If we are calling Cote d'Ivoire - the Ivory Coast, then Suriname should actually be spelt Surinam (older English spelling rather than Dutch).
On Wonkypedia it says that the government have said they only want the French name 'Côte d'Ivoire' used though I suppose a true Only Connect pedant would say it is 'Cô' not 'Co'!

I'd love to have seen Victoria accepting cock and cock.

As an answer.

It's mostly the attach rate from UC.

they certainly wouldn't have got the pictures question from the first round!

Were the first two rounds slightly easier than usual? I managed to get several right and actually out-guessed the contestants on a couple. Perhaps they were easing the BBC2 newbie viewers in!
Should get harder as the series progresses. The BBC Four one caught me by surprise.

Yeah, its a good slot. At least the BBC are committing to an hour of cerebral telly a week.

The small balls questions... one of the easiest rounds I have ever seen.

That annoyed me, but then I guess they're just trying to ease the new viewers in a little.

I agree but it was ridiculously easy, apart from the eyeball one.

In the second round, I'm sure the quiz setters messed up the question.

You should be able to guess the missing 4th square in the connection, but it went...

Suriname .... Mexico...... Costa Rica. ..... .??

The connection is that the countries start with the last two letters of the previous answer.

So how on earth could you predict the last one started which a CA?

You needed clue three, so it was utterly impossible to get 5 or 3 points on this question.
I don't think they messed up the question, but it was impossible to get at one clue and almost impossible at 2 (sharing 2 letters could be coincidence, and there could be many other connections). So whatever team got that question was at a huge disadvantage.

But I got the 4TH: Tim Henman answer on the first clue, so that one must have been far too easy!

it was strange that she disallowed 'Cock and Cock'

you could argue that Cockerel's go 'Cock'.... especially as they had 'Baa' and 'Moo' when the animals don't really make those sounds, so it's all a matter of opinion. stupid round really.
Actually, you're correct - the Shorter OED defines it as "The crowing of a domestic cock" so it was in fact a correct answer.

It's good to have the odd superficially easy one. Some will be wasting time looking for some very subtle link and in an early evening show, it is good to have a question that children might get but not their parents.

Yes, clever adults will be looking for subtle links. Blowup and children will be shouting SQUASH BALL

After last series I was surprised to see the Brandy > Bra connection. Seemed like such an easy one and a little out of place.

I also noticed that it was ep1 of 27. Double the length of previous series.

I wish they would ditch the annoying Hor-ned Viper and Twisted Flax choices, pseudo elitist wank is all it is.

The use of A B C D or 1 2 3 4 has served quiz shows quite well for decades.

They used to have Greek letters. Maybe next they could have Assyrian scratches in clay tablets.

They're there specifically to wind up people who say things like 'pseudo elitist wank'.

With mentions of bra and cock, maybe they should introduce french letters.
