I'd imagine SCD will win tonight, but I see what you're saying.

I saw the bit when Len was shouting at the other judge, and I don't think it's ever gone that far on XF before. However, they're not happy about it on the SCD forum, and nobody there seems to think it was good TV, so will it have a negative effect on the show?

I'm thinking around 10.3m or so and the show has passed 10m before, last week it had 9.7m so it's not a huge increase that I'm expecting.

Sometimes controversy doesn't work, Sharon being one example. But then again, you have Laura being eliminated in a shock move and the huge surge in the results show ratings last week. Or Louis being fired and reinstated giving last years auditions a huge boost. Big Brother always jumps up for controversy as well.

I just think this has been so huge, it will surely have some effect.

Although there was a bit of drama on XF tonight with Danni crying. She seemed to disappear at one point as well, but they seemed to cover it (she could have just been getting her make-up sorted, I suppose).

I dont know about that. Apparently Dannii Minogue was in tears on TXF tonight.

It was rather barbaric what he said. (Thats Len I'm talking about)

True. Louis was being very childish but Dannii's crying was pathetic. I can't see that having a huge effect on anything, though.

I think there was a bit more to it than what we saw. She was getting a really rough time from the studio audience for some reason, whatever she said there were some people just booing her anyway.

Still, it was rather pathetic. Piers Morgan can't even have his name mentioned on BGT without the audience booing madly and the same went for Simon in the early years (and still occasionally just now).

Not sure whether or not it was a publicity stunt to get Danni back in the limelight. There were real tears leaking out and they didn't actually play it up, in fact, they seemed to be trying to cover it up. As you say, it won't make any difference to tomorrows ratings.

Try as she might, I don't think Ant and Dec will be stupid enough to leave ITV for Five, for what will surely be far less money and projects that simply can't compare to what they're doing currently.

You might be right. The audience will switch over so it should give XF a boost. The only thing that will hinder XF IMO is that ridiculous early finish, but regardless it'll be corrected in the time shift.

Don't we have Friday's ratings yet? Oh well.. quite looking forward to seeing how last night's strictly did, though.

Off topic - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=YzlJo0vwAqM <- Quite an insightful look in to how TV ratings are recorded.

I really don't know what the issue is with The X Factor and it's early finishes. Unless it'a bout ad time, but that's the second time in a row where the main show has finished much earlier than scheduled.

Which one are we expecting:

"X Factor wins Saturday night battle"
"Strictly and Seargent claw through the ratings"

I hope the first.

However, based on when TXF finished, I think we shouldn't read too much into their overnight rating.

IAC's rating will be interesting as it will have a lot of 'XF audience' as well as its own fans tuning in specifically for it. Hmm....

I'm surprised that Strictly didn't come out on top, considering the blanket coverage it's had this week. I think a lot of people may lose interest in it now.

I think you made a mistake with Outnumbered - it got 3.44m.

I know saturday night's designed for "TUBBIN" (http://www.royalmarinesbands.co.uk/r...ce/Slang.htm#T), but isn't anyone just a little depressed at how reality/talent shows can average over 10m per hour throughout the evening, when something as stunning as "Einstein and Eddington" only gets 2m...

People are looking for a bit of fun/entertainment on a Saturday night.

If it was shown at 9pm on a Sunday or Monday on BBC1 it would probably get 5-6m at least.
