I wonder if that had anything to do with it being on BBC3 the previous evening!

Decent rating for Spooks considering the BBC3 showing on Monday got 0.8m viewers. British Style Genius seemed to be boosted from Autumnwatch and FIVE will be glad Spooks isn't airing on a Tuesday anymore, because it has seriously dented CSI:Miami.

This should have been done ages ago but once again the BBC let the whole matter escalate all the way to the Houses Of Parliament. The whole matter was dragged out needlessly.

The BBC just got over Crowngate and the phone-in scandal and people want to take it's licence fee away. The last thing they needed is to give their critics more ammunition. Foolish BBC!!

Brand and Ross suspended by BBC

I would have hoped ratings for these (particularly the latter) would be up since we're so close to the elections. A shame it's still doing quite poorly.

Any reason why C4 News ratings aren't quoted (yet More4 News is)?

Low for Neil Morrissey who had a lot of promotion but it seems more like a 9pm programme. Cops with Cameras is pretty average and Spooks did well to stay above 5m. CSI: Miami is down 0.6m on last week.

I think CSI Miami was affected by Spooks being on a Tuesday, I know that when CSI goes against a similar drama it ratings dip but then recovers the next week.

Apparations starts in two weeks and it will be interesting how it does.

The BBC bashers on a broadcasting forum are having a field day over the prank and I wonder if Channel 4 will drop Ponderland for this week although I have a feeling they will still air it as it would attract decent ratings as would Buzzcocks as Brand is Guest Captain for this week.

Sorry George but I dont agree with you. If Ross is sacked the BBC cannot dictate his future work.

I agree with Robbie - if he is sacked he will be on ITV in few a weeks.

A decent rating for Spooks. I was expecting it to be a little lower than Monday's episode because of the first look on BBC3.

Are BBC2 still airing Buzzcocks this week then or not?

Some scheduling news...

One New Tricks repeat returns to BBC1 on Tue 4/11, with 'My Family at War' on the Tuesday after.

'The Commander - Abduction' continues ITV1's Monday Night Thrillers season on 10/11 at 9pm. Taggart returns for one episode on Mon 3/11.

Hmm...well IAC starts the Monday after so I wonder where the rest of The Commander will go??

---

Also regarding official ratings the lastest release shows The XF results show has made a timeshift of 1.2 million viewers with it going up from 7.9m-9.13 million!! It just shows that ending it early really affects it.

The Commander is being stripped across 3 nights, Monday-Wednesday. Another Taggart airs that Friday, too, so there will be 4 nights of 9pm drama that week!

Huge XF timeshift!

Thanks-that's a great ITV schedule that week then and good scheduling for ITV to put the Commander on over 3 nights, instead of 3 seperate weeks. Taggart should also perform as well as WITB on Friday.

That improves its rating in the Top 40 Rating Programmes of 2008 by 0.08m, but does not improve its position.

A Touch of Frost improves to 8.52m and moves up to position #22.

For the second time in the last 16 weeks, all of Five's top 30 programmes have been above 1m (w/e 19/10/08).

Also I've noticed Neighbours ratings seem to be slowly going back up as we approach the Winter months & FIVE has managed all hours above 5% again...they're on a roll at the moment.

“FIVE has recommissioned three of its most successful factual and features series, it was announced today (FRI).

Extreme Fishing and Warship have both been commissioned for second series, while the fifth series of The Hotel Inspector will start filming in the winter, following hit runs earlier this year. The recommissions come at a time of strong ratings growth for the Channel. Five is the only terrestrial channel to have increased its audience in September compared to September 2007, and has recently enjoyed six consecutive weeks of year on year ratings growth.”

Just looked at the Sky EPG and they'll be showing Speed. That's a shame as I was holding out hope for a Fawlty Towers double bill!!

Lmao

I see Buzzcocks is airing the episode that should have aired next Thursday which seems the best situation to prevent angering too many viewers and drawing more complaints

And CH4 are standing by Brand by airing Ponderland as normal.

You just know that Brand and Ross will walk into another job straight away. It's in the BBC's best interest to suspend them rather than sack them.

Exactly. Just look at the reaction on Radio 1 - overwhelmingly in favour of Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand.

This is generational thing. BBC News interviewed people going into The Alan Titchmarch Show - furious at RB and JR, then read out comments from Newsbeat - furious at the BBC for suspending them.

They would get contracts on commercial radio/Channel 4 or ITV no problem.

This is definitely a generational thing. Titchmarsh's audience were all elderly then young people were saying it was just a laugh. But what young people need to realise is that it is people older than them in positions of power and are the decision makerd. So you don't want to annoy them, it also shows the lack of morals and decency between older people and younger people. I don't see what is so funny about leaving salacious telephone calls on anybody's answer machine. Some young people think it's a laugh while some older people think that it is a disgrace.

I thought it was a terrible thing to do but they shouldn't be sacked, suspension was the right thing to do but should have been done sooner.
