I wonder why NBC are airing two episodes a week. Sounds to me they want it off the air as quick as possible.

Empire earns a 4.5. Empire has quite simply been the biggest surprise hit of this year so far. The show isn't just a hit, it's actually a gigantic hit.

Jesus, a 4.5 for Empire, there are just no words how much of a monster this is! As I am not a fan of these kind of shows, it wouldn't interest me, I made it 20 mins in and thought, "I don't think its for me".

Arrow got a 1.1 which is fantastic and steady from the fall final. The 100 got 0.6.

I love it. But i know what you mean Salv, if it isn't your type of show, then at least you gave it a go. I am like that with shows to do with politics, terrorism and end of the world apocalypse type shows.

This shows how impressive Empire's growth has been.

"@FOXTV: In ratings: @EmpireFOX was up 8% over last week! It's the only broadcast drama to grow in weeks 2 & 3 among adults 18-49 in 3 years! #empire"

Promising start for Backstrom. Although many already have it down as this season's Rake, and we all know how that show ended up.

In full (just in case people can't view the site):

Thurs early ratings:

CBS:
The Big Bang Theory (r)- 11.63m (2.4)
Mom- 11.16m (2.5)
Two and a Half Men- 9.56m (2.3)
The Big Bang Theory (r)- 8.26m (1.9)
Elementary- 8.24m (1.5)

ABC:
The Taste Final- 3.03m (0.8)

NBC:
The Biggest Loser- 4.64m (1.2)
Bad Judge (Series final)- 3.04m (0.8)
A to Z (Series final)- 2.14m (0.6)
Parenthood- 4.43m (1.3)

FOX:
American Idol- 10.54m (2.7)
Backstrom (Series Premiere)- 7.98m (2.0)

The CW:
The Vampire Diaries- 1.65m (0.7)
Reign- 1.25m (0.4)

That's great for Mom increasing from the TBBT repeat which many new series on CBS don't manage to beat. Great for Men too, I reckon we could see a high 2s or low 3s for the series final. And there goes another two NBC comedies who fell victim to the NBC Thursday curse. What's going on there now?

FOX is enjoying 2015 so far compared to the awful 2014 in which only Gotham was the bright spot. American Idol doing better than I thought and now Empire being a beast, Backstrom premiering well, and Gotham steady, they should be happy.

Not very good for TVD on The CW, and low for Reign. Not a good night for them in comparison to Tuesday and Wednesday.

It was such a lovely sad and funny episode of Mom. Glad it rated well. Anna and Allison have to be one of the best comedic duos on television right now.

I wonder if FOX is still going to go ahead with their plan to only have one Idol episode from March? I imagine if Backstrom falters then it'll go to Fridays and Idol will remain on Thursdays

24-01-2015
Thurs finals. Mom, Backstrom, Men and Bad Judge adjusted down, Idol and The Vampire Diaries up.

CBS:
The Big Bang Theory (r)- 11.52m (2.4)
Mom- 11.05m (2.4)
Two and a Half Men- 9.31m (2.2)
The Big Bang Theory (r)- 8.03m (1.8)
Elementary- 8.28m (1.5)

ABC:
The Taste Final- 2.06m (0.8)

NBC:
The Biggest Loser- 4.48m (1.2)
Bad Judge (Series final)- 2.85m (0.7)
A to Z (Series final)- 2.09m (0.6)
Parenthood- 4.40m (1.3)

FOX:
American Idol- 10.65m (2.8)
Backstrom (Series Premiere)- 7.98m (1.9)

The CW:
The Vampire Diaries- 1.63m (0.8)
Reign- 1.16m (0.4)

Friday early ratings:

CBS:
Undercover Boss- 8.33m (1.4)

ABC:
20/20- 4.79m (1.1)

NBC:
Constantine- 3.48m (0.9)
Grimm- 4.97m (1.2)
Dateline- 5.75m (1.3)

FOX:
Worlds Funniest Fails- 3.06m (1.0)
Glee- 1.83m (0.7)

The CW:
Hart of Dixie- 1.24m (0.5)
Masters of Illusion- 0.74m (0.3)

That is weirdly high in demo for Dixie or is it just me? Such a shame that Grimm couldn't increase from last week as its certainly back on form, and it was up against mainly repeats so expected more. It got 1.2/1.3 in the half hours, so I hope there may be a possibility it can adjust up. Constantine did climb a tenth though.

