These numbers look pretty poor to be honest, I know demos matter here but crikey they make the UK ratings look like solid performers.

Young and Hungry - 529k
Baby Daddy - 563k (season finale)
Mr Robot - 705k
Tyrant - 827k
Suits - 1.8 mill

I question whether Mr Robot's award nominations and critical acclaim will only take the show so far.

Yes. I’m really surprised that all the ‘buzz’ the first season got (largely from critics and award shows) hasn’t resulted in its second season performing better. I think I’m correct in saying it’s actually performing worse this season.

I'm still optimistic, they must know that putting it on Netflix the next day - in the US - is overnights suicide. Internationally (including UK obviously) is where the show should be on Netflix and it has a big international fanbase.

Besides, it does generate a buzz - the #MTVScream had 43k tweets on Tuesday, which is pretty impressive for a show with 300-450k overnight viewers. If MTV are daft enough to cancel it I hope Netflix will adopt it (provided they don't change the writers/producers).

The Outcast rating looks scarily low.

Wow at Mr Robot being so low!

Can't wait until next month when the fall shows start!

Actually that rating is good for a network like Cinemax. It's not a big network in the same vein as HBO or Showtime. Plus Banshee managed a four season run with pretty much the same numbers.

Cinemax is also only it’s US broadcaster. It’s produced by Fox International Studios and is sold to multiple international broadcasters (mostly Fox operated), so it’s success will probably be judged on more than just its Cinemax ratings.
It’s also supposedly already been renewed for a second season – this was announced before it had even premiered.

I personally think Mr Robot is on the wrong network. It doesn't belong on USA Network. Their shows are normally quite safe-ish. Mr Robot is quite dark and heavy on it's content. It belongs on a place like Showtime or AMC.

Yeah, suppose it is odd Mr Robot is on the channel that shows 5 hours of wrestling in primetime on Mondays & Tuesdays!

Arrested Development syndrome perhaps?

I’d agree there are similarities between Mr Robot and Arrested Development – the more awards and critical acclaim they get/got, the worse their ratings get/got.
But when you say ‘syndrome’ you suggest there’s a reason behind it – what do you think it is?

Just a figure of speech, sometimes for whatever reason there is a big divergence between popular and critical opinion regarding particular shows, Mrs Brown's Boys being the best known example.

In Mr Robot's case I suspect that, good as the performances are, the characters just aren't very likeable.
