I believe Mark Zuckerberg started this stupid fad. I thought to myself if he says it once more I'm not watching and he did

Yeah, that was annoying, but it wasn't a connection question, it was get the 4th clue right, and they correctly answered Sturgeon.

Nearly as bad is starting intros with 'Hi, I'm.... Some quizzes (such as The Chase) don't allow such things - straight in with "I'm...". But I agree, nothing beats 'So' in the cringe stakes.

They got the final name correct which is all that matters.

Nil points for the contestant who identified the maracana stadium as GCHQ

Quite a disguise that.

I think it's an American thing. Years back an American work colleague I worked with was charged with writing the e-mail newsletter and every sentence started with 'so...'

Coren's babble at the end was more annoying. She has a very annoying voice.

I've always thought that if I ever meet anyone who does it, rather than just hearing it on TV and radio, I will ask them why. However, a woman I met yesterday did it but since she was my daughter's new landlady, as my daughter had that day left home and was moving in to her house, I thought it might not be a good idea. I think my husband and daughter were on edge in case I said something, as they know it winds me up.

Thought the music question was very lax - the songs just had "Let it..." in the title? Thats it?
WTF was Vicki's babbling at the end about?

I thought that was one of the more coherent ones ... even though personally I'm not partial to wandering around Welsh industrial estates in the dark.

Was a bit think last night, mostly sat slumped in my chair staring at the screen with my mouth open. Even missed the obvious ones last night.

I just watched the episode last night, and that wasn't the connection.

The team did answer that they were the first to be openly gay in their sports, but VCM qualified it with some discussion about what being openly gay means, etc., and said that the connection was that they were all gay sportsmen. (03:40 onwards here - http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode...nnel-islanders)

Now, I suppose that is a connection, but I know I certainly wouldn't buzz in after two or three questions to state 'they're all gay' as, in this day and age, it seems too obvious. Like saying 'they're all bald' or 'they're all Muslim' (which I believe also came up recently).

Got the WW1 name changing thing after Alsatian came up.

I wonder if that's when Rubella became the preferred name rather than German Measles.

I didnt get the 'let it...' question. You can overthink things, i didnt spot that and recognized two of the songs. I thought it was winter as well.

Not yet another captain doing this, since this captain has already been on.

I got the World War 1 name changer from Betjeman and Alsatian, and I also got the "ends in ers" one after Rodders and Tuffers came up.

It's SO annoying! I don't recall hearing this for more than the last two or three years, and I wish it would disappear. Last night was particularly bad. Did we hear that the captain was a medical student? If so, let's hope he drops the habit before he drives patients into a frenzy of irritation.

So, I really, like, can't stand people who, like, use so, to start any, like sentence, you know!

My other gripe, in case you hadn't noticed, is the ridiculous over use of the word "like" where what they are talking about isn't like anything!! Why are English speakers so scared of a fraction of a second silence while they collect their thoughts, instead of filling it with pointless sounds, such as like or so, or you know.

I didn't, but now I have! Very funny! There wouldn't be many young people left in Britain if we followed that through.

But there was a woman captain a couple of weeks back who was doing it too, was probably referring to her.

Think they won so she'll be on again soon
