I've watched the first two episodes, second worse than the first and I think losing 4 million after 4 episodes tells you that 25% tuning in have already given up. I did say hopefully it may get cancelled, I didn't say it would but as in my post on US TV shows thread, I think there is so much more choice available, better productions, different slants on law, crime, medical formats and people may be like us, they don't watch more but watch better and yes probably because more are becoming more discerning because there is so much choice.
The other thing that we do now is wait until a series has ended and watch it over a shorter period rather than wait 8,10,13 weeks which also means you end up with a number of series to be watched and losing interest more quickly in things you might have stuck with before.
