NBC can be pleased with Chicago Fire. Of course it'll drop without a The Voice original as lead-in, but it still topped Person of Interest. You'd have said that was very unlikely a year ago.
SHIELD falling still isn't a surprise! but it really needs to stop soon before ABC's Tuesday returns to being the disaster we've become accustomed to. I can't see any of the comedies surviving in the long run.
On a broader note, it is interesting to see comedies suffer. A season or two back, they were the 'in' thing. Everyone decided audiences wanted to laugh their way through the recession and all broadcasters tried new comedy blocks. Now CBS is sinking on Mondays, ABC and Fox are sinking on Tuesdays and NBC still suck on Thursdays. Even your the blockbuster comedy blocks on Wednesday and Thursday appear rather propped up by one smash hit show.”

It's no real surprise to see NCIS dropping even my wife has given up on it. I would avoid Michael Weatherly's new show "Bull" audience has already fallen by 4 million after only 4 episodes.
Surprising to see so many lows or low in general and then there's the Goldbergs which hits a season high.
Empire under 3 for the first time.
Arrow recovered a tenth from last week. LW did well. But apart from that, not great.

Which is perfectly normal for most shows anyway. It's rare any show keeps their audience from the pilot in the episodes that follow. However it's demos have never gone lower than a 1.5 which is where it matters.

But your comparing a premiere number. I always compare 2nd episodes to current episodes as premiere ones are always inflated. Plus in demo Bull is doing OK for old skewing CBS. It's in the mid 1s which is in line or high than those prestigious post Big Bang slots.
Totally agree about premiere's they should be ignored as far as what they get in ratings when comparing to future weeks. Weeks 2-4 usually show what is happening and if a show has a following. As has been said Bull is solid and been pulling in roughly the same demo constantly, which can only be considered a success.

I've watched the first two episodes, second worse than the first and I think losing 4 million after 4 episodes tells you that 25% tuning in have already given up. I did say hopefully it may get cancelled, I didn't say it would but as in my post on US TV shows thread, I think there is so much more choice available, better productions, different slants on law, crime, medical formats and people may be like us, they don't watch more but watch better and yes probably because more are becoming more discerning because there is so much choice.
The other thing that we do now is wait until a series has ended and watch it over a shorter period rather than wait 8,10,13 weeks which also means you end up with a number of series to be watched and losing interest more quickly in things you might have stuck with before.

That's a big jump for Big Bang Theory, up four tenths!
The Allison Janney show also up two-tenths. I expect big adjustments later.
Grey's Anatomy down two-tenths to tie a series low.
Macgyver seems comfortable where it is. CBS really are the king or queen of Fridays. I remember when they used to dominate with Ghost whisperer and had a brief short success with the last seasons of Medium. God i feel odd.

It hasn't been bad enough to put me off yet, but it is border line.

I totally agree it is nothing like the original which i loved. What i do think is CBS have pulled a blinder by putting it straight on Friday where it fits with H50 and Blue Bloods. It does not need big scores as was never going to get it on a Friday but what it is getting is good for the night and is a success for them

NCIS is in decline and has been since the departure of the yummy Cote De Pablo, Bull is utterly excruciatingly terrible, Weatherly just does not have lead star nuance and the premise is bad.
14 years CBS aired NCIS and in all that time nothing was ever done to flesh out the character of Di Nozzo, the current ratings are not surpring to be honest, it's past its prime.
Talking of ratings are CBS viewers sadomasochistic because Kevin Can Wait is still getting huge numbers and The Great Indoors is still on air, two mortifyingly woefully comedies that should never have been greenlit.

Expect to see Pure Genius pulled soon, it's demos are in the gutter, if The Great Indoors was not paired with TBBT then it too would have been pulled.
Slightly off topic but I saw the Chicago Med episode Thursday teatime so I guess it must be aired somewhere before the NBC premiere.

Canada sometimes air episodes of US shows before they even air in the US
Episodes are sometimes available online hours before the network broadcast, especially season premieres.
