Never liked the original, but really liked what Abi did to it. Shame I believe all her songs will sound the same as will get very boring.

Not really comparable. Abi completely re-worked the tune. Using a lot of minor notes and some note bending to frame it differently.

Wasn't great, but the show producers like her due to her instrumental ability, so just watch the judges sing her praises as if her voice gives birth to unicorns.

Awful beyond words. How she got this far baffles me.

She should stick to playing the piano and letting a stronger vocal singing sing the lyrics.

She would be great in a double act.

Ah well.

She was excellent.”

Not really. Nothing wrong with doing a song differently at all. She was totally out of tune, constantly, throughout the entire song. Didn't you notice?

I really liked it. My favourite tonight along with Kingsland Road and Lorna so far.

Singing isn't just about hitting notes, it's also about telling a story.

I was uncomfortable with how pitchy and out of tune it was, perhaps down to nerves. She really wasn't excellent from a technical viewpoint.

Hahaha!

I'm glad this thread exists. They all love her on the live thread and I was starting to doubt my hearing.

She started well but as her voice got louder she got worse. Reedy voice, totally average. Like any 16 year old singing in front of their mirror with a hairbrush.

I thought it was great, very different from the original and it was not out of tune throughout, regardless of whether it floated your boat or not!

this.

I would rather hear someone sing something different, at least she plays a bloody instrument, so is half way to being creative. its the only performance tonight that hasn't made me want to rip my ears off.

Yes, thank you.

I hate being patronised by someone saying it's cos we don't like something 'different' when he/she has no idea what's in our record collection.

Nothing in the X Factor is new or innovative, by its very nature. And Abi was a weak derivative of so many female vocalists.

same here. I'm all for something a bit different. Paul Akister's voice was sensational, but this girl can't hold a tune to save her life.

The judges have made it very clear that having excellent vocals is not essential.

Cat caught in a gate territory, out of tune and flat, The girl cant sing and I reckon most of them can play an instrument of some sort, Its a singing contest not an instrumental one.

Part of the script of course....they don't even say what they really think, just what the producers tell them beforehand.
