Its interesting that Stephen Frys show wasnt dented suggesting there is a new group of people just waiting to be entertained . Im with you on IAC, people being forced to eat invertebrates and "hopefully" having a break down is a bit like a modern day version of a show at the Coloseum. Yes I know they dont have to and get paid handsomely but its a tv trend which I dont care for.
Whether or not the launch show impetus can be sustained remains to be seen, the ratings will probably yo-yo a bit like last year though there is no football and CIN to contend with this year.

Isn't it ridiculous!

If someone had suggested a few weeks ago that Antiques Roadshow would hit 10 million and quadruple the ratings of ITV's big new family drama, we'd have laughed them off the thread. Still, its nice that the ratings can still surprise us (slightly obsessive) observers!

Really good night for BBC overall really. Strictly got a bit of a boost, maybe from the AR lead in (who would have thought it would work that way round!) or perhaps from people's mischevious enjoyment of John's continued survival. It also seems like theres enough of an audience in the 9pm slot for Stephen Fry to continue his strong form, despite the increased numbers on ITV.

ITV should be very satisfied with I'm a Celebrity - they're looking like they'll pick up a much needed boost over the next couple of weeks. On the other hand, very worrying signs for Heartbeat last night - its being battered by a dismal lead in and the combined crunch of Top Gear and Strictly. Maybe its a good job they keep cutting short the series if this trend continues.

Dissapointing rating for Strictly Come Dancing, 9.4m is fine but the share is awful. Britannia High did O.K considering it was up against The Antiques Roadshow, I have never watched it, but my grandson loves it!

I think ITV are right moving Heartbeat out of the firing line. Wait until the New Year and it should be boosted by a lack of Strictly Come Dancing. I can see Divas II getting around the same next week, but as it's not an established ITV drama, they won't be panicking so much about it.

Brilliant for Antiques Roadshow - beating everything other than The X factor is remarkable, though I'm still not sure where the audience has suddenly appeared from. Brittania High is a disaster - unfortunately IMO because I think it's a pretty good programme. I think a move is needed now in order to save it

I'm a Celebrity did well; I guess the highlights will settle around the 5m mark, though BBC's 9 o'clock opposition isn't exactly brilliant next week.

BBC'll be pleased by SCD - but was that the first week this year that The X Factor's results show beat SCD's?

Up against TG its fine TBH. 60% of the viewing audience watching BBC 1 and 2 in primetime, is something the BBC will be delighted about.

No, the first week won (8.1m vs 7.4m) according to Broadcast. Broadcast also count "judges houses" and "bootcamp" Sunday episodes as results episodes and they both beat their counterpart SCD results shows which aired later in the evening.

Although XF usually wins on share (all but one week) for the results, this is the first week since the start of the live shows that the audience has been larger.

But I think X Factor's real win over Strictly was finally getting rid of its "little problem" (Daniel) while Strictly's equivalent keeps on going strong!

I think if anything it'll work in their favour (ratings wise). If he does manage to get to the final, (which he has a real chance of doing) it'll catch peoples imagination more so than say your average Eoghan Vs Diana XF final.

Its not unheard of for the joke acts to get through on Strictly Chris Parker was undoubtedly the worst dancer to grace the show ever but made it through to the final in S1.

I'm still surprised how few people watch Top Gear

I think it's more important for XF to avoid having bad acts in the final. They can't have joke acts winning the show. Strictly might get away with it being an entertainment show whereas XF needs to keep some aspect of the "talent" format to it.

Fantastic night for BBC One and ITV1 with AR hitting 10m and IAC doing nearly 9m and Stephen Fry in America ending on 6m+ despite strong competition from ITV. Top Gear was dented but still fantastic figures for BBC Two, Five had a good night with their films while Channel 4 had a poor night with Wife Swap and AVP doing poorly. i'm surprised that WS is still going as it's a shadow of its former self and I think Channel 4 should end it sooner than later.

Survivors, I reckon it will do between 5-6m and Wallander will be around the same although I would think the BBC woud want it to get 6m+.

Fantastic night for BBC1 and IAC. I never would have thought a year ago Antiques Roadshow would become the top rated programme on BBC1 in a week and also beating every single soap!! It also seemed to boost SCD and BBC1 did well not to be dented by IAC at 9pm.

