What a sensible post. He clearly has not had the flu but a 'man cold' but it does point to the obvious - it's time to exit stage right.

People are always reckoning they have the flu when all it is is a bad cold - does my head in.

Anyway, Tess did say he'll be back this week, and I feel bad for it but I did feel a bit disappointed when she said that. I love Brucie, but the show works sooooooooo much better without him now.

Is it definite he's back? (Other than Tess saying it on Sat and the Daily Fail, I mean.)

I do hope so,. or if not....I hope they have got a capable stand in. Tess did a good job as a one off, but imo she is not really a front of house Presenter...as for Mrs Winkle she is so not funny...just very, very irritating...

It was the Daily Express.

Oh well - Im going out tomorrow night and recording the show... can see the FF button getting is usual Brucie workout!

Last week was SO much better - at least Tess can read an autocue properly - and with the earpiece is in communication with the producers so can move things along when needed....

So glad I got to see Tess and Claudia doing the show last week, if Brucie had been there, probably wouldn't have got out of the studio until mid-night!

There's no way Bruce could get over the 'flu in a week. I had it when I was 40 years younger than Bruce and I couldn't even get out of bed for two weeks. I was off work for over a month. I have no patience with people who have a cold and say it's the 'flu.

i wonder if he is slightly, desperately aware that he's surplus to requirements....

probably not. insight doesn't seem like his strong suit.

How depressing that he is back. It was so much better without him.

I'll have to record it now and not watch it live

Yep, I'm disappointed too - Bruce coming back now feels like dragging the show backwards - last Saturday was quite refreshing, now it'll be back to the same old stale unfunny one-liners, catch phrases etc etc zzzzzzzzzzzz. Ah well.

We forget how bad he is - until he comes back and there is another groan fest at the awful jokes, tiresome catchphrases etc.

Just retire Bruce - Strictly is not "your" show - and it's much much better without you!

I have an odd feeling it may end up as one week on & one week off.

Unfortunately for Bruce, the weeks off now show up how bad he is when he is there. Just wish the producers and Winnie would tell him enough is enough.

BIB And me. Will not be as enjoyable

I understand the reasoning, but it's a shame so many people have to resort to recording the programme and missing the live atmosphere. Even worse, those people who do so miss out on the chance to vote - which is really the whole point of the show.

With Bruce back the mute button on my remote is likely to wear out pretty soon. I do watch the show live, but mute as soon as he opens his mouth. He interrupts the judges so much I can't escape completely, but manage to miss the unfunny jokes, mumbling through the introductions and constant 'look at them, they're on their feet' and 'be proud, be proud'..

Dear Brucie, we love you so much we want to be sure you're completely recovered and so suggest you take another week or two convalesence somewhere warm and far away.

If as it would appear, it will have been; "one week on, one week off, one week on, one week off," by the end of next week, everyone will have the opportunity to judge what he brings to the show and how well it runs without him.

Yes alot of people say flu when its just a cold, but when you have really had the flu there is no way you will ever confuse a simple cold to the flu again! I first had it at 23 and it floored me for over a week! I would dread to think how long you would be out of action getting it at 85, but saying that has Brucie not had his flu jab?

I don't understand that bit? How does the 'live' atmosphere change if you record the show and watch it later (assuming you're not watching it twice)?

I'd guess that the vast majority of viewers never vote? I certainly never have and would never even consider it. It's just throwing your money away. If people want to, fine, but I certainly don't consider voting 'the whole point of the show'.
