Seriously??

The Gamesmasters were one of the teams I liked the most, and I wanted them to do well. Frederic just seemed like a decent guy with a good array of knowledge. He impressed particularly in an early episode's missing vowel's round. I honestly couldn't see any reason to dislike him whatsoever... so I guess Only Connect IS that show where it's ok to hate contestants.

Even that Chessmasters captain isn't that bad. He's just a bit awkward, but I wouldn't say unlikeable in any way.

David Mitchell would make a great host, although I doubt a few days' of filming twice a year would be too much of an inconvenience even if you have a small child.

I don't think that's the point. It's not so much character assassination so much as an irritation in their behaviour on screen. I'm sure they all would help old ladies across the road, or people of any age and either sex for that matter, but their obvious need to 'perform' on screen grates sometimes.

As far as the Gamesmasters captain is concerned, it was his downright lack of manners that grated.

Semi final walls : rather tricky. But that guy getting the clue about the parts of a cow's digestion was crazy.

Excellent, the BBC team thrashed. They shouldn't be taking part in one of their own competitions.

Wow, possibly the greatest ever performance on Only Connect.

I liked the elves, but those guys were awesome - I hope they destroy the chessmen in the final

Bit disappointed that the Elves, probably knowing how unassailable the Orienteers' lead was, didn't just buzz in to give wrong answers so as to get a negative score, as a reference to QI.

The Elves don't work for the BBC - QI is made by an independent production company.

Was it just me - or did Victoria give the QI team four points for their wall answers - despite him saying 'oh, its horses' and not getting the actual category?

Didn't they suggest they all "won something" and then she confirmed they were all Derby winners?

I think she realised that they were so far behind that it didn't matter and she could afford to be lenient. I think if it had been closer she would have been stricter.

I don't think they got both points for that one. They did for getting the group but not for specifying the connection.

I don't think they got any of the groups, so the point must have been for the connection.

In a semi-final, I'd have expected them to need "Epsom Derby winners" rather than just "racehorses" ... but as has been pointed out, they were a long way behind!

That took obscure knowledge to a new level.

Although I'll bet there's some on here who'll object that they were given a point because he didn't say EXACTLY what was in the fourth tile.

I got the impression you don't need to say exactly what the connection is just the general theme, or am I wrong? I was mostly sad about her dress choice tbh.

I expect her gran is a bit miffed at the loss of one of her curtains........

A comprehensive win, especially with it being a semi-final.

I think the Elves were put off from the start by getting the music question.

...and their captain was one of the most irritating of all the irritating captains so far.

You are. You don't need to say what the connection is at all.

Disappointed about the Elves going out, but the Orienteers were something else in that episode! I think they will beat the Chessmen.

Let's hope so, two very likeable teams unlike last week's winner.

Why do people bang on about the teams and how unlikeable they are? In all the pre-publicity for this and previous series, VC has been at pains to point out that that OC is for quizzers who don't fit the normal bill for TV quiz shows; it's for people who are comfortable in cardigans, nerdy people etc.

Cardigans and nerdiness are not indicators of likeability!
