Yikes at 2BG and CBS in general!!! Not great for State of Affairs either. DWTS did fine, although I do wonder if they will still be viable enough for ABC come next season. I also wonder if Castle would have made it this long, had they been placed in other timeslots a few years ago.

No its 4.

3 tenths would have seen it equal The Voice with a 2.6. 4 tenths sees it win the night with a 2.7

Looking can be forgiven as it was given a second chance with another season. Plus it increased slowly over the season. This is the comeback's second chance and I think it's even lower rated now then it was 9 years ago.

Getting On is pretty much getting the same.

These half hour comedies are rating poor, if you compare that to the 800k that Girls manages. But as said before, HBO are fair to their low rated shows and normally pay attention to critical acclaim and awards. Enlightened being a prime example. But unless ratings suddenly pick up, it's fair but maybe early to say The Comeback and Getting on won't be seeing a third season at the moment. It's a shame as I think Getting on and The Comeback are very good. Incredibly well written and acted. But given fair chances.”

HBO has struggled to find a comedy hit, Silicon Valley and Veep have done well but they have the benefit of GoT as a lead in. Showtime in comparison has done well with Episodes, House of Lies, Nurse Jackie and Shameless, it'll be interesting if reorder Happyish since Jackie is ending next season and they've not got another half hour sitcom to replace Californication

Tuesday early ratings:

CBS:
NCIS- 15.69m (2.4)
NCIS New Orleans- 14.20m (2.3)
Person of Interest- 8.86m (1.7)

ABC:
DWTS Road to the Final- 11.25m (1.9)
DWTS Final- 15.84m (2.9)

NBC:
The Voice- 9.18m (2.3)
Marry Me- 3.75m (1.1)
About A Boy- 3.10m (1.0)

FOX:
Masterchef Jr- 4.04m (1.5)
New Girl- 2.77m (1.3)
The Mindy Project- 2.34m (1.1)

The CW:
The Flash- 3.41m (1.4)
Supernatural- 2.29m (0.9)

That is awful for Marry Me, to get 1.1 after The Voice is just so bad... but at least AAB maintains most of MM demo, so not sure if they will cancel both. The Flash still brilliant! CW affected the least from the increased competition.

Could marry me have taken such a tumble because it was up against the DWTS finale?

Because it has rated very well in previous weeks

Nice increase POI. I think that's the highest demos the show has managed in a while.

Big night for ABC. That was Dancing with the Stars best finale in four seasons and ABC's best Tuesday performance since May 2012. Not entirely sure what happened with the Dancing with the Stars finale this cycle but something did. Perhaps benefiting from a rapid decline of The Voice...

Speaking of which horrible night for NBC.

NCIS New Orleans held well against DWTS which did great, The Flash still performing well for The CW.

CBS has announced the guest hosts for The Late Late Show and it's not a bad lineup although they have a week of The Talk in that slot, which sounds to me like they are experimenting how well it'll do and perhaps Itll fill the slot between Lettermans final Late Show and Stephen Colbert starting since they'll need a few months to renovate and having repeats will be handing the audience to ABC and NBC

The guest hosts look much better than Corden.

The Talk After Dark is an... odd decision. They should surely be able to find better than that.

A fairly unimpressive bunch if you ask me, but it's personal taste I guess.

If I were James Corden I'd be a bit concerned, they are essentially trialling replacement hosts should his ratings be poor, before his first show has even aired. It means replacing him could be very easy if he underperforms.

TBH none of the guest hosts could do it full time. I think CBS will want to see how Corden does not only after Letterman but also Colbert. Letterman will see a boost in ratings in the run up to his final show.

I'm surprised there wasn't any female hosts. I would have thought CBS would ask someone like Aisha Tyler to do a week of shows

As I mentioned, it likely a experiment by CBS to see if this sort of show could work as filler later in the year when there is no Late Show for a few months.

I'm not remotely surprised by that. The last thing CBS needs is to have a female guest host show up do well and re-raise the 'why did they hire another white guy for this job?' issue.

I understand that but even in that scenario they should really be able to do better.

NCIS and Dancing with the Stars each adjusted up a tenth in the finals otherwise no changes.