2m for Long Way Down repeat at 7pm is great for BBC2. It seems people are just avoding Britannia High like the plague, but on the positive side at least it maintained last weeks audience.

A great start for IAC despite tough competition and little promotion-it seems to work for a show to have little promotion now as it worked well with The X Factor and now IAC. ITV will be relieved it started on par with the last 2 years audience, unlike BB which didn't even attract the attention at the start. The spin off show on ITV2 did well to get 1m until 11.30pm aswell!

ITV don't really need to be worried about Heartbeat as we know with a solid lead in it can perform great-just a few weeks ago when the XF was a lead in it managed over 6m. All ITV need to do is bring Corrie back to Sundays and Heartbeat is sorted. It's much easier than the problem ITV have with Emmerdale.

EDIT: When was the last time Corrie was the SIXTH most watched show of the week and Emmerdale TENTH?!

NBC will be hoping to turn around their fortunes with a new show from 19 Entertainment (American Idol/ So You Think You Can Dance?) bosses Nigel Lythgoe and Simon Fuller due to air in the new year.

It's basically the Olympics for dancers.

http://www.c21media.net/news/detail....&article=45909

I don't expect it to be a hit at all, although it does sound like a BBC talent show that would fit in nicely alongside Strictly Dance Fever, Dance X, The One and Only, Last Choir Standing and next years oh so exciting "Your Country Needs You". And probably still get 6 million viewers and beat ITV!

NBC are in dire straits at the moment and I also don't think it will do well against more established dance shows like DWTS and SYTYCD.

Will the ''Antiques Roadshow'' be able to keep its audience?

Just seen the ratings. Quite surprised that I'm A Celebrity did so well- I thought the lack of Corrie lead-in would perhaps put it down to around 8m, but clearly not! It's a very reliable show for ITV, so it might go on for a few more years, even though it is getting a bit repetitive in my opinion.

Antiques Roadshow hit the 10m mark ! I would have never thought that would be possible just 3 months ago. Having no soap opposition plays a part in its rise, but still - 10m, that's huge! I do think, though, it will be down next week as some viewers tuned in for that "£1m reveal".

Strictly, Stephen Fry and Top Gear pulling in strong ratings as well, while ITV's Britannia High and Heartbeat disappoint once again. ITV should really move BH to another timeslot, instead of keeping it out of pride. It's rating awfully- Sunday 7pm was always going to be a mistake.

Great night for BBC1 and good start for IAC. Gladiators didn't seem to get much of a boost from VM customers. Fringe is in fact down on the episodes that were aired 3 and 4 weeks ago.

Saturday:

There's actually a thread in the IAC forum about George Takei taking a pee. To think we have three weeks of this kind of stuff!
I can see now why Stephens Fry's audience wasnt affected.

The difference between ITV this time and other years is that they didn't have anything popular enough to dent Children In Need. Believe me, if they did they would show it!”

I think ITV could have easily put a new ep of Midsomer or Frost into the 9pm slot if they wished. BBC's charitee shows now include CiN, Comic Relief, Sports Relief, SCD, the save the planet show Live Aid,Diana Aid,,,,,

One could think the BBC goes after these big charitee events for ratings

Brilliant for I'm A Celebrity! I really didn't expect that much of a high figure.. I was expecting it to be down on previous years (between 7 and 8 million) but nearly getting 9 million is fantastic. I bet ITV are chuffed, considering how average some of their shows have performed in the 9pm slot in recent weeks.

Poor for Britannia High in my opinion and I'm surprised by how AR is performing! It's beating what Eastenders gets! I'd never have thought it.

I was expecting Heartbeat to get better.. I think ITV should stop messing around with it so much as in the past year, I've seen it come on and off air.. in the 7pm slot, then in the 8pm slot! It needs some consistency in my opinion and maybe then the show would get the ratings it used to get. However, the competition of SCD and Top Gear could have brought it down, so maybe this is a factor.

Glad that IAC made a successful return...

...but OMG! What is so amazing about the Antiques Roadshow? Wow, some piece of cutlery was found, and it used by the Queen's servant. This is like so totally awesome!
