I'm surprised that in the run up to Quantum of Solace, ITV hasnt premiered Casino Royale as it would of have got great ratings but I guess that they are saving it for Christmas or Easter.
Do ITV still own the multichannel rights to Star Wars as they've never repeated them on ITV2 or ITV4 in comparison to Bond. Unbreakable is the weak link in Five's weekday schedule but they are doing okay at the moment with the 8pm and 9pm slots easily breaking 1m. Targetting the male demographic with Nature Shock, Axe Men and Police Interceptors has paid off and upcoming programmes like Dangerous Adventures for Boys look good and could do well. |

ITV2/4 never seem to show the Star Wars films for some reason and I've wondered about this aswell. I agree, Unbreakable is about the only slot underperforming for FIVE atm with every other 8-10pm slot breaking the 1 million mark on weekdays. Dangerous Adventures For Boys looks like it could be a huge 2million+ hit for FIVE if it is scheduled properly. In general FIVE are having a great time at the moment, however there is a problem that virtually ALL peaktime slots excluding the soaps are aimed at men. |

Really surprised Spooks only delivered 5.5m for its first episode. I really thought it would top 6m. Excellent episode last night though- really enjoyed it!

As someone asked the Coronation Street episodes ran more or less to time and the first did not end after 8 pm (but at around 7.58) which is uncommon when Eastenders is on at that time.
The second actually ended soon after 8.55. |

An outstanding night for E4. They must be delighted with Dead Set!
1900 - Hollyoaks..............799,000 1930 - My Name Is Earl....344,000 2000 - My Name Is Earl....474,000 2030 - My Name Is Earl....450,000 2100 - Friends..................345,000 2130 - Friends..................337,000 2200 - Dead Set...............1,410,000 Audience Share 16-34: BBC1 - 13.8% ITV1 - 11.1% C4 - 10.5% E4 - 6.8% BBC2 - 4.6% Five - 4.4% ITV2 - 3.3% It's interesting to see the difference in the strategies of Zai Bennett at ITV2 and Angela Jain at E4. ITV2 have alot of original shows running all through September-December and have tried to promote the channel. E4 seem to be going for "event" programming like Dead Set, which they show over one week, spend alot of money on and promote heavily. They will repeat this with a Hollyoaks Late Night special over 5 nights in November. The positive for ITV2 is that they have a really good looking schedule on the surface, bu the negative is that they don't have as much time to dedicate to promoting a single show. The reverse works for E4. As for Dead Set, I loved it. I think they made the right decision to make last night the hour long show, because the first half hour was quite slow and just set the scene. But once Davina got attacked, things moved into gear! There will be a feature length repeat on Saturday night for those that missed it. |

NBC had quite a poor night again on Monday but Dancing With The Stars is doing very well on ABC. The FOX ratings are missing from your post.

The soaps are still quite low; really surprised EE didn't top 9m as this week has some big stuff in it. Dead Set did fantastically; i think it'll hold up around 0.9-1m for its run. Autumnwatch pulls in some brilliant figures for BBC2. |

Interesting news that I've found on the soaps forum, GeorgeS will probably find this particuarly interesting
![]() http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2008/10/...-lifeline.html This is actually quite funny considering the BBC wanted this as a replacement to Neighbours, but now FIVE is getting this aswell. Though I'm not to sure as to why FIVE have bought this when it only gets approx a 2% share on BBC2 at lunchtimes last time I saw the ratings on this thread-it will bomb big time on FIVE and the only reasoning I can think of is that FIVE think it will capture the H&A/Neighbours audience. I can see this airing in one/all of these slots: FIVE 2:45pm FIVE 6:30pm FIVER 7:30pm Personally I could think of much better shows FIVE could aquire from Australia looking at recent Aus ratings. |

They should consider repackaging it, new titles, new name, etc. Might appeal more to a new audience. |

Thank you Thebenster for typing all the ratings up daily. I sometimes used to do it, but don't have the time anymore! So your daily roundups are much appreciated, as it's far easier to read one post in that format than all the articles- thanks.

Five picking up OOTB is interesting but they must think it has potential to become a hit show as do Ten. |

I'm surprised at the slightly subdued ratings last night. Very poor for Wired and slightly underwhelming for Spooks. That said, 5.5m is very respectable these days.
Last night, I think really emphasises ITV's problems with weeknights all year. BBC One has a very strong and reliable set of returning Drama's in the 9pm slot. Just off the top of my head, this year we've had Spooks, Silent Witness, Waking the Dead, New Tricks (plus repeats!), Ashes to Ashes, Criminal Justice, Bonekickers, Mistresses and others all airing 5-10 episode seasons pulling between 5-7ish million viewers. Added onto similarly reliable formats such as Have I Got News for You, The Apprentice and Who Do You Think You Are?,it puts the BBC on a very sound footing and ensures them solid ratings on at least 2 or 3 key 9pm slots a week. At the moment, ITV seems unable to match that quantity of weekday drama with those kind of solid numbers. ------- In America, terrific ratings for Dancing with the Stars on ABC last night - its growing an audience just like its British counterpart. Meanwhile, CBS stick out a line up of repeats and still beat the NBC schedule (including flagship drama Heroes) in every single slot thats got to be worrying.

Although I suppose BBC2, Ch 4 and m/c did a lot better than they usually do on Mondays at 9pm. |

Spooks debuted a bit lower than I expected, but the Prescott show did well on BBC2, and no doubt dented it.
Wired joins the long run of ITV flops. Shame really, as it just means ITV has to devote more of its schedule to ratings-chasing crap like X Factor and I'm a Celebrity to offset its ever-increasing portfolio of underperforming programmes. |

From reading the Australian overnights for a while now, am I right that the peak viewing time in Australia seems to be 7.30-9pm rather than the post-9pm in the UK & America?
