.... and it's your lucky night!

New documentary @ 9pm on BBC4 tonight
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03cw8g0

followed by a 1974 studio performance

My memory is a canal boat holiday in the Midlands in 1974. We had a little cassette player, with one C-90 tape. It had Dark Side Side of the Moon on one side and Tubular Bells on the other.

Unfortunately I am of that age and I love the album. Richard Branson probably does as well!

'Hergest Ridge' wasn't too bad either along with a couple of singles. But not much else for me.

A friend of mine was a roadie for Mike Oldfield in the 1970s, just saying.

I'll be watching tonight, really looking forward to it.

Me too.

One of the 'must have' albums of the 70s

Think i listened to it once and that was plenty. Nice enough but elevator music. Okay if you want to test your new hifi. Hear all the instruments.

Best albums are (in no particular order)

Platinum
Hergest Ridge
Ommadawn
Tubular Bells
Tubular Bells 3
QE2

It's inextricably mixed up with this in my 1970s-confused brain.

"Princess Anne on sousaphone ..... "

How many of us can hum that bassline and the melody line above it?

Didn't know he did the primal scream therapy "rebirthing" thing.

Super programme.
I knew Mike Oldfield had mental health issues, but not the scale of them.

I can't say how much I loved that live version of TB part 1.
I remember watching it the first time, the graphics seemed crummy even then.
