They've done it wrongly. They've named two of them "ratings thread" and this one "ratings thread (part 3)" each 1 should be part something.

IMO they should have left it open till new years and just have a new 1 each year.
The second one is called Part 2. (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...d.php?t=937319)

Yeh, a new thread a year would have been good.

But I think they're splitting it every 400 pages. There have been about 700 pages so far this year, so it would have been split anyways using their "400-page" policy.

I suppose. Perhaps we should try to keep discussion of soap ratings and reality ratings in their respective threads to lessen the number of pages used per year?

No. All ratings should be reported and discussed in this thread, as it is a general ratings thread. Also, this thread thrives on the discussion of shows which have their own section.

It will just be split at 400 pages, thats all. Its no big deal and to be honest I don't think most people will really care once we're used to seeing a lower number of pages, I mean who honestly used to frequently go back and read pages from very early on anyway? And when I mean frequently I mean as much as you post in the thread. It makes no difference, we can still speak about current ratings, just the thread will be cut short every now and again.

Not a good idea, in my opinion. We should be able to discuss any show on this thread. The "Soaps Ratings" thread and other "reality show threads" are very quiet also. And the comments you get on there do get a bit repetitive (for e.g. "Well done EastEnders").

Why? This is a ratings thread - if we're going to start excluding certain shows to discuss we might as well not bother.

Any news on last night's ratings yet?

I'm particularly interested to see if the IT Crowd did well for C4 last night.

Yeah. What about just using this thread (Part 3) until the end of the year then starting a new one "Ratings Thread 2009". It might run up to more than 400 pages but DS may keep it open knowing that a new one will be started each year so it won't keep on getting bigger indefinitely.

But then who the hell am I to suggest that, I hardly post here, lol.

Well why have a seperate soap ratings thread in the first place then?

The 'Soap Ratings Thread' was set up before the 'Ratings Thread'. Someone obviously thought it would be good to have a thread to talk about all ratings, in general. People can discuss soap raings ni both threads.

Because it's in the soaps forum. I don't see your point. Are we not allowed to discuss them here now because there's a thread for them in the soaps forum?

Honestly. As Sam said it's no big deal - it's just a ratings thread on an internet forum. Get over it.

I'm not saying it's a big deal Agent .

I'm just saying I'm not too keen on the splitting up of the thread as it means people like RZT will have to rely on barb's site and searching for the other threads to find old ratings when doing comparisons rather than just going back through the thread and because the ratings thread started at the beginning of 07 so it made sense to replace at the beginning of 08 and have a yearly archive.

I'm not saying we shouldn't discuss soap ratings in here, but perhaps we shouldn't go into them in much depth here (just noting if they're up or down and why we think that is) and save the rest for the soap ratings thread. That's all. To take the strain off so D.S. don't split them as much.

Does anyone else get confused between Digital Sid and D.M.N? LOL.

It's a real problem for me. Your posts are so similar and you have similar usernames (well, in that they both begin with 'D' but I can't hold that against you). Oh well.

Shame about the thread being split up but I imagine DS wouldn't do this if they didn't have to. I believe the technical reason for this is; the bigger the thread is, the more strain it puts on the servers every time someone views it, and with this being such a popular thread it was unsurprisingly a prime target during this forum tidy up.

Can't say I have lol .

I do sometimes see posts by Sid_1979 or whatever he's called and think "I don't remember posting that" though, before realising it's a different Sid.

That one has been split up into several parts as well.

Miraculously one of my old haunts The Sunset Beach Thread has SURVIVED so far, and yet it has over 100,000 posts.

I'm not sure I should be advertising that all over shop really, should I?

To balance it out I'm a total news junkie, I love QI and BBC FOUR is the best thing since, well, BBC TWO.

That's better. My reputation is restored somewhat.

Not really.

You're username begins with "D" as well.

Can't see how you can be confused when there are like 10 "r"'s to contend with.

The split means I can't really have a good idea of who stalks this thread. Oh well, for Part 3 since beginning of October:
