News that should surprise no one. It'll be interesting to see how confident NBC are with Blindspot. Will they do what they did with Blacklist and air a handful of episodes without a Voice lead in?

After cancelling Extant, CBS has ordered a new summer series from Amblin and CBS Studios called American Gothic which is a 13 part murder mystery. I think that has potential as it's more in line with the CBS audience
CBS has reupped their deal with Amazon for streaming rights with Braindead being the first new series as well two summer series in 2017 and 2018. American Gothic isn't included but I imagine we'll hear who gets the streaming rights to that, CBS went with Netflix for Zoo but they could go with them or even Hulu |

Murder mystery doesn't seem like an entirely accurate description of American Gothic. They seem to be pushing the dark twisted family drama element more – it takes place within a family that discovers their patriarch is linked to a series of grizzly murders after his death and grow suspicious that someone else within the family was his accomplice. I think they're right to lean more into the genre trappings over the mystery elements. In general I think going genre is probably the right strategy over the summer particularly if you want streaming services to co-finance.

There's already been a show called 'American Gothic'. I suspect it's been long enough for them to recycle the title.

The summer series all seem to get a second series so I guess the model of selling the streaming rights as well as selling the overseas rights through CBS Studios does mean they're profitable before they even hit the air. |

Undateable is back with a live double episode. Let us know how it did in the ratings.

Awful return for Undateable, I don't know why NBC moved it to friday anyway. It's a good thing NBC only ordered 13 episodes. Reign did ok-ish. A 0.3 for a CW show on a friday is ok actually. I think The CW are eager to make it to 88 episodes and I hope they can. If Nikita, Dixie and Beauty can make it to a fourth season, then i am certain Reign will. |

Awful numbers for Blood & Oil and Cyber. The Last Man On Earth hits the danger zone. Quantico and Once Upon a time both tie together as Sunday's number 1 dramas. I bet ABC are annoyed. They banked on Blood and Oil to fill the soap drama spot left behind from Revenge. They also spent a ton of money on promo as well. Clearly no luck. I can't help but feel Quantico would actually have higher ratings if it did not have such a weak show in front of it. Maybe ABC should swap them around? |

What did Undateable get for the live episode last year?
I'm not sure how the numbers compare when it comes to network share and what is popular. I was hoping Undateable would be a grower, and that people would watch it by word of mouth. For me it is like 'Rules of Engagement'. It's the cast that makes it, although the numour is good too. |

The Walking Dead likely hit everyone's audience like it always does.
Madame Secretary still doing good ratings for CBS, considering most people wrote it off in its first season, it's good that it has managed to become a successful CBS drama that isn't crime related |

The ‘live’ gimmick doesn’t seem to have made any difference. I heard there was even a small wardrobe malfunction from one of the actresses on either the east or west coast feed. Looks like it’s too little too late though...

I am hearing that Crazy Ex Girlfriend and Jane The Virgin didn't do well last night
I really liked Jane but if it wasn't for the fact that critics loved it and that the lead actress won a golden globe, i don't think it would of been given a second season. But CW renew their lowest rated shows regardless. Look at Nikita, Dixie, Beauty and Reign, |

Yet a 1.3 for Last Man Standing, so Undateable’s poor ratings can’t entirely be blamed on its scheduling if another sitcom in the same slot is performing well (for a Friday).

‘The Walking Dead’ Ratings: Season 6 Debut Down From 2014, Beats NFL & ‘SNF’ In Demo
The zombie apocalypse is back but with a bit less bite than before. The Season 6 debut of The Walking Dead snared 14.6 million viewers on Sunday with 9.4 million among adults 18-49 for a 7.43 ratings, according to Nielsen. While great numbers for any show on broadcast or cable nowadays, that’s down 16% and 15% in viewers and the demo from the then and still record breaking Season 5 premiere of the AMC series on October 12, 2014. It is also down from the Season 4 debut on October 13, 2013, which had an 8.2 demo rating and 16.1 million total viewers, but is the third best season opener TWD has had – over the then record breaking Season 3 opener of October 14, 2012. However, right now, that’s also a clear 28% 18-49 win for the 90-minute “First Time Again” episode over Sunday Night Football. Down double digits from last week, the New York Giants dramatic 30-27 win over the San Francisco 49ers scored a 5.8 rating among the key demo with a total viewership of 16.13 million in fast nationals. |

While the ratings are still fantastic, it does show TWD is showing signs of decline.

My Crazy Ex Girlfriends bombs. Jane returns low. Blindspot is still kicking booty. Fair to say it is the breakout hit of the season. |
