I thought this would be a good subject to start for newbies in Halogen cooking, like myself.

I have just bought a 7 Litre Halogen oven. So far I did a few baked apples and some fruit buns.I have heard about putting some tin foil at the bottom of the bowl, don't know if it helps.

Tonight I want to try frozen fish in breadcrumbs and some chips. I usuallly par boil chips when I did them in the ordinary oven, but I'am a bit lost knowing what temperture to cook both and do they go in the same time. I think I read fish go at the bottom rack and the chips on the top rack. I do have an extendable ring, but not sure if I need to use this.

Any tips and advice appreciated thanks

Good thread.

My other half has recently bought a halogen oven and is still getting used to the timings for different foods.

Saying that though, I had Sunday dinner round there last week and it was really good.
She did the chicken and roast in the halogen oven and they were perfect. All vegetables were done in a steamer and the Yorkshire puddings in the normal oven.

Thanks for that. Yes I have heard good reports for cooking chicken, it stays more moist so I have been told. Also veggies for some reason tends to take longer than using a steamer
