700k for The Leftovers. I am afraid to say that is really poor for a HBO drama. I can't imagine the 13 month gap between the series 1 finale and the series 2 premiere has helped.
That very few people actually seemed to enjoy the first season won't have helped either. Nor would the fact that its gone from having a lead-in from the final seasons of True Blood and Boardwalk Empire (if I'm remembering rightly) to having to carry the night by itself which clearly it wasn't strong enough to do.

Good observation. Indeed.

Apparently Castle and NCIS LA scored a 1.1 last night
A 0.8 for Minority Report as well.

Plus these sort of shows have turned into cliches now with people disappearing and/or returning in shows all over the place.

None have matched the superb mood of Les Revenants. It has been downhill milking the same idea over and over - and even then The 4400 was similar a few years ago,

Too often a trend appears and everyone copies it to the detriment of every attempt - rather than try to come up with something really original on their own.

I saw what I assume was a pilot on Netflix last night - with Nicholas Cage as an airline pilot when half his passengers and his co pilot disappear mid flight. It had one of the most ridiculous endings in history but from the final scene was clearly set up to lead into yet another series or sequel on the same theme. I assume this one (Left Behind) was rightly DOA?

Left Behind wasn't a pilot. It was intended to be the first in a trilogy of films and if I'm remembering right is based on a series of Christian books which already had low budget adaptations.

It's curious that they made Leftovers a 9pm show, being beaten by both Homeland and The Affair is a bit embarrassing for HBO.

Speaking of Showtime, I wonder how they are going to fit in Twin Peaks since they've renewed pretty much most of their shows aside from Nurse Jackie and Happyish and I assume Homeland and The Affair will be renewed

Ratings for Monday 5 October

ABC
8PM: Dancing with the Stars – 1.7
10PM: Castle – 1.3

CBS
8PM: Big Bang Theory – 3.7
8:30PM: Life in Pieces – 1.9
9PM: Scorpion – 1.8
10PM: NCIS: LA – 1.2

Fox
8PM: Gotham – 1.5
9PM: Minority Report – 0.8

NBC
8PM: The Voice – 3.2
10PM: Blindspot – 2.5

The CW
8PM: Penn & Teller: Fool Us – 0.4
9PM: Whose Line Is It Anyway – 0.4
9:30PM: Significant Mother – 0.2

Minority Report basically confirming its death and Blindspot basically confirming a back order this week I'd say.

I wonder what'll replace MR, I imagine Empire repeats then Lucifer in January. Not a good start for the relaunched Paramount Television.

NCIS Los Angeles will likely be cast off to Fridays or Sundays after this season.

I'd assume Leftovers has landed at 9PM given a general lack of other options at HBO. They literally have no other dramas ready to air this year. They've done a really bad job of having new content on tap to replace the departing True Blood and Boardwalk Empire.

On the subject of Twin Peaks a Twin Peaks/Penny Dreadful combo seems like good scheduling and would presumably help boost Penny Dreadful in the process and with Nurse Jackie and Happyish both gone the slot is open for that pairing as well. Although I suppose Showtime may want to avoid airing Twin Peaks opposite Game of Thrones on HBO.

I think MR will air out it's season. Like all of FOX's flops of last season did. But it wouldn't surprise me if it isn't moved to Fridays and they allow MR's timeslot to either be repeats, or they move the failing Sleepy hollow there or bring forward a midseason show.

Vinyl is January 2016 and Westworld still doesn't have a date yet but I wouldn't be surprised if it airs with either Vinyl or Game of Thrones and they move the comedies to the summer.

As for Twin Peaks, they still have House of Lies and Episodes to fit in since Billions is airing after Shameless. My guess is 9 episodes will air with Penny Dreadful and the other half will air in 2017

I'm not entirely convinced LA will survive this season especially now (creator and showrunner) Shane Brennan has two new shows in some form of active development with CBS Studios.

In terms of Minority Report replacements I'd guess a Ramsey series (God knows they have enough of them) slots into the Monday night slot until midseason.

I don't know as there are shows that will more likely be cancelled like CSI Cyber, Hawaii Five-0 or The Good Wife but at the same time, it should be better.

CBS have enough breathing room that they can afford to cut a lot of fat this year and I think its probably past time for them to do that. I suspect a lot may depend on how Supergirl does. That's a relative gamble for them in terms of the audience profile they're targeting. If it does well then it should give them a bit more confidence going forward.

CBS is trying to get younger But I wonder if they'll try and cut the number of procedurals

I see, thanks. Will make sure to avoid the other two if anyone bothers to make them.

I liked 'Left Behind' thought it was a fun film. would love to see the sequals if they ever get made.

The sequels certainly won't get made. It was a commercial disaster. There is however a series of 16 books you could read and an original film trilogy (you can get them from Amazon for £10 here). I'm not sure how closely they mirror the Nic Cage version though.

Oh yes I've seen parts of those movies, they were so bad I gave up. Didn't realise they were the same as the Nicholas Cage film.

I would be surprised. CBS are well known for their procedurals. But a fair few of them are flopping after all.

I don't think they necessarily need to cut the number of procedurals so much as they just need to replace some of them. As much as Supergirl is a departure for CBS its still a procedural. It'll follow the same villain of the week format as Arrow and Flash with a mix of serialised story telling on top. Leaning back into that model seems to be the way the networks are going with procedurals at this point in time as well.

Apparently The Grinder, Grandfathered and Scream Queens all hit 1.1 last night.

FOX were doing awful this time last year with their new shows.

Awful for FOX. Muppets continues to fall. Fresh off the Boat did good. iZombie did good. Quite bad that the big winner of the night was a two hour clip show of The Voice.

Was expecting a little bit higher for The Flash but its still a solid return. Can't believe Scream Queens.. It's turning into such a flop. Will be very surprised if it gets renewed now.
