Yes, I think CBS will be hyping up Letterman’s final shows, hoping for a boost in their late night ratings (if not their primetime ratings too). Plus they will be hyping up James Corden’s new Late Late Show in March too. There’s lots of potential buzz to generate for CBS in terms of late night over the next 9 months. But they need it, their late night ratings are miles behind NBC right now, practically compared to The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.

And personally I’d love to see a primetime special with highlights of Letterman’s 30+ years in late night television. It would probably be a ratings success, and cheap to produce too.

What will be interesting though is seeing how CBS are going to try and hold an audience over the summer gap between Letterman and Colbert, and how this will affect Corden’s new show too. There’s a big risk they will just be sending even more viewers over the NBC at 11:30pm.
I think the last Letterman show will be a highly rated show, maybe not as high as Leno's last Tonight Shows but I wouldn't rule out 10m or so. I do wonder who they'll get as guests, I imagine Leno will be asked but I imagine he won't on the final show and Colbert is a cert as well.

CBS is in a tricky situation, The Late Late Show has a two months gap but they are filling that with guest hosts and The Talk, they can't do guest hosts since The Ed Sullivan will be out for refurbishments. My guess is that it's a mix of repeats of comedies and late night specials of The Talk, The Price is Right etc

The Mccarthy's aint doing half bad. I remember people had this down as a flop. But it's doing well. Likely because Mom is a lead in. I predict the 15 episode order will be become a 22 one soon.

Expect all non TBBT CBS shows to drop 0.5. So the McCarthy's will most likely be under 1.5.

Mom at around 2.3, Two and a Half Men at like 2.1 and Elementary at around 1.1.

CBS held much better than I thought. Not so Family Christmas and TBBT adjusted down a tenth, the rest of CBS down only 2 tenths (except for Men which held surprisingly) This is looking great for Mom now that TBBT is under 4.0 now and Mom still managed to tie its series high. TVD up

Finals:

CBS:
The Big Bang Theory- 15.49m (3.9)
Mom- 10.75m (2.6)
2 and a Half Men- 9.30m (2.3)
The McCarthys- 6.89m (1.6)
Elementary- 7.63m (1.4)

NBC:
The Biggest Loser- 4.30m (1.1)
Bad Judge- 3.75m (1.1)
A to Z- 2.49m (0.8)
Not So Family Christmas- 3.95m (0.8)

ABC:
The Taste-3.17m (0.8)

FOX:
Bones- 5.49m (1.2)
Gracepoint- 4.01m (0.9)

The CW:
The Vampire Diaries- 1.82m (0.9)
Reign- 1.42m (0.5)

Crazy to move Mom to 9.30pm and give it a repeat as a lead-in. It's like they want to purposely kill it off

TBBT below a 4.0, starting to age a little bit now.

TBBT down from a 5.1 from the equivalent episode last year to a 3.9, curse of the multi season renewal?!

Or that it is showing it's age. It's nearly eight years old now and I hear continuously that it's no longer as good as it once was.

There is rumor going around that Stalker has had it's episode order cut from 22 to 20.

I was joking but a drop of over a point in the demo is a bit more than showing its age IMO. Still performing great either way.

They brought it back for a single week then took it off again. Next week's is yet another only-repeat-of-the-night from CBS.

If they were going to air a Xmas special surely next week would have been more appropriate?

ABC:
The Taste-3.17m (0.8)
What is the point of having The Taste for the third season?? The first two seasons tanked horrendously. Does the show cost cheap enough to tolerate such low ratings?? Do they perform really well in some specific demo that we don't know about??

Just speculating, but it's not impossible that overseas and secondary sales make up for poor domestic ratings - as you state, it can't be an expensive show to produce, so it probably "washes its face", and like most cookery shows, is one of those formats that can repeated ad nauseam forever, so it'll always be a standby for any number of food channels throughout the world...

Friday final ratings:

CBS:
The Amazing Race- 5.92m (1.2)
Hawaii Five 0- 8.77m (1.1)
Blue Bloods- 11.09m (1.2)

ABC:
Last Man Standing- 5.99m (1.1)
Cristela- 4.45m (0.8)
Shark Tank- 7.05m (1.5)
20/20- 6.08m (1.4)

NBC:
Dateline- 7.27m (1.3)
Grimm- 5.07m (1.3)
Constantine- 3.30m (1.0)

CW:
The Librarians (r)- 1.55m (0.4)

Looking at the low ratings and how Shark Tank is low, Grimm looks strong in comparison. Highest scripted show, only behind Shark Tank and a news programme. This is a certainty for its 5th season.

Sunday earlies. Everything is all over the place due to NFL overrun and SNF.

CBS:
60 Minutes- 11.57m (1.7)
Undercover Boss- 8.95m (1.7)
The Mentalist- 8.41m (1.3)
CSI- 7.42m (1.2)

ABC:
Disney on Broadway- 2.93m (0.5)
Once Upon a Time- 5.60m (1.7)
Barbara Walters Most Fascinating People- 7.70m (1.4)

NBC:
Football Night- 6.88m (2.2), 10.29m (3.4), 16.94m (5.6), 21.82m (7.7)

FOX:
NFL Overrun- 17.14m (5.8)
The OT- 9.52m (3.5)
The Simpsons (r)- 5.04m (2.0)
Brooklyn Nine Nine- 3.53m (1.5)
Family Guy (r)- 3.14m (1.4)
Bobs Burgers- 2.53m (1.2)

That's not good for Once IMO, not very good for B99 either. It wasn't a very good night at all outside of sport. Undercover Boss probably did the best in theory.

