Oh come on ITV, I call fix on that!

How did that second counter knock the jackpot one down?!

I don't understand why they do this. They very consistently get the counter to stand on it's edge making it more likely to ride, to do this they must be deliberately pressing the button at the time for this to happen. Why do they do this and then complain about being unlucky when it rides?
The counter stood on its edge loads of times today - even when the button had been pressed with perfect timing.
Those counters have minds of their own!

It was never easy in the fairground games. Very rarely did any pennies fall.

I really can't see how they can justify not allowing a contestant to keep counters which fall after the main counters have fallen.
Today one of the girls won three counters. She put the first counter in the machine and some counters dropped. While she was deciding which zone to go for next, a few more counters dropped but she was denied them.
Doesn't make sense to me.
It's mostly editing to keep the flow going that's responsible for this. You only get any dropped counters when your counter is 'in play'. In play starts from when you've pressed the button to drop the counter and then for three 'pushes' of the machine. Most times you'll only see one or two pushes on tv because they edit them out unless there are ambient drops. During the end game you're in play from the second you release the big counter to three pushes after your final normal counter. The three push thing isn't mentioned on the show but is to the contestants.

I didn't watch today but when I have most of them seem to drop the counter so that it hits when the platform is coming back towards the drop point, they need to drop it so that it makes contact a decent time before the platform turns to come back. It's almost as if they are instructed to try and get the counter to the bottom when the platform is most extended which is the wrong thing to do.

I understand this but they could have the rule that where a player has multiple pushes that once they've pressed the button they get the counters until they've finished their go. Obviously between contestants they need a maximum push rule.

The only problem with that would be that if a really unscrupulous player knew this they could really delay dropping their counters in the hope for ambient drops, To avoid that you'd have to introduce something like a timer after you'd answered your question from when you dropped the counter and that might add pressure for contestants which is something you really don't want. I know that sounds extreme but rules like this are put in place at the start or sometimes later because some game shows genuinely do get rare contestants that have worked out exploits and it's the other contestants that suffer because of it. One example was a quiz where the first contestant that got an answer right could interrupted all the questions after that before they were finished reading making them impossible to answer. They'd then stay in the lead for the entire show. You wouldn't expect anyone to be that nasty but it happened a few times before rule changes could be introduced. I can't remember what the show was but it was about 10 years ago.

The National Lottery programme on last weekend was like that. There were 3 contestants first against the clock to answer the question, if the first got it wrong it went to the second but then there was no transfer to the third. This means that you are better pressing the buzzer and saying don't know as it stops the third person answering. I turned over during that because it was so stupid.

Yes, the bottom row and any in the machine when the session started were, but the ones people were putting in and landing on top were free to move.

Always used to go straight to that machine as a child in the 40s/50s. My dad was a bit of a rogue when he wanted to be, and if we didn't get any out after 10 pennies, he somehow managed to get some to drop for us. He wouldn't let us see what he did.
