CBS:
The Big Bang Theory (r)- 11.56m (2.5)
The Millers- 9.57m (2.0)
The Crazy Ones- 8.06m (1.9)
The Big Bang Theory (r)- 8.39m (2.0)
Elementary- 9.35m (1.7)

ABC:
Charlie Brown (r)- 6.96m (2.2)
Greys Anatomy- 8.88m (2.6)
Scandal- 9.23m (2.9)

NBC:
SNL Halloween- 5.51m (1.7)
Sean Saves The World- 4.11m (1.2)
The Michael J Fox- 3.62m (1.1)
Parenthood- 3.97m (1.3)

FOX:
X Factor Clip Show- 3.25m (0.8)
Glee- 1.96m (0.6)

CW:
The Vampire Diaries- 2.11m (0.8)
Reign- 1.59m (0.6)

Those cannot be right for Glee, surely not, I know it was Halloween but Doesn't it usually get around 5m? And the last episode (tribute ep) got 7.4m.

TVD will adjust around two tenths, but well done to Reign keeping it's audience.

Does this mean The Originals came top this week?

Looks like CBS fell apart a little because of no new TBBT episode.

It was a repeat & it was Halloween, that probably explains it

Back in the Game has had a higher demo & higher viewer numbers than Trophy Wife & Goldbergs yet it didn't get a back 9 and the other 2 did, seems kind of odd.

Wow
Grimm and Dracula saw quite the drop
Although Grimm can get away with those type of ratings as it has done for it's entire run
Dracula may get the chop if it carries on, but then it again, Hannibal got those type of ratings and still got a second season.

Well only if you exclude Sundays. Walking Dead vs Sunday Night Football .
Slight problem for the other broadcasters is that from Sunday 17th NBC can change the NFL game they show from the ones they picked pre season, to the one they think will get high ratings now based on how the league is going.

Meaning on Sunday 17th, they're showing Kansas City at Denver, who are the best 2 teams this season.

Mom on CBS really has surprised me ratings-wise. I haven't watch it yet, but I have heard a lot of good things about it so I will give it a try.

I remember people thinking it would fail miserably because it has had no lead-in, but despite that, it's holding a lot better whereas everything else on CBS (bar 2 Broke Girls which has been helped by the move) has declined.

For example:
The Crazy Ones:

Started at 15.52m, latest episode got 8.06m.

Mom started of with 7.99m, lastest episode got 6.64m against tougher competition, but averaging over 7m in general. Not bad for a show that has no big lead-in like most CBS comedies. It will back to over 7m this week I reckon and around a 2.3 demo. People expected it in the high 1s because of no lead-in.

I doubt the mentalist will be cancelled, it's a good earner for CBS

The Mentalist is actually not doing very well, at all. the thing is, if a show doesn't get the ratings the network promised the advertisers, the network has to pay them! So it may not be the earner it once was. The raw viewing numbers have dropped hugely (from 13+ million a couple of seasons ago to less than 8 million the other week), and the critical 18-49 ratings are tanking too. One good thing is that they're up to syndication level of episodes, and it could go off into syndication heaven and make that cash back for CBS! Same with The Good Wife - it's on season 5 now, has been shifted to Sundays, and will probably see out the rest of it's season there before cancellation. There are a few no-brainers on that list - Once Upon A Time In Wonderland is a goner, as are Hostages and Beauty and The Beast. Terrible ratings for all of them.

The ones I wonder if they're actually on the bubble more are The Mindy Project, which is holding up with fairly similar figures to last season, and Brooklyn Nine Nine, which seems to be a slow burner. After it's initial rating drop, it appears to be holding steady, and they're not shabby figures really - for Fox. On any other network, I'd be concerned, but I think this one will get a full run and perhaps settle into something reasonably healthy. Fox is less of a 'cut and burn' type network anyway. They don't have the pipeline of new projects the other networks do - Kevin Reilly, the head of the entertainment division, has already said he doesn't particularly believe in the pilot system, and wants to be able to allow shows to develop on the network, by giving them season orders early in the game. However, whilst it's not scripted, I'd be putting The X Factor USA on that 'at risk' list - that one is sinking like a stone!

Either the mentalist or the good wife will be cancelled if not both, if either of them is renewed, I imagine it would be moved to friday.

CBS shows on a sunday suffer terribly from the football, firstly there is the competition of the football on NBC and secondly their shows get preempted in a lot of markets & the shows start at odd times, sometimes up to an hour late.

Dizzie, the good wife has been on sundays for 3 seasons now.

Oh yes, I did know that about The Good Wife! I think I was trying to say that those Sunday night slots aren't for the favoured few 'big' shows, and it's a good place to see out the rest of it's days, instead of battling the tougher timeslots midweek.

I've never seen afternoon ratings reported. Football costs the networks a small fortune though

From wiki
"Currently, the terrestrial television networks CBS ($3.73B), NBC ($3.6B) and Fox ($4.27B) — as well as cable television's ESPN ($8.8B) — are paying a combined total of US$20.4 billion to broadcast NFL games as per the current contract that ends in 2013. From 2014 to 2022, the same networks will pay $39.6 billion for the same broadcast rights."

So they would need very high demo numbers to recoup those costs through advertising, NBC currently charges $570,000 per 30 second advertising for sunday night football. The earlier Football Night in America costs $135,780 per 30 second advert.

These are final Live + Same Day ratings after adjustments have been made. Those shows in their 3rd season and therefore only needing 1 season for syndication have an * as they would need something catastrophic to happen for them to be cancelled. The Differences columns are the difference in the demo from its last outing & difference in total viewers from its last outing.

Final Ratings Oct 20th - 26th

It's pretty dire in my opinion. Very surprised to see Kevin Bishop in the cast too. It took me a couple of minutes to realise it was him.

I believe the networks all lose money on American football, but I guess it does bring in a valuable demographic - similar to ITV and its loss making champions league coverage
