There is simply no way that, even when you can think of a possible link, there is time to rule out all other possibilities before the second clue appears. You could get lucky with a logical guess now and again but not as often as she claims , borne out by the rarity of a 5 pointer in the programme itself.
I'm still, despite asking again yesterday, for her response to my post at #5223 regarding her thought processes resulting in the ridiculous claim from last week that her one and only response to a picture of some Pirates, (could have been buccaneers of course but unlikely I'll give her that) was the letter A. In just 7 seconds. Ruling out every other possibility, (I listed a few that sprang to mind to me in the 7 seconds in the original post, you can all probably come up with several more. None may end up as a sequence but I couldn't rule them all out that quickly). Even if you are aware of the correct sequence no-one in their right mind would state that that was their final (and correct) answer after just that one picture clue in such a short space of time.
If I'm wrong - which I doubt - I will humbly apologise. But I guess there's only one way to prove it and that's for her to let us know when she's appearing on the next series.”
Here we go again.
I'm not "deluding myself". I state the answer out loud (and only one answer), let me let you into a secret - i do not watch the show on my own surrounded by cats! I watch it with other people, with the sound on mute so we cannot hear the teams thoughts!
You dont always have to rule out every possibility, but with the "ginger baker" clue i only knew of 1 possibility.
With the "pirates" clue i was purposefully looking out for a word answer where you take letters off a word, which form other words. It is a regular question style on only connect, as is the scrabble letter value connection.
Once you see the words within the word, its easy. I think i have a mug at home (its a quiz mug with lots of things written on it) with "you will always find "a rat" in separate" for common misspellings and words within words.
On the wall, always look for "homophones" etc, or as the teams actually refer to it, the "word question". "Albert Ross" anyone? You can almost guarantee there will be another homophone question on the wall in the next episode.
Scrabble, star trek, harry potter, calendars, GOT, The Beatles, Kings and queens, Presidents, states, prime ministers, islands, mountains, continents, rivers, birds, currencies, banks, olympics, tour de france, dr who are all regular question themes.
Teams do not regularly go for 5 points on the show, but they do get them - its not impossible. Yes i have stated many times that i purposefully "go for" 5 point answers as its the best way to get a big score in the first two rounds. I'm gaming the system.
2 five point answers score much better than 6 one point answers in the first rounds. If you think you know it, go for it.
I accept your apology.
I find it amazing that certain people here are willing to call a complete stranger a liar, or "deluded" repeatedly, and trolling me around the forum, for saying they got a question correct on a TV quiz!
This week i got 1 five point answer, as did others here, and yet we are now all liars! Ridiculous.
