I thought it would be a good idea to see the whole weeks ratings in one post.
These are final Live + Same Day ratings after adjustments have been made. For renewal or cancellation just because a show loses its timeslot doesn't necessarily mean a show will be cancelled, shows are cancelled if they are the lowest rated on their network, for example CBS usually cancel its 2 lowest sitcoms & its 4 lowest dramas each year. Those shows in their 3rd season and therefore only needing 1 season for syndication have an * as they would need something catastrophic to happen for them to be cancelled. Code:

The Walking Dead is a complete phenomenon. The broadcast nets must be scratching their heads wondering why they can't produce dramas that get anywhere near those demos.
I do think TWD will start declining sooner or later although AMC probably will keep renewing it for another few more seasons. |

Can we say that judging by adult ratings, The Walking Dead is the most popular show in the US then? In terms of overall ratings and adults.... The Walking Dead, Big Bang Theory and NCIS. 3 completely different shows!
Thanks for the weekly breakdown. CW is interesting, shame about Arrow not topping adults, despite topping the viewers of the week. Does that mean not a lot of younger adults watch Arrow? Older people watch it? I hope it can hit a 1.0 on Wednesday. Tonight's ratings see a shuffle on CBS does it not? 2 Broke Girls and Moms have been moved and follow Two and a Half Men and a repeats of TBBT which should help both of the shows. For example, 2BG got a 7.26m last week, I can see a potential 8.5m+ and be up a couple of tenths in adults. (a 2.6 maybe) |

The Walking Dead was a hit from the get go whereas NCIS and Big Bang started decently and grew into monster hits.

The cable ratings usually come out much later
Walking Dead - 16.1m viewers, 10.4m in 18-49 giving it an 8.3 rating. As for Sunday dramas on broadcast, good luck surviving. With so many cable shows making strong numbers, it's no wonder why Sunday is a bad day for broadcast. Other than football, only the Grammys and the Oscars manage to make spectacular outings. Some people are suggesting that DWTS should be on Sundays and let scripted shows air only on weekdays. With numbers that we got now, it seems appropriate. Although, DWTS is eroding itself. |

Looks like the 2BG move has paid off with the show growing a bit from HIMYM, the demo needs to be nearer a 3 but I think the return of Mike and Molly may help somewhat, I think Mom will get a few more episodes but will ultimately be replaced by Friends with Better Lives/Bad Teacher.
Hostages I think be either be axed or moved to Saturdays, CBS still has Unforgettable episodes still in the can from last season which they air until Intelligence is ready. I'm unsure where the midseason drama Reckless will go, I'm thinking either Sunday replacing either The Mentalist or The Good Wife or Fridays at 8pm. |

CBS:
NCIS- 18.43m (3.0) NCIS: L.A- 14.68m (2.6) Person of Interest- 12.42m (2.1) ABC: S.H.I.E.L.D- 7.68m (2.7) The Goldbergs- 5.08m (1.6) Trophy Wife- 4.07m (1.3) Scandal (r)- 2.77m (0.7) NBC: The Biggest Loser- 7.00m (2.2) The Voice- 12.69m (3.9) Chicago Fire- 8.25m (2.4) FOX: Dads- 3.40m (1.4) Brooklyn Nine-Nine- 3.41m (1.5) New Girl- 3.48m (1.8) The Mindy Project- 2.83m (1.4) CW: The Originals- 2.20m (1.1) Supernatural- 2.31m (1.1) A great night for the CW for both getting a 1.1 especially for The Originals which went up in demo and viewers (0.9 to 1.1 in demo, 1.92m to 2.20m in viewers). Looks like the CW have their dream Tuesday, now we need it to happen again tonight for Arrow and The Tomorrow People, Arrow must hit a 1.0! Despite New Girl dropping constantly, it is safe due to the fact that everything else around it does worse and it managed to get the highest demo every Tuesday for FOX. |

Can I ask, in terms of US ratings because I'm not 100% sure how they work, do advertisers completely ignore the raw numbers something like DWTS or Person of Interest get and focus primarily on the demo so a high rating show with a low demo could be on the verge of cancellation? I just can't get my head around the fact that some shows do spectacularly in raw figures and then are criticized for being older skewing, surely networks would be looking for a mix of programming like a British broadcaster?

Pretty much. There have been shows in the past- Joan of Arcadia for example- cancelled while having okay overall figures but bad demo numbers, in Joan's case most of the audience being north of 50.
I think BOTH numbers and demos/shares should be important. It's good for advertisers to have a strong younger audience, BUT does that mean they can't really have different shows which cater for an older audience? That's why there are a lot of younger looking shows in the US. |

Yeah the only number that networks really care about is the demo, the larger the demo number the more the network can charge for advertising. Harry's Law is a prime example of something that was cancelled for having a low demo even though it had viewing figures averaging over 11m per episode.
Quote:
Yeah, I think it's wrong. UK measures it better. So a show like Downton Abbey would probably get cancelled here despite getting 9-10m viewers just because not a lot of young people watch it? 9-10m in the US is the same as something having around 35m there, imagine if that was cancelled?

I still can't quite understand the logic but hey (and this is me being well in the target demo )

Adjusted up
CBS: NCIS- 18.83m (3.1) Person of Interest- 12.69m (2.2) ABC: S.H.I.E.L.D- 7.85m (2.5) NBC: The Biggest Loser- 7.16m (2.3) FOX: Dads- 3.42m (1.5) Adjusted down: CW: Supernatural- 2.33m (1.0) NBC: Chicago Fire- 8.08m (2.3) Wow, who would have thought that The Originals would beat Supernatural TO got 1.1 and 2.22m in total (highest rating yet, only 3 episodes in though).

Cheers Guys, that helps a lots
I still can't quite understand the logic but hey (and this is me being well in the target demo )To me its bizarre, I would have thought those who are older have more expendable income, most 18-49 people I know are busy climbing a career ladder and paying off massive mortgages. But they do take things like the income bracket the demo falls in into consideration, example the last couple of years of The West Wing, the demo was falling but a large proportion of their demo were those in the higher income bracket, I remember reading at the time that this had it saved it from cancellation for Season 6. |
