An 8.7 rating is near unheard of for a scripted show these days. Amazing numbers. I think it's future is secure! Saying that, I genuinely don't know if a show like TWD would have got made on network TV. I just can't see it existing outside of a cable provider. It really is in the perfect place for a show like that to have legs and stay on air for many seasons. Plus, with the genre, killing off cast members who wish to depart in the future is no big deal!
![]() BTW, it's deeply curious to muse on the fact that this is (outside of sports broadcasts) America's number 1 show. Compare and contrast to the British no 1 - The Great British Bake Off (or the scripted number 1 - Downton Abbey)! Some cultural difference! |

I watched Jane The Virgin on a whim based off the acclaim it was getting and surprisingly it was really good. The title doesn't do it justice, really!
I hope it can do reasonably for The CW. I will continue watching for sure. |

Tuesday preliminary http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/201...s-down/314686/
The Flash continues to do amazing stuff for The CW and Supernatural did well too. ABC starting to really struggle on Tuesdays and FOX continuing to have a dreadful season. |

NBC have cancelled midseason comedy, Mission Control. Only the pilot was filmed. This marks NBC's second cancellation of a midseason show before even airing.

Round up...
Monday finals: CBS: The Big Bang Theory- 15.32m (4.5) The Big Bang Theory (r)- 11.38m (2.8) Scorpion-11.51m (2.4) NBC: The Voice- 13.28m (4.0) The Blacklist- 9.76m (2.8) ABC: Dancing with the stars- 12.74m (2.0) Castle- 9.17m (1.9) FOX: Gotham- 6.39m (2.4) Sleepy Hollow- 4.76m (1.7) CW: The Originals- 1.29m (0.7) Jane The Virgin- 1.631m (0.6) That's the first time I have seen Big Bang adjust down, well, I can't remember the last time! Scorpion is doing very well IMO too! Now Gotham is dropping, SH doesn't look too bad now. The Originals keeping all of its demo is impressive and JTV staying steady from prems, that's a very good CW Monday! Tuesday early ratings: CBS: NCIS- 17.09m (2.5) NCIS New Orleans- 15.90m (2.2) Person of Interest- 9.73m (1.5) NBC: The Voice- 11.89m (3.3) Marry Me- 7.76m (2.3) About A Boy- 6.16m (1.8) Chicago Fire- 7.18m (2.0) ABC: Selfie- 3.52m (1.0) Manhattan Love Story- 2.96m (0.9) SHIELD- 4.62m (1.6) Forever- 4.68m (1.1) FOX: The Simpsons (r)- 1.97m (0.8) Bobs Burgers (r)- 1.53m (0.7) New Girl- 2.26m (1.2) Mindy- 2.21m (1.0) CW: The Flash- 4.12m (1.6) Supernatural- 2.20m (1.0) Fantastic for the CW with The Flash doing incredibly and SPN still dominating despite being on for like 10 years! Such a shame for ABC, Forever is struggling in a bad slot, it will probably get cancelled because it airs after two new comedies that are doing badly and SHIELD which has dropped half a rating point since last year! Marry Me did great, shame that AAB didn't hit a 2.0 though! Finals will be in shortly for Tuesday. Hoping Arrow can keep its 1.0 from last week after the "shock" death last week. No Middle or Goldbergs though! Will it do better without facing those two sitcoms? |

Gracepoint is likely to air its last episode tomorrow, demos are bad and Tennant stinks.

I wouldn't be surprised if ABC has a complete new lineup after November sweeps. Same goes for FOX (New Girl might be a lead-out for some show and The Mindy Project following after). NBC did decently for Marry Me and an alright debut for AAB. I see The Voice is back to their regular numbers now that they are in the battle rounds. Supernatural is CW's Grey's Anatomy, ratings-wise. Both shows on air for a decade and still rates very well. POI looks to be done after this season. Might as well make Tuesday night the NCIS night, just like ABC with Shondaland Thursday. The Flash is still a monster hit for The CW.
Looks like no new shows can catch a break on Tuesdays in the big 4 networks, unless you're on NBC. |

Moving NCIS Los Angeles to Tuesdays at 10pm would help it. Maybe put Battle Creek on Mondays and Person of Interest on Wednesdays after Criminal Minds.

and ABC have announced they have ordered three extra scripts for Selfie, Manhattan Love story and Forever. Although these are just scripts being written, not additional episdoes being made. Why order additional scripts for three low rated shows? |

