2m still perfectly respectable for BBC Two, I'd have thought?

The NI wait is over, only another 24 hours for Cymru!

Blimey, Andy Crane has let himself go since the split with Ed the Duck.

I meant the comment that was something like 'Next week I'll be deliberately favouring one team over the other in an attempt to cause an outrage on social media'

That might not be word for word- but it was the gist of it.

As these things are recorded weeks (months?) in advance it could be a reference to her accepting an answer after the time was allegedly up. It was mentioned by one person on here who got really worked up about it- but it could just as easily have been people tweeting her, and accusing her of bias.

I can't imagine it's as specific as that, people will find fixes in any TV competition (Go look in the Big Brother forum at any point, ever- you'll find that's fixed for every housemate to win. All of them.) so it's probably a dig at people who get worked up about it.

Did anyone else think the towers question was very easy?

I notice there is now a repeat on Saturday which I don't think there has been one previously.

It's amazing that Scotland did not also find an excuse to show at a different time also! At least BBC 2 HD carries network BBC2 so you can see things they have messed about with.

.”

I wonder if some future team may now put themselves forward as "The Other Wazzocks"?

A straight 2 million in the ratings, down from the usual 2.3/2.4, people perhaps not spotting the changed timeslot or the effect of different regional timings and maybe the new Saturday repeat will mop up some more viewers

Thanks for the heads up about the repeat. I must admit last night was a bit of a blur for me

They have put Mastermind, University Challenge and Only Connect repeats back to back. Followed ten minutes later on BBC1 by Celebrity Mastermind and Celebrity Pointless.

Can anyone help me with this? The sports connecting question this week included "Ken Rosewall - Grand Slam" as the third clue. But Ken Rosewall never won a Wimbledon singles title, so never did the Grand Slam of Tennis. The final clue was "Jack Nicklaus - US Masters", so why didn't the third one say US Open, or French Open or Australian Open??

I found this confusing too as I assumed Grand Slam meant winning all four major events rather than just one.

The 4 major tournaments can bed called Majors or Grand Slam tournaments although confusingly winning all 4 in a year is also called a Grand Slam.

It seemed to be a simpler connection than normal, to me too.

I found the walls tricky this week, though, because of the amount of 'red-herrings' (as did the teams!)

Could get the categories/connections, but fitting them into the right order seemed harder than normal (?)

Edit: for example, I thought I saw at least seven words that came into the category of 'undergarments'.

So I ask again, why wasn't the fourth clue "Jack Nicklaus - Major"?

There were six - Chemise (a castle wall) and Corset (Dorset) were the red herrings. More than six possibilities in one group would come much later in the series, if at all

Ah, thanks for clarifying.

I'd mis-remembered,( as I often do! )

I did not know that Chemise was the name of part of a castle but I could see at the time that it quite likely was because many parts of castles have French names because of the Normans.

I was surprised with the team that won, they seem to waste a lot of time. They missed one chance because the captain missed pressing the button but they got near to do doing same other times. I wonder if they made up points on the missing vowels because that round is not dependent on the captain?

Because Jack Nicklaus isn't the oldest to win a Major. That honour goes to Julius Boros in the 1968 PGA. Ken Rosewall is the oldest player to win any of the Grand Slam tournaments.
