To the layman Watch has absolutely nothing to do with the BBC. This type of programming celebration should be on BBC4, there's simply no excuse - it's not like it shows anything before 7pm

That's because it shares its transponder with BBC Parliament the same as BBC3 shares with CBeebies.

Didn't forget it was on but forgot to to record it. Good excuse to Avoid watching the rest of the run. Most of my viewings of sky channels such as sky1,gold,watch are ruined by the constant longer than ITV/c4/5 adverts which ruin it for me. No big loss.

I watched the Aztecs. I have the DVD but never got around to watching it again when I got the SE (which I only got to get Galaxy 4 episode 3).

I've mentioned this before but I was watching Doctor Who Explained this evening and noticed again that Colin Baker seems to be shaking slightly and seemingly uncontrollably, like a Parkinson's sufferer! Is he unwell?

Close enough. The fact is BBC3 and 4 can't start any earlier than they do as they time share with other channels.

ive known since the late Nineties back when it was UK Gold which at that time was a jointly owned channel with BBC Worldwide and Thames(Then it split into Gold and Watch about 5 years back) and im not exactly involved in the Satellite TV Business

I think the BBC missed an oportinuty of running some DR Who classics during the new afternoon lineup on BBC Two - Ie no Cagney and Lacey and instead put up an episode or two of DR who.

Or at the very least show one full story a week, say Sunday afternoon with a documentary or two leading up to the anniversary. Shame as not only is it great cross promotion but they could have hijacked the channel turning it into BBC Who instead.

Also would have loved to see a documentary on the recovery of missing episodes leading up to the 50th. Especially as the recovery is a large part of the history of the show itself and has an interest and place in every fans heart.

That's the problem though - why should they "take over" a channel to suh a degree? Yes, it's a huge event for us as fans, but for casual viewers it isn't. They don't want to spend time watching black and white Doctor Who serials on BBC2. Fans who WANT to watch that will more than likely already have the DVDs so the Beeb has nothing to gain by giving over so much airtime to Doctor Who.

They SHOULD celebrate the 50th, absolutely, and they will. But I think a lot of us fans are slightly disillusioned about the scale with which they can (and should) realistically do that.

Yes because the BBC has only announced a range of specially commissioned content on BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC4, CBBC, Radio 1 and Radio 2 to mark the shows anniversary. Hardly bothering at all are they? I mean so many shows in the history of television have had higher profile celebrations.

Looking at the EPG for next Saturday, Spearhead from Space is bring shown in HD on Watch HD. They must have the remastered version.

Strange seeing the Vidfired clips of stuff I've seen many times as film prints.
