How does ITV1 get a 24% peak share based on those figures? I know we have not got the full ratings but it does not look right to me.

At a guess I'd say switch BBC1 with ITV1 and you have your answer Broadcast often switch the 2 round causing confusion.

Oops - it was me who got mixed up not Broadcast.

I thought A Touch Of Frost would be one of the highest rating shows of the year but with Stephen Fry denting its audience last week, and it going against the Strictly results show it won't beat New Tricks or Doctor Who this year in my opinion.

But those are shows that are well established on Saturday nights.

If Britannia High was getting 8-11m for the past 4 years on Saturday nights I don't think it would matter going at 6.15pm on Sundays, but it new and untested and looks crap, so I cant help but feel it might struggle a little.

About the schedules, I've just seen that Stephen Fry In America is down as airing on that Sunday, too. So, as Little Dorrit's time is in red, I'd say that was right, so Fry will air at 8pm, with SCD at 7.15pm, suggesting a method in ITV's madness (though BH is earlier than I would have liked).

Light entertainment and the main two Soaps continue to dominate the top of the chart. Although interestingly it's Dramas that currently lead the way with 13 entries, Doctor Who being the highest rated with (10.57m). BBC1's New Tricks and ITV1's Lewis continue to perform extremely well, both comfortably inside the top 20.

Also of note: The exclusion of England at Euro 2008 and the possibility of some huge audiences means the highest rated sporting event of the year is still the Champions League Final, just breaking through the 10 million mark. Reality Television had taken a knock at the start of the year with the absence of Celebrity Big Brother, and it's sister show failed to make an impression in the ratings a few months later. The highest rated Reality tv show is currently The Apprentice with a hugely impressive (9.29m). ITV currently have the highest rated Comedy of the year with Benidorm (7.14m). The BBC continue to impress in the Factual/documentary category with some solid performances from Life in Cold Blood, Who Do You Think You Are and The Antiques Roadshow.

That top Channel 4 show will be Peter Kay's reality show spoof once the final consolidated ratings are in.

Britannia High was never going to be in the heart of primetime, some here even had it in fantasy schedules post 9pm.

It's a teen / kids / family show. It was always going to be teatime / early evening.

Early evenings on Saturdays belong to SCD, it would get buried there. Sunday is the only alternative.

I don't recall Five getting such high figures for CSI. Was it the Without a Trace one?

Is the Champions League split up into Pre-Show; Match and Post-Show like the World Cup?

The F1 (if it was split up) would almost certainly splot in ahead of Euro, and possibly round the 10m figure (last year; the final round in Brazil peaked at 10.4m)

I was away when the crash happened, didn't realise the ratings were so high that night.

I don't think it was. Its a practice we haven't seen for a few years, though in terms of sporting events, gives us probably a better indication of the real levels of interest.

It does annoy me when talent shows call their results programmes something different to the main show - its a bit of a cheeky way of boosting representation in the Top 10's. If they all do it, by the time the year is out we'll probably have 8 talent show programmes in the top 20 and quite possibly 7 in the top 10. (ie, BGTx2, XFx2, SCDx2 and DOI).

Here is the half-hour breakdown for Eli Stone which scored 8.82m in the US.

10pm - 10.07 million
10.30pm - 7.57 million

That is a huge drop!

I'm eagerly waiting the ratings for Pushing Daisies. Since the final Presidential Debate is on in the US, the ratings for Pushing Daisies might bump up but I suspect 5.4 million.

Then why not ally it with teens/kids programmes alongside it, for example TV Burp and You've Been Framed? SCD doesn't start until around quarter to 7 now, so the 6 o'clock hour would be vacant for Brittania High to get a jump on it. Plus Harry Hill and You've Been Framed would keep a decent audience until the X Factor starts.

As it is, Brittania High is now on alongside a two traditional 'elder audience' dramas in Heartbeat and Touch of Frost. It's like expecting chalk to go with cheese.

Looks like on Sat 25th, Strictly will be starting on 6.35-8.05pm. So probably a 30-45 min clash against the X Factor. The clashes will probably be the main reason why XF2008 might miss out on surpassing BGT2008's official average of 10.2m.

Will SCD have enough couples for a 90 minute show? Looks like they'll have to pad that episode.

I think they'll have 11 couples- not too sure about Strictly, but on the X Factor 11 contestants would take around 1.45-2 hours. So, I think it looks ok.

That F1 figure was just a peak figure. I think the Champions league final peaked with over 13m. The 10.05m is an average of the entire coverage (including 45 minutes buildup) from 19:00.

I would hazard a guess that the champions league final is actually the most watched programme of 2008, if you include Sky Sports viewers and people watching in pubs and clubs. The total live audience would surely be closer to 20m.

Yeh probably. The UCL Final match got something like 13m combined, and add on about 1-2m who watched in pubs.

The match probably had a combined peak of around 17-18m which is really impressive, yet expected as it did involve two English clubs.

It works out as around 10 minutes each for every couple. When you consider Bruce's waffle at the start, the shots of training, the dance itself, the judges remark and the scores that is running it tight, so 90 minutes will be easily filled, I think.

Apparently, the next episode preview for Pushing Daisies didn't air in US and it usually does. I'm thinking it might be because it's either canceled, moving time slots, or ABC wasn't sure to air it next Wednesday until the ratings are in.