No surprise Undercover Boss comes top, and to me, it seems still odd to see Glee in this state!

24-01-2015
That is rather good for Dixie and The CW have said a renewal for Dixie could happen if it's ratings are good. I wonder if Dixie will be like 7th heaven. That filmed it's 10th season as it's final season and even the finale was a proper finale, but it was renewed for an 11th season last minute.

Miss Universe really dented a lot of shows. Brooklyn 99 took a tumble to 1.2.

Miss Universe was way up year-on-year, last year's pageant got a 0.9 when it aired on a Saturday.

Agent Carter descends lower. While i would hardly it a flop, It has underperformed. and ABC have gone out their way for this show. It was hyped before it was even picked up. and then hyped when it was, and then hyped even more when the cast was announced and filming began. and hyped more when it premiered. But it seems to have all sizzled.

I would have expected these numbers, I didn't think it would be hit despite the hype.

As for the rest, The Flash is at a low, if it doesn't adjust up that is, but a 1.3 is still fantastic for the CW. Supernatural at a 0.8 is quite worrying, well it's still very strong for The CW, but it's down.

I feel for About A Boy on NBC

It wouldn't surprise me if NBC kept About a boy
Marry me started out strong but has flopped the last several episodes. Plus they have zero successful comedies apart from parks and Recs but that is finishing soon.

I think NBC will keep it purely for vanity reasons.

Although it could depend how Undateable does, which was originally a summer show and now being moved to as apart of the main schedule.

I think NBC will ditch About a Boy. It had potential, and after a good rating first season, should have got better treatment. Because, how often has NBC got a new comedy to the syndication level of 88 episodes in the past few years?

NBC have more than enough reason to start the comedy slate blank (again). Here's what's going against About a Boy right now:

1) It has less than 44 episodes, a mile away from syndication level (88+ episodes)
2) It had its episode order for season two cut recently.
3) It's rating hardly anywhere near season one levels, frankly not proving its worth for the network right now. The flop that is Marry Me is bringing it down with it.

I wouldn’t like to say one way or another in terms of what NBC is going to do with About a Boy, it really could go either way. To counter argue your points:
• Yes, its a long way off from syndication level but its an NBC Universal produced sitcom, so NBC have every interest in getting it to syndication. If it was a Warner Bros produced sitcom I’d say it would probably be a goner, but being an ‘in-house’ production changes things.
• Yes, it’s season two ratings don’t match the successful season one ratings. Do you read that as a drop in popularity/quality and axe it, or do you acknowledge its success in its first season and try and recapture it by moving it in the schedule and giving it more promotion? Recapturing an existing programme’s success (particularly if it hasn’t fallen too far from grace) can sometimes be much easier than starting from scratch with a new programme.

I’d say its too close to call right now.

It’s the biggest television ratings day of the year on Sunday, with the Super Bowl on NBC.

How do you think the Super Bowl will rate? And what about NBC’s special programmes to accompany it – the return of The Black List and The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon’s Live Super Bowl Special from Arizona?

Tues finals. Supernatual adjusted down, Marry Me and Masterchef up.

CBS:
CSI- 10.38m (1.6)

ABC:
Agent Carter- 4.63m (1.3)

NBC:
Parks and Rec- 3.48m (1.4) and 2.97m (1.3)
Marry Me- 2.26m (0.8)
About A Boy- 2.80m (0.8)

FOX:
Masterchef Jr- 5.15m (1.7)

The CW:
The Flash- 4.08m (1.3)
Supernatural- 2.06m (0.7)

Oh dear, Supernatural, quite shocked, its one tenth away from its series low 3 years ago I think for an episode. The Flash at a series low, but still very strong.

HOUSEHOLD RATINGS:

Apparently according to them, Empire grew AGAIN. What is going on? This show is a monster. And I said, I'm not a fan of the genre, but a lot of people loving it!

Empire is great but it's nothing groundbreaking. I had it down as a hit, but not a massive hit. But it's refreshing to see a show hit such high unusual demo's though. In some way, it repairs the damage left from Utopia, RBS, Gracepoint and Mulaney. I can imagine the bosses at FOX have huge grins on their faces through Empire's success.
