Drops for Fresh and Limitless. Limitless was affected by Chicago Fire's return.

Fox had an awful night 1.0, 0.9 and 1.0... Wow.

If Rosewood gets any lower, it will be in danger

I'm starting to wonder if finding the next "Empire" or "Big Bang Theory" is just a fruitless endeavor for the big 4 networks. It will only be for 1 show and its getting harder to sustain quality or those ratings.

I wonder if scream queens may get moved to a different night, I bet they expected the young demo to flock to it, I know I did!

It's been a depressing year really for ratings. Imagine the ratings for next year!

American Horror Story plummeted on Wednesday:

I expect an even bigger drop next week.

I wonder if it is because there has been too many early cancellations in the past few years, and people are not willing to get into yet another series that might be cancelled early?

It does make you wonder or are people's expectations too high for shows these days.

Is it any wonder? Many of the pilots this season are either not good, meh/average or has that air of the familiar "been there, done that" about them - the last one in particular for me. In The Backlist we are still no nearer to finding out the mystery surrounding Liz Keene - and Liz Keene continues to be the dumbest no-clue "top of her class" FBI analyst I have ever witnessed in TV drama. Someone on the HTGAWM thread pointed out the lack of a plot in the show this season, and when I look back on what we have seen so far, they have a point. I stopped watching Castle after last year's mid-season break.

For me, it's not about having high expectations. It's about not having to watch yet another version of what it already on TV. Empire is now going to be followed by a Scorese/Jagger music-based drama set in the 70s called Vinyl. Blindspot has an whiff of The Blacklist surrounding it. Quantico has a trace of Shondaland-seque about it. The Player wants to pack in every idea going into its plot, it's almost too surreal for a show set in the present day. Agent X - which is to come - looks no different and comes across more as a vehicle for Sharon Stone than anything the viewers would want to see. And then we have the older shows which are coming up to their last final runs: The Good Wife and POI (whIch were struggling last year compared with how they did in the past). On. top of all that, we have cancellations which doesn't leave much room or time for people to be as a creative as they would like w/o having to do something that has already been done before.

I mean, all the above shows are ok and entertaining but I'm not surprised at the ratings they are getting.

Quality and I guess once the "shock factor" wears off and its now a "slower" story or build up, viewers just go somewhere else.

That could be a good reason. I sometimes think cable networks are cancelling shows as fast or even faster than the big 4 networks

0.7 for The Player - surely it'll be axed in a matter of weeks with numbers like that. Shame, I quite like it. It's completely ludicrous, but it's weirdly entertaining.

Yeah, Empire in its sophomore season being a case in point. Even though they remain very high, its ratings has been falling every week since its first episode aired.

I have placed my bet on either that or Blood and Oil to be first cancellation of the season.

I think people are very quick to drop shows these days. A couple of bad episodes in either a new show or an existing show and people turn off. I have already heard of people dropping Empire and HTGAWM already because the early episodes are not to their liking, which I think is silly and far too early to throw in the towel.

I think people expect too much from shows these days, largely because of the high quality show from cable. Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Game Of Thrones and The Walking Dead instantly spring to mind. These Television shows have managed to tick nearly all the boxes. High ratings, critical acclaim, award nominations and huge and loyal fanbases.

Unfortunately, the response would be that these networks have to be like cable in that way.

If not why bother? There's streaming and cable networks. I think the award shows are already giving this message.

Dreadful start for Truth be told. Dr Ken is holding well. I would expect a full season order in a few weeks.

Dr Ken is a show that has been universally slated. I actually like that the ratings have held up.

The Last Man On Earth is doing awful. Madam S does bad too. Apart from Quantico and Once upon a time, Sunday is quite the shambles.

NBC Mid-season shows Hot and Bothered and Superstore have both had their episode orders cut from 13 to 10. NBC have confirmed the change due to realising they will not have enough room on the mid-season schedule.

Nothing to do with NBC realising the shows are probably rubbish?