I definitely thought this when I saw the list. Each of them (except Kunal obviously!) is a classic 'soon-to-be middle aged white guy stand up' who, if their careers went a favourable way, could be the host of any one of the late night shows in the future.

This is definitely a case of 'try before you buy', and James Corden would be right to be extremely concerned. The thing is, back when he was first announced, everyone said 'how is he going to balance his acting - which seemed to still be a priority for him - and the long-running nature of these late night gigs?'. For me, Corden doesn't seem the type to be wanting a 10 year job. I may be wrong, but this feels like a temporary job for him, not long term.

Of that list, Drew Carey jumps out as the most obvious 'next big talk show host'. He's a very easy person to watch, although he doesn't do a massive amount on Who's Line, he definitely contributes to that show's successes. Mind you, I'm most interested to see how Kunal does - he's younger than the others, a British Indian, and so very far out of the box of usual talk show hosts! I'd like to see him have a good reception, because it would indicate US audiences are open to something more than the usual fare. And yes, why no women?! 9 weeks and there wasn't time to have a single one guest host? I think you can see my eyes rolling from space here!

No surprises there in the least. Ratings are just awful. Actually, they've pulled it entirely from their schedule as of now - meaning they only aired 9 out of the 13 episodes made. No conclusion for that show! It always needles me a little that they are perfectly happy to yank stuff out of the schedule with zero concern for anyone who was actually watching the show! I wonder if they'll burn off the final ones over the Christmas period?

FOX seem to be a little stubborn. Mulaney had it's order cut and RBS won't have the back nine. Both are poorly rated, yet FOX haven't actually cancelled a scripted this show season. Plus there is also Gracepoint

Why will FOX not admit defeat and cancel all three or at least one? Instead of keeping hush about it and acting like nothing is wrong. It would not surprise me if FOX remain even more stubborn and not cancel Gracepoint, RBS and Mulaney until May.

I guess it's a case study in 'how to avoid the damning headlines from the media'. If they don't say the word cancellation, then the mainstream media can't print it! It means no one can point out (officially, anyway) that Fox have essentially cancelled nearly 90% of their freshman line-up. Only Gotham looks like it will survive past midseason. That's a horrifically bad batting rate!

Waiting until May, when every network has got lots of new and shiny to parade in front of the media at Upfronts, means those announcements will pass with very little fanfare. At this time of year, the media are much more interested in looking for the 'sinking ship' stories. Fox are just refusing to give them bait!

Makes sense when you put it like that

I wonder if their midseason shows will do better? I bet they are praying for a miracle they do.

Its not unusual that networks don't ever use the word cancelled. Even in May when they announce new schedules they can be incredibly reluctant to actually officially announce cancellations. Shows just mysteriously disappear never to be seen again. I suspect the same thing will happen to State of Affairs on NBC come January/February time (if not sooner). It'll 'take a break' that it never comes back from.

For Fox specifically this season though part of the problem is that they've had to stick with their current line-up. The utter disaster that was Utopia has left them with no option but to let stuff like Red Band Society and Gracepoint finish their runs whereas in previous years at least one of them would have been pulled. This is also part of the reason that they will have revived Are You Smarter..., they're aware that they need more cheap filler that they can just throw onto the schedule at a moments notice.

Literally nothing to report from last night. A lot of repeats, Christmas specials. Only things to know

CBS:
Survivor- 8.93m (2.1)
Criminal Minds- 10.85m (2.2)
Stalker- 8.15m (1.6)

FOX:
Red Band Society- 2.49m (0.7)

Mom did the best out of all of the non repeats on CBS but CBS were silly to schedule originals on Thanksgiving against NFL but I imagine due to the late start, they had to,

Agent Carter confirmed to air two hour series premiere.

i agree Jonwo, although a 1.6 against thanksgiving originals is still rather good
Salv*

To be fair, I think Mom did decently with it:
a) being Thanksgiving (not like that means anything to me, I don't know how big the day is in the US really)
b) Not having a lead in.
c) Against the NFL.
It probably means that if Mom doesn't have TBBT as a lead in, it would be in the ~2.0 range, because it got 1.6 with a lot of things going against it as mentioned above.
