Not only do I miss them as people, but I genuinely think that if Erin or Lilia were teaching Julien, he would've put in a better performance, especially in the Tango.

With new pros it takes a while to settle down unless you're steeped in Ballroom already like Natalie Lowe and Iveta were.

I also believe the show really needs a tall male dancer again, like Ian, ie 6ft plus. Kevin has filled the lovely English male pro gap this year, and it's nice to see him, for the average height ladies only though, so a perfect fit for Susanna.

Early days, but so far I don't really feel wowed by the 3 new pros. And I certainly hope Aliona is retained for next year, as she deserves it for helping them out so well this year, and she's a great dancer and interesting, nice person.

Isn't Aljaz the new tall male pro?

Is he taller than Brendan?

If more than a couple of tall female celebs are contestants, at least one ends up with a pro not tall enough - this year the mismatched couple is Rachel and Pasha.

I don't know but he is dancing with Abbey who is tall and does not look wrong with her

Personally I watch the show more for the pros than the celebs and I wish the producers would stop casting for looks over personality. The show is sorely lacking for the likes of Vincent, Erin, Ian etc. Maybe some of the new pros will fare better in future when they get a partner with a bit of oomph. Karen seemed uninteresting last year when she was partnered with wet lettuce Nicky but is shining now she is partnered with Dave. Hopefully Anya and Alijaz will be more at ease when they get a larger-than-life celeb.

On the point of heights, it seems to me that we need one or two taller males and females amongst the pros. Someone like Rebecca Adlington could only be partnered with Ian or Matthew. Ben Cohen would have looked so much better with Natalie or Erin.

I wonder if that's the reason they didn't invite her to be a contestant, as there were already 4 tall lady celebs taking part.

I totally agree with your last point, I think he would have danced with Natalie if fit.

But overall, I'm not missing the old pros. I like them freshening it up regularly, some work, some don't, but definitely more interesting.

As I only started to watch in series 6, I have never been too attached to the old guard, never quite warmed to Erin, flavia or Vincent that much either. I appreciate their strengths (Ballroom, AT...).
But I do understand those who do miss them. Last year I missed Aliona and Artem (as he didn't have a contender that allowed him to do his thing).

Anyway, I like some new pros as long as variety is provided.

I miss Erin too. She would be doing a better job with several of the male celebs than their current partners. And I think she would have had a word with Anton about his new hairdo as well - greasy hair product is not a good look in men over 40 (imo its not great under 40 either)

Yeah, it's like Morecambe & Wise. Erin's the one with the short fat hairy legs.

I've never really liked Vincent so don't miss him but I did like Flavia..

Were they sacked or did they decide to leave of their own accord?

Forgotten Matthew Cutler

I don't miss her Latin, but I do miss her Ballroom and her as a person, she was a lovely lady.

Don't miss Matthew Cutler, Ian Waite or Darren Bennet, or Lilia either. Enough time has gone by now, and I'm happy just to appreciate them when they were, but there is not want for them back. It's nice to know that Camilla is still involved in the show behind the scenes, but I have got used to not seeing her as well. I do miss Flavia and Vincent though, as I have yet to like Kevin, Aljaz, Anya or Janette, more than them (but time will prob solve that with a couple of the new Pros).

They left of their own accord. They have a new tour out in February and needed this time off to audition dancers and choreograph it all.

This is the statement they made back when it was announced they wouldn't be back...

Quote:
“Hi Everyone! After an incredible and unforgettable 2012 on Strictly Come Dancing for both Vincent and I, we have decided we won't be partnering a celebrity on this year's show.
However we look forward to continuing to perform on our favourite show and remain a part of the family, hopefully including partnering a celebrity in the christmas special.
We feel it’s the right time to invest in our dancing knowledge and become better at what we do and keep providing our audiences and supporters with continued excitement through our dancing. Aside from hopefully performing on Strictly we have lots of new projects ahead which we are very much looking forward to working on.
We have exciting times ahead with Vincent having his second child and me being newly engaged. We thank our supporters and fans for always being there and hope that together with us they look forward to exciting times ahead. We came to our decision earlier in the year and we would like to thank the BBC for their understanding and support. We wish everyone best wishes for the forthcoming series. Vincent & Flavia x”

Thanks for that.

I'm glad they left of their own accord and weren't dropped.

Flavia said they were doing their own show (theatre) and would be back next year. They said this to Tess on show 1. I miss Erin and camilla.