Weds early ratings:
CBS: Survivor- 9.32m (2.3) Criminal Minds- 10.75m (2.4) Stalker- 7.80m (1.7) ABC: Toy Story of terror (r)- 8.27m (1.8) Charlie Brown (r)- 6.28m (2.1) Modern Family- 9.46m (3.3) Black-Ish- 6.92m (2.5) Nashville- 5.08m (1.3) NBC: MoL- 8.52m (1.3) Law and Order SVU- 7.27m (1.7) Chicago PD- 6.71m (1.6) FOX: Hells Kitchen- 3.66m (1.2) Red Band Society- 3.11m (0.9) CW: Arrow- 2.25m (0.8) The Flash (r)- 1.63m (0.5) Damn, no Arrow! Hope it adjusts up! Black-ish still doing well despite dropping, but its lead in MF did too. Both comedies were top of the night again. So anyone worrying about Black-ish.... don't. Its doing better than 90% of that has followed MF hasn't it? |

FOX should actually try to save Red band society and move it to a different time slot. I think that is the only show they could actually have a shot in saving. Like i have said a few times, it's up against some pretty big shows. No new show can ever complete with rating winners like Modern family, criminal minds and SVU.

ABC are a strange network, like you I cannot understand the reasoning behind the script orders, caught up with 'Selfie' so not impressed with it, weak scripts and Karen Gillan looks miscast. |

Is it because Fox have nothing else to air in its place?
ABC are a strange network, like you I cannot understand the reasoning behind the script orders, caught up with 'Selfie' so not impressed with it, weak scripts and Karen Gillan looks miscast. and ABC will likely want to keep a few of their low rated shows on the air for a bit longer. They did it last year with Super fun night. |

I suspect Fox are waiting for the World Series games to kick in, and after that they'll do the wholesale reworking of their schedule. That way, they can paint it as 'post baseball changes' rather than 'desperate schedule shifting to save poor performing shows'. People mentioning that Fox have nothing to replace these shows with, well that's pretty much it. They had a very thin pipeline leading into this season, Kevin Reilly left the network with a real lack of new shows this summer, because he was pretty opposed to pilot season, and was trying the cable/Netflix model of having shows developed and ordered straight to season. Bringing forward any midseason shows will leave horrendous gaps in their Winter/Spring schedule, and I rather think they may have near enough written off their Fall schedule, and decided to go with an 'it's all Kevin Reilly's fault' excuse, and do their damnedest to launch their Winter schedule as strongly as possible.
I agree that RBS would probably do much better in a different slot. Tuesdays seems to be somewhere it could go, given Utopia has left that night airing repeats, animations or hastily brought forward Gordon Ramsay shows. I think there's space for it there, but I don't know if they've got the guts to accept that Wednesdays were a bad scheduling decision and switch them round now. I think Gracepoint could be pushed to Fridays, and Utopia will be killed off entirely. I suspect it's more important to them to see out a high quality limited series like that, than continue with a duffer like Utopia for any longer than they have to. |

Better for Reign but I still don't think it should be renewed.

Hart of dixie, Beauty, IZombie and The messengers are still left to air Hart of dixie has already finished filming season 4 and the cast have been told that it is the final season, but it hasn't officially been confirmed to the press. So that's one spot left for next season's schedule Beauty, well i can't see that ever seeing a rise in the ratings. The reduce episode order means it is no where near syndication numbers. The CW will either cancel Beauty or give it an even shorter fourth season next fall. The Messengers and iZombie, personally i think Izombie will be the hit and The messengers will be the flop. Purely because The messengers is another "omg the world could be ending, let's get a group of people to prevent this" show. While iZombie takes on a different approach and view of Zombies. |

Thurs finals. Bones, HTGAWM up, Reign down.
CBS: NFL- 7.24m (2.2), 16.09m (5.4) ABC: Greys Anatomy- 8.43m (2.4) Scandal- 9.90m (2.9) How To Get Away With Murder- 9.79m (2.8) NBC: The Biggest Loser-m 4.66m (1.3) Bad Judge- 4.68m (1.2) A to Z- 3.37m (1.0) Parenthood- 4.20m (1.3) FOX Bones- 6.56m (1.7) Gracepoint- 3.70m (0.8) CW: The Vampire Diaries- 1.83m (0.9) Reign- 1.27m (0.4) NBC low as always on a Thursday but they have great consistency. All their shows in the dreaded NBC Thursday slot are very very static. Bad Judge has been doing decently considering! Reign won't get renewed next year will it? Bones still going strong for FOX who have had major problems. And ABC, strong as always on a Thursday. Greys is just so solid and barely budges! |
