Psychologist Rick Norris claims X Factor producers are 'creating crueller twists' because viewers are becoming immune to sob stories.

In other news, the Pope is Catholic...

Heh. Psychologists will say anything to get in the papers.

Psychologists always seem to tell us what anybody with more than one brain cell could already have figured out.

Exactly this. "You feel hurt and angry, because I just punched you in the face. That'll be £200 please".

Quite, that vile exhibition that occurred at Boot-camp..was probably the first of a number planned for this series..

However, the "power," was in the hands of the auditionees, should they have so chosen to refuse to go along with it..

Like that was ever going to happen.
I think the best we got in the way of "protest," was a comment from Sam saying, "I don't like this."

However, I don't think they'll give up on the snivelling blub-fest angle just yet..

Why have 1 tactic to keep the public interested when you could have 2?

Rich.

Well that Irish girl didnt let them film her telling her family it was a no did she?

That was all cruel, some set up at the airport, others actually at their homes and they come in and say 'oh hi everyone, i didnt make it' with a camera lens in their face...lol

No wonder the irish girl said no to that and she also didnt really wanna give an interview to Dermot so good on her.

It must be embarrassing being a "Daily Mail psychologist".

On the level of a "Big Brother's Bit on the Side psychologist"

Well dohhh.. Who'd have thunk it?
The new innovation was selecting 6 in the full glare of publicity then booting them so that others could take their place - in the full glare of publicity. A selection could have been made without putting the contestants through that but hey it wouldn't be half as entertaining
Just when you thought X Factor couldn't sink any lower....

I would say its far crueller telling a bunch of mediocre performers with little chance of a future that they are potential superstars every week and have the judges drooling over them than any twist they producers come up with

I don't know why anyone is really surprised - everyone in the Media is the spawn of the devil!

Have these people never watched the film 'Network'???

Well my issue is why do they give do much airtime to somebody and then boot them out the door when it comes to the lives.

I do not believe that it is good viewing or creates more drama to increase viewings. It's sick in my eyes. Give the final 24 equal airtime from the start so the pimping will STOP and the public can make a good judgement on what they see
