Would Melanie be better in a girl band?

Considering how she has entered the X Factor on 4 occasions and went all the way to judges houses 3 times, the girl obviously has talent but perhaps is not quite suited to being a solo artist.

Would she be better as part of a girl group?

See her more in musical theatre personally

#1. She only made judges houses twice.
2008 and 2012 she was axed at the last stage of bootcamp.
2011 and 2013 she got to judges houses.

#2. She's far too good to be in a group.

#3. Getting rejected on The X Factor doesn't mean you're not good enough. It means absolutely sod all.

This. She's not a good fit for the show but she can still do her thing outside it.

She should have some acting lessons and go into theatre imo. I wasn't a big Melanie fan, but she has so good control over her voice she does deserve a career in singing.

Musical theatre tends to attract those with strong but unexceptional voices who just don't stand out . Melani is in another league.

I do think she would suit a girlband, but I mean that as in, it could be a way to launch her as an eventual solo . She is easily as talented and pretty as many who have done just that, and I think it would take the pressure she seems to feel off of her. When she tries to "show emotion " and "personality" , it is obvious that she is trying to be as sweet and likeable as possible instead of letting what makes her unique shine through. (Not sayingshe isn't sweet or likeable, she seems to truly be these things).

Right now, she lacks the confidence ,experience, and self awareness to really carry a show as a solo artist, but , unlike the typical musical theater performer, she has the potential to do it.

At the very least, she would be suited to high end corporate and wedding gigs, which are not the same as cheesy holiday camp or theater shows and actually could be called a career. I think , if she doesn't give up, there is still time for her to make it as a solo artist.I think a girlband would be perfect for her to move forward IF the rest of said band is made up of girls who are also talented and likeable, and they get good producers and songs. There is a place in any girlband where her shy, sweet personality would be an asset.

Launching her on X FActor after giving her an edit like they have would also work( She's be a given for wildcard of "5th judge" if the rumor I heard was true that they kind of planned this this season. She fits the description of the girl I got. Take with grain of salt, source was good but this was uncertain and I heard it early in the year), but I think a girlband would be a great route for her.

Treyc Cohen has been doing work in musicals, but her voice is that much stronger than Melanies.

Do you think? Her obvious fans aside, a strong but unexceptional voice is pretty much the charge against Melanie.

I can see in that as well. I can't see her as a solo pop star nor in a girl band. Lydia Lucy is a better candidate to be in a pop girl band even though I prefer Melanie vocally

This comment seems to come up about rejected contestants who have a 'clean' sort of tone, or don't fit any pop genre, but I think it shows that many don't appreciate how tough musical theatre is.

Melanie's voice is in no way strong enough, or robust enough to cope with MT.

Many of us are NOT saying she should do MT.

* By MT,theyre usually talking about the likes of Butlins, not the level that those who do possess outstanding voices and talent reach.(Which is on par with chart success imo,for those who are in it because they love and excel in the genre, in that only the best reach that level)

Really? I had no idea! I assumed they meant on the big stage.

Me too! I'd be very reluctant to call anything at Butlins "musical theatre" And that's coming from someone who loves a bit of Butlins.

Technically she had this really nice range and I thought that the XF would like to have her on the show with the whole 'The One That Got Away' narrative. I would find it bizarre if they don't have a wildcard planned because some of the choices seem AWFUL.

She can really sing but lacks that je me sais quoi required to be a popstar

I don't think she has that popstar look tbh
Better as a solo artist than in a band
