His marking seems to get more ridiculous. Was Julien's jive really worth the same score as Ashley's samba?

Short answer- Yes, he has, and no, it wasn't!

8 for Abby was ridiculous as well.

No it wasn't

The jive was totally out of sync.

If Julien was a 7, Abbey was a bloody 10! Julien was terrible.

I'm not looking forward to him returning to DWTS. I'll endure twice the senile scoring.

How he gave Julien a 7 for that Jive is beyond me, a trip to Specsavers required Len

If Julien was a 7 he needs paddles up to 20 for Natalie!

He has lost the plot. Totally ridiculous scoring.

It isn't any worse than it normally is. He has a five mark range from 5 - 9. To get a 5 from Len you have to be getting on for Quentin Wilson levels of abysmal so, in reality, he only has 4 marks to score 14 couples. It isn't a great surprise, therefore, that he ends up tying people who are poles apart.

When will folk learn that the individual votes don't matter - the total does because it decides positioning on the board and it was very obvious tonight that the agenda was to tie a lot of couples in the mid range.

He seems to have a soft spot for Mark, which I wish the other judges shared.

Julien went wrong three times before he took his hat off - and got a 7. Ashley and Ben also got 7 off Len...

I cant believe he gave a 8 to abby, she sat down for half the dance and when she danced it was awkward.

I didn't get it at all. Julien did give his best dance but in no way was it worth a 7.

You're scrutinising the decision-making process of a man whose modus operandi seems to hinge on shouting a number in a silly voice.

I think that when they give Bruce the heave-ho (next year, please) he should take Len with him. And Anton too.

That's true. He was always considered the ballroom guru, and nearly always used to have something to say about technique. Now that all seems to be down to Craig, or even Darcey.
It's difficult to see what function he serves any more, even Bruno offers more practical advice than Len these days.
As for his marking..it's just a joke.

I've posted in the Ashley and Ola thread about Len's marking. Apparently in Dancing With the Stars (the American version of Strictly) this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVer2-OQwFw is worth a 9!!! in week 8 - not only according to Len but according to Bruno and America judge Carrie-Ann Inaba too.

I love it when Len says "seven" but it needs to be deserved IMO and Julien's wasn't justified if Ashley's Samba warranted the same mark ...

... though let's see if either makes the reverse dance and see what Len scores that ...

He's 69 and gets a load of dosh ergo why should he be interested anymore in what is good dancing and what isn't.
Craig is the most discerning one here in this show which gets more dire each series that it stays on TV.
The Paso Doble has now become the nonsense dance in this current series bearing litlle resemblance to the dance I remember and the music - well, no comment.

Totally agree. They've all lost the plot! Well past their sell by date.

Include in that list, the Dave Arch band as well and then we might have a half decent series.

Not liked Len for a while now, his scoring is erratic and also hes quick to jump in and be critical of Craig when hes giving his comments but if anyone dare to disagree with him then he tends to spit his dummy out. Craig is easily the best judge and its taxi time for len.
