Dave and Karen seem determined to make each of their dances the joke act of the night

Mark is more heavily built than Dave but at least he's making an effort to learn to dance

I made sure Dave got none of my votes tonight and even voted for Vanessa - at least she's trying harder than Dave imo

I didn't think their American Smooth was a comedy routine.

But his Paso tonight certainly was, very little Paso content.

No I'm thoroughly entertained by them . Rachel, Fiona, Patrick, Suzannah even Ben bore me to death . I would rather watch dave and karen routines

Possibly I will tire of them in due course but not yet.

Watching their VTs on ITT I'm satisfied that Karen is trying to teach him good habits.

He hardly did any dancing in his routine tonight.

Dave's a good contestant. It's an entertainment show and it's good to see someone enjoying themselves and Dave's enjoying himself.

I think the test will come when they get a full on ballroom dance, AS you can get away with but in future see if he can show some effort and improvement in technique without a gimmick to fall back on.

I'm loving him. He is really enjoying himself and is very entertaining. He also is such a lovely guy.

I certainly enjoyed his dance tonight more than Vanessa's, Rachael's, Julian's and Suzanna's

I can take him or leave him. Im not desperate for him to be out but I don't share this love of "oh he's so funny". I wouldn't cry if he stayed or went

Entertainment comes in all forms like great dancing, music, costumes, story telling, drama, comedy etc .

I find all the couples entertaining apart from one or two.

People will `love` the comedy/underdog routines until week 4 or 5 when two decent upper middle/lower top tier contestants end up in the dance off then it'll be all `dave taking the place of better dancers` crying.

Happens every year.

Agreed. I look forward to Dave and Karen's routine as much as I look forward to the able dancers. The middle-of-the-board dancers bore me and I would certainly pick Dave over the tiresome Vanessa and even more tiresome Julien.

And kudos to Karen for choreographing routines that appeal to Dave's comedic nature without disrespecting the dance itself. That may not have been the best paso you'll ever see, but it was recognisably a paso and Dave tried to convey the character of the dance, even though he couldn't manage any of the techniques.

And at least he's genuinely trying, which is more than can be said for other comic turns we've had over the years. My favourite dance of the night was Natalie and Artem's rumba, but they're safe at the top of the leaderboard, so I voted for Dave and Karen.

I love Dave! I can't wait to see him attempt the Charleston. I just hope he is kept in long enough!

Come on Dave and Karen!

I like him because he's great fun, the trouble is now ,that I know what to expect from him and also expect him to stay in, so i have to admit to being a little bored of him tonight and expect to get more bored with him as the weeks go by.

I do actually prefer Mark, who is also great fun but is trying much harder to gain some dance experience and seems surprisingly light on his feet. Dave is I am afraid becoming a one trick pony.

He's what the show is about. An honest beginner, trying hard, learning and entertaining. Plus he's intangibly endearing. Love him.

Yes.
I was tired of it last week.

It could be argued that the Paso is a bit of a comedy routine.
