As long as everything else on NBC does well enough that they can ignore that no one but me watches Hannibal and keep renewing it anyway, I'll be happy. I really didn't like Grimm but I only saw the pilot, I guess it must have improved since then.
a show that can't simply develop a mythology or create believeable monsters or villians. The characters are so one dimensional. FOX only gave The mindy project 13/15 episodes this season so once they are complete, i am sure FOX will give it the axe Blackish looks and sounds brilliant and it does have a strong range of comedies to air alongside. |

I have the completely opposite view from little monster regarding it I personally grew to like the characters and I am more for the dramatic non creature side of it. And I think the last ep of S3, is one of the best hours of Television I have watched (in this decade for sure anyway).

Forever seems to have increased it's demos since the pilot which in it's self is a bit rare.
Shield has been adjusted which makes it look even more successful. Just goes to show, low in ratings but fantastic in demos Can't wait to see how comedy night does, plus the return of Nashville and others later on today |

According to household ratings and Marc Berman's summary of that...
Winners- Strong returns for Modern Family. SVU and Survivor, strong ratings for Mysteries of Laura and great premiere rating of Black-Ish. According to the household ratings, Laura got exactly the same rating as the premiere, which would equate to another 2.0. Still Great- The Goldbergs and The Middle Losers- Red Band Society and Nashville It seems like a great day for ABC for the comedies and brilliant for NBC. |

RBS might be the first casualty amongst the new shows!!! Even if the audience hold up in demos, 1.3 (I think) is still nothing to be proud about. MOL looks safe as their stagnant ratings are at passable level.

Laura has been slaughtered by people all summer and predicted to be the biggest flop of the season. Yet Red band society has been a critical darling but a ratings wimper. Interesting what the eventual result is when it comes right down to the demos and viewers.
I already have red band down as the first cancellation of the season, or at least by FOX. Nashville failing doesn't surprise me but the show brings a lot of money to the actual place of Nashville which is why ABC gave it a third season. It still wouldn't shock me if a fourth is given purely for syndication. |

Maybe it's the Debra Messing effect and her relationship with NBC!! Haha. But, Smash flopped horribly on their second and last season, so...
As for Nashville, they should be lucky that tourism or whatever source is making revenue for Nashville. They were definitely on their way out last season alongside Revenge. The difference is that Nashville might have staying power in syndication whereas Revenge might not do so well on their off-net. Revenge did come back to form (creatively, not ratings) in late season 3 and the last moments of the season finale was satisfying. I would have left it there. |

Glee does awful now. Smash was short-lived. It seems to me that television audiences are not reacting to music based shows as they once did. It seems to of been a short lived trend once upon a time. It's not a genre that is appealing. |

The programme itself does have quite a strong ‘brand’ though so I can see that helping it get to where its got, for example I know there are soundtracks and I even saw a ‘Music from the TV show Nashville’ stage show when I was in Disney Land this summer. But I suspect the main reason its got this far is its syndication prospects. Once there’s enough episodes for a good syndication package I suspect ABC will end it. |

Musicals in general don't last that long. The reason why Glee made it so far was because their many volumes of soundtracks contributed to their peak at the time. Their downfall was mostly overexposure during season 2 with the concert movie and that awful Glee Project. Their storyline didn't help much either. Smash tanked because season one declined so fast creatively that every episode you watched felt like a downer. Consequently, viewers dismissed season 2 as soon as it began.
Nashville came in when musical dramas were waning. Because country music is popular in the US, they must have thought the genre itself would draw the viewers in. Instead, it was the opposite. In Argentina, Violetta, the teen musical novela, is still popular. But, with the trend of the musical genre declining after the first two seasons, I wonder if Violetta will face a similar fate there. Violetta is currently on their third season. |

Utopia HAS to be dumped first - those ratings are an embarrassment! I watched TMOL, and can't understand it's appeal. It's pretty damn awful. I can't believe this will survive the season, and would be even more surprised to see it retain those figures for long! Mind you, worse crap has stayed on air way longer than it deserved to - like, who's still watching 2 Broke Girls?!!

2 Broke Girls' quality has gone down a lot in S3, but it still does very well. I seem to remember it was getting over 7m in the last few episodes and I'd say well over a 2.0 demo with no lead in.

and i still watch 2 broke girls. I love it. It makes me laugh. I think it's funnier than big bang or Modern family. But it's all about different people's humor. But it's rare i like any sitcoms but that i do. |

Wednesday early ratings:
CBS: Survivor (Premiere)- 9.65m (2.7) Big Brother (Finale)- 7.00m (2.6) NBC: The Mysteries or Laura- 9.90m (1.5) Law and Order SVU- 10.10m (2.1) Chicago PD- 8.40m (1.9) ABC: The Middle- 7.39m (2.1) The Goldbergs- 6.97m (2.3) Modern Family- 10.93m (3.7) Blackish- 10.79m (3.3) Nashville- 5.60m (1.5) FOX: Hells Kitchen- 3.70m (1.3) Red Band Society- 3.40m (1.0) CW: Penn and Teller: Fool Us (Final)- 1.51m (0.5) I'm disappointed in The Middle's demo, surprised it was lower than The Goldbergs. Great for MF as always! AWESOME for Black-Ish. OK, Laura didn't do as well in demo as expected but kept almost all of the viewing numbers intact. FOX! FOX! |

I think Mysteries of Laura will get a full season, the demo's not great but the overall ratings is pretty solid.
FOX is in the deep end and can't see it improving tonight. It'll be interesting how the live action comedies fare on Sunday. Brooklyn 99 should do well but unsure about Mulaney. |

I forgot about Utopia. I mean people have signed up to do this show for a year. So can they just say "ratings are crap, let's get people out of this show now and forget all about it" or will they move it to a different network or perhaps make it an Online show only on the fox website.

Oh a 1.5 for Laura. I spoke too soon. That is a big come down from the 2.0
Lovely to see The goldbergs see a huge rise. Summer ratings pretty much saved this show after a not so great performance last season Very impressive for Blackish |

Won't it just be the like the contracts which actors sign with networks? In other words, if the show is a success the network gets to keep you for as long as they want (up to six or seven years for an actor in a scripted hit, before renegotiations are possible) but if it is a flop the network can scrap it and fire you at any time? And if the numbers are this appalling on a mainstream network, how could any show, even an unscripted one, be viable with the fraction of those numbers which they would get if transferred to cable or online?

Tonight we have
Return of Grey's, scandal, bones and parenthood While we also see the birth of newbie show, how to get away with murder Grey's and Scandal are ABC's two consistent performers so I like to think Murder is in safe hands. |

CBS clearly like Mom since its moving to Thursdays once football is over and The Millers is moving to Mondays. CBS are doubling on Big Bang Theory for a few more weeks with a repeat after a new episode.
