I recognised those two and I'd heard of Kate Mosse (even though I haven't read her books and had no idea what she looked like) and I think I have a Sophie Grigson cookery book somewhere but I wouldn't call her a "celeb". No idea who the other two were.

He was so annoying! He didn't even wait to give his team time to think.

Yes so annoying, he is really not a team player - I enjoyed the show though as I got far more connects than usual!!

I noticed that the Cornish curmudgeon Patrick Marber's team seemed to be protesting slightly that VCM virtually handed the phonetics answer to the the other team, with the actor Kevin Eldon in.

Yep, you've got the connection!, ( couldn't resist that one)

It is also the start of a full season of brainwashing (sorry encouraging) from the smug and wealthy to enable us peasants to give to others in need. The Tory voters then withdraw to congratulate each other on how much they have squeezed out of the unsuspecting poor before going out the next day to perpetuate their capitalist greed - perhaps a bit harsh but not totally inaccurate.

Kate Mosse seemed to do most of their work on her team. Some teams waste too much time on the first clue before getting more but her captain often seemed to go to the fourth clue as quickly as possible. I got the feeling she could have got in earlier on some if given a chance.

That 'atg' is a very argumentative man. He's just as bad in real life too.

I think the main problem they had was they weren't working as a team - just three individuals randomly doing their own thing.

Probably the best thing about last night's show is it highlighted how well the normal teams generally play the game.

I did too!

In fact, I was wondering if it was easier because it was 'a special'.

Yes it was definitely easier as are all these celebrity versions. It wasn't dumbed down as much as celebrity Mastermind or the celebrity Chase.

Paradoxically I found the final round slightly harder than usual though that's probably just me as my wife found it easier.

The contestants are extremely bright as this is a difficult show and they are only on it for the game itself. Compare this to say Tipping Point where the contestants show a very poor general knowledge let alone intelligence.

I get this from somebody who was once described as being a "disgrace to your county".

Come to think of it, that would be a good line for VCM's intro if you're ever on OC.

I like how Kevin Eldon didn't get the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory answer despite being in the 2005 movie.

Her grandfather was Sunderland Town Clerk in the 1930s.

Oh dear, really? I thought that was one of the easier wall clues, too! I did enjoy how he was introduced as an actor

Oddly, VCM was introduced as a "columnist and comedian" on The Agenda last night. But she did have a dig at Michelle Mone over immigration so well done for that. "I run a business and I'm telling you, I'm right", she said. Yeah, ok.

I read some of the thread last night before watching the episode.

I thought people referring to Steve Jones were meaning the Welsh TV presenter
Had he even seen the show before? He was probably as useless as his namesake would be.

Saying that though, overall his team did tend to need all the clues before they even had an inkling of a connection but if they had more time to discuss on earlier clues it could have been different.

I was surprised that Grigson hadn't heard of the Tomatoes are a Fruit quote.

Although VCM may have debunked it

Good for her, that Mone woman is dreadful. Complaining about immigrants while farming out her lingerie manufacturing to the Chinese.

I'm pretty sure she referred to herself as an "inventor" at one point too.

Odd thing is, whenever I hear the name Steve Jones, this is the face that always springs into my mind! The new one has just hijacked his name IMHO!
