I'm hoping Natalie and Artem attempt it and blow all the others out of the water.

I'm only disappointed that Craig isn't calling it saaaarm-ba these days.

Frankly it's just mincing about. What's there to like?
For me it's like salsa. To be performed and enjoyed. Not a spectator sport. |

Out of all the seasons so far... I have yet to see a Samba that wows me.
I hate to go to DWTS, but this Samba by Elizabeth Berkley was incredible. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75Q9nMH0dpk why can't strictly stars produce something like that? |

I loved Zoe and Ian's Samba. Wasn't keen on Matt and Aliona's but I think the disco music probably had a lot to do with that (I love the song but not for a samba). I also loved the choreography for Chelsee and Pasha's samba, especially the opening which she did on her own, but she went wrong a couple of times near the end so, although I love rewatching that one, I couldn't call it a wow samba.

This is the one I'd pick. It had attitude and character as well as good moves. I was so disappointed when Jade was forced to withdraw from injury and sad to learn about its impact on her athletic career.
It's amazing that Ian's sambas are remembered when he was from the ballroom tradition - and I'm looking at Anton when I say that. Yes, bring back Ian! ![]() |

I think that the samba that Natalie chereographed for Scott Maslin was a brilliant routine much better than Ailona's for Matt B but he just wasn't up to delivering it if Nat's ever handed a partner who can do latin then we'll see a great samba from her - watch this space.

I probably won't explain this well but for me the samba you see on SCd bears little relation to actual samba so is always going to be a bit tame. It's toned down and stylised.
Samba is the only dance on Strictly I can say I have more than an amateur knowledge of so am usually disappointed. But within the ballroom/latin rules then occasionally there are sparks of excitement. |

I generally don't like the Samba music choices so that always puts me off it.
Didn't really enjoy Elizabeths Samba op sorry! Jade Jones' was one that i did enjoy though. |

I enjoyed Ian and Zoe's Samba
![]() Sorry But I don't rate that Samba from DWTS that you linked, OP. The movements were too sharp and dramatic for a Samba and there was virtually no double bounce from either the celeb or professional. Edit: Just watched Denise Lewis' Samba on youtube ( I didn't watch that series..I started watching from the following year, I think ) Wow, Wow, Wow! Now that's what I call a Samba. I hope she got straight 10s for that. |

But for all those negative comments about the dance and dancers of the Samba on DWTS, wasn't the actual show so much better than the tawdry BBC effort with the dreadful Brucies and Tess Daly etc?
On balance I wish that our show was much, much more like the American version and it's not often that you'll here that from me. |

Eurgh! Absolutely not..
The day SCD becomes like DWTS is the day I switch off. Blindingly white false smiles on botoxed faces, no humour ( you'd never get someone as off- the- wall as Claudia on DWTS ) No. We were the first and we'll always be the best. |

I find the casting in America is very strong, but it's ruined by professionals who insist on teaching the dances to be performed at 100mph and totally lacking in technical content. They've also ditched the band for the most part, and now just play a studio recording of the song, which has totally killed the atmosphere of the ballroom. |

Me too. Samba is my favourite dance on Strictly and I thought Zoe Ball's Samba was excellent and memorable.
