I know it's been said before, but the boardgamers do seem to get cut a lot more slack than any other team on their answers...

'Something to do with drinks ? Alcohol ?'

'That's right - They're all Spanish wines..'

etc.

That and the 'perfect' puzzle were the only ones I managed to get right at the first attempt.

That's exactly what I thought. It was the first time my Mum had seen them and she instantly said how annoying Jamie was.

I really didn't want them to win as we'll have to see them again and their frantic 'walling'.

Iesus Nazarus Rex Iudeorum, shortened to INRI are the letters nailed to the top of the Cross at the Crucifixion of Christ. (As an insult, not a compliment).

I got it after one clue, but then I am a Theology graduate (from way back)

I'm surprised so many people think this weeks was hard - I got more than I usually do (with the help of the team's deliberations).

Staples was one. They didn't see the Clive Staples Lewis clue, which I did, so I knew it was Staples, but only because one of the team had already said it.

The Missing Vowels was evil, though.

I never knew that Aldous Huxley died on the same day as JFK.

A good Connection would be to find another 3 examples of a famous person's death being overshadowed by the death of another famous person on the same day.

But I'm struggling, I thought Mother Teresa died on the same day as Lady Di, but no .

Sergei Prokofiev and Joseph Stalin, and Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson could be other examples.

We've mulled that before but it's quite tough to fit two full names into our tiny text boxes.

While I did find that a bit irritating and they definitely have been getting an easy ride, I was more overcome at the shock of VCM not knowing how to pronounce 'Rioja'. You'd think nice glass of red would be very much her thing.

She knows full well how to pronounce it. She sometimes feigns ignorance or says it two different ways to avoid 'tipping the gaff', as magicians would put it.

She said on Radio 4 Extra the other day that she did not drink or very little. Surprised me but perhaps just puts on an act about liking the boozs?

My heart sank somewhat when I saw that the Board Gamers were on. I've never quite recovered from their first attack of wall frenzy. I liked the Science Editors too....

As did CS Lewis, who was a clue in the "Staples" question and mentioned in the post immediately before yours. I'm still trying to work out if that was intentional or just a very weird coincidence.

I've always said that the fact she goes on so much about alcohol means she doesn't drink much.

Indeed, so maybe the OC Connection can be:

1 .[ anyone unfamous who died on 22/11/1963 ]
2. C.S. Lewis
3. Aldous Huxley
4. J.F. Kennedy

Can I have my fee in £20 notes please ?

It is why I have always liked the opening line from Sheryl Crows' 'Run Baby Run'

'She was born in November 1963 the day Aldous 'Huxley died'

It's ambiguous which ITV region out of Border and Tyne Tees is further north.

I don't see how. There's no way it could have gone Yorkshire -> Border -> Tyne Tees.

There's a whole variety of ITV regional maps https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=it...iw=911&bih=502

Not all show Border to the north of Tyne Tees, and plenty show overlap. Plus if you were to go by where they are primarily based Newcastle is further north than Carlisle. The Border/Tyne Tees divide is clearly much more east/west than north/south.

The only one named in the bible.

I liked the way Victoria said that it obviously can't be words with double vowels, but is words with one consonant instead. Sure, I can see that there are much fewer one consonant words (unless you start picking out all the obscure ones that seem to be made up just to fill a Scrabble dictionary), and why "double vowels" is obviously the wrong answer, but it feels like a interesting technicality to lose a point on.

Ofcom did try merging Tyne Tees and Border a few years ago, but decided it created too large a region that didn't serve the viewers well, so split it back up to how it used to be recently.