Ah yes, international sales. I did hear that The Taste is getting local versions from overseas markets, so there is a franchise. If ABC cancels this show, I can see Food Network picking this up, despite their many lineup of cooking competiton shows they have already.

I am happy that Grimm is still doing strong on the Friday lineup. Fifth season is a strong certainty at this stage.

But there doesn't need to be a US version for the international versions to make money. I'm with the people who think ABC's sticking with it seems a little odd given its low ratings. Unless there's a big international market for the US version... but i thought most countries prefer to produce their own versions of such shows - like the UK did.

Monday earlies:

CBS:
2 Broke Girls- 7.83m (2.1)
Mike and Molly- 7.87m (1.8)
Scorpion- 9.89m (2.0)
NCIS LA- 9.45m (1.6)

ABC:
Christmas Light Fight- 6.00m (1.5)

NBC:
The Voice- 12.17m (2.9)
State of Affairs- 6.48m (1.6)

FOX:
Country Music Awards- 3.39m (0.9)

The CW:
Hart of Dixie- 1.20m (0.4)
Jane The Virgin- 1.27m (0.6)

The CW renewal battle gets even more interesting. This year must be one of the best years for The CW for a quite a few years. The last few years there have been obvious cancellations. But with Arrow, Supernatural, TVD, The Flash and The Originals being certain renewals.. it leaves The 100, JTV and Reign. All three shows that have recently risen. Reign has gone from a 0.3 and then got a 0.5 last week, The 100 keeping its consistent 0.5 and now JTV getting a 0.6. Even Hart of Dixie premiered not too badly. If this was the UK, all shows would be renewed, nothing is cancelled here unless it does terribly (eg. a show going from 8m to 2m in the next year) but seeing as its the US, and the country loves cutting off shows at the first sign of a drop, people will be outraged. In theory, nothing really should be cancelled on The CW, as the 0.5 is an average for The CW nowadays. The battle continues.
As for CBS, good to see 2BG still staying in the 2s.

JtV just got a couple of Golden Globe nominations. I think that secures its future beyond the borderline ratings numbers. HoD is more at risk, but could still get a renewal. For me, Reign is the more sure thing if we're lookong for a cancellation on CW.

First of all, Monday finals had JTV, The Voice, Christmas Light Fight and SoA adjust down.

CBS:
2 Broke Girls- 7.81m (2.1)
Mike and Molly- 7.85m (1.8)
Scorpion- 10.07m (2.0)
NCIS LA- 9.54m (1.6)

ABC:
Christmas Light Fight- 5.30m (1.4)

NBC:
The Voice- 12.07m (2.8)
State of Affairs- 6.18m (1.5)

FOX:
Country Music Awards- 3.39m (0.9)

The CW:
Hart of Dixie- 1.22m (0.4)
Jane The Virgin- 1.28m (0.5)

Tuesday early ratings:

CBS:
NCIS- 17.21m (2.3)
NCIS New Orleans- 13.96m (1.9)
Person of Interest- 8.82m (1.3)

NBC:
The Voice Season Final- 12.70m (3.2)

ABC:
Charlie Brown Christmas (r)- 6.30m (1.7)
Disney Prep and Landing (r)- 4.18m (1.3) and 3.62m (1.2)
Forever (r)- 3.12m (0.7)

FOX:
Masterchef Jr- 5.55m (1.7)
New Girl (r) - 2.19m (0.8)
Mindy Project (r)- 1.65m (0.6)

The CW:
The Flash (r) - 1.73m (0.5)
Victorias Secret Fashion Show (r)- 1.27m (0.4)

A lot of repeats, and to be fair, the repeats rated above than what I expected. The repeats helped Masterchef rise without competition, and The Voice final damaged CBS especially POI, but strangely didn't damage Masterchef.

Wednesday early ratings:

CBS:
Survivor Season Final- 9.74m (2.4)
Survivor Reunion- 7.86m (1.9)

NBC:
Michael Buble's Christmas in New York- 7.40m (1.3)
The Sing-Off- 5.10m (1.3)

ABC:
The Middle (r)- 5.61m (1.4)
The Goldbergs (r)- 5.03m (1.3)
Modern Family (r)- 6.00m (1.7)
Blackish (r)- 4.57m (1.3), 4.10m (1.1), 3.67m (1.0)

FOX:
Hells Kitchen Season Final- 3.60m (1.3)

The CW:
Greatest Holiday Commericals Countdown (r)- 1.83m (0.5)
The 100- 1.41m (0.5)

Those are pretty decent repeat figures for the ABC comedies, especially The Middle and The Goldbergs.
As expected for The 100.

HBO have confirmed they are no longer releasing ratings for their shows. They feel that the ratings they release are not actually the true representation of HBO's true audience size.

The Mccarthys- 7.10m (1.6)
