I don't watch this show, nothing against it, just doesn't appeal, but my wife likes it.
I happened to be reading a paper in the room one day this week when she was watching it, and I heard the presenter say, "Which star's real name was Bernard Schwartz?"
I said to her, "That's Tony Curtis"
The options were Tony Curtis, Burt Lancaster, and I can't recall the other one, but it was a well known name.
Now the contestant was quite young, and that's the only excuse he could have had, for he said, "I've never heard of any of them!"
He opted for Burt Lancaster, saying that Burt and Bernard were similar.

I used to watch it on plus 1 at 4pm, but as I get home from work around 3,30pm I now just watch the end round when they put the jackpot counter into the machine!

She was dreadful.

Ben drive me potty when he reads out a question as the end of time sounds. They answer correct and tells them they are out of time. Why finish the question and ask if they know the answer!!

I'd have thought it fairly obvious he finishes the question for the benefit of us the viewers as otherwise he would not finish the question and that would be really frustrating. You're not seriously suggesting it'd be better if he stopped the question half way through and no answer was given?

The silly bit is at the end when they haven't gambled with the three extra and he says "let's see whether you made the right decision". We will never know how they would have fared if they'd gone for it as it could be completely different from what then happens.

Rather than asking the contestant for the answer he should just say "and you're out of time but the answer is" and the answer.
However, I'd prefer it if Ben has finished asking the question still within the time they were allowed to complete their answer, and have it count (if correct of course).

Yes I am. It's totally pointless him finishing the question. The contestant gets it right and he says "sorry you are out of time"!!

I do agree with your second point tho.

Also, have they added background music to this now as I never noticed it before.

It's filling for time because they don't have enough content for a 60 minute show. They are all doing it these days.

But if he never finished the question we'd be left wondering what the question was and whether we'd know the answer. Maybe it'd be better if Mastermind style they were allowed to answer any question he'd started.

I was glad he won after being unlucky enough to have the jackpot counter drop on top of the lower shelf counters.

None of them were up to much really.

Name the Victorian engineer who built the Great Western Railway;

Contestant, I don't know, I'll just pick a name:- Answer given, Daniel Radcliffe. Needless to say he got knocked out by someone who was just as bad.

There was an embarrassing lack of general knowledge on display today. Again.

I think he should cut them short telling them they are out of time and then read the question and give the answer. Ben gives them the impression that they will get the point when he lets them answer,

Totally agree with the BIB as some questions are much longer then others.

I stopped watching Tipping Point some time back because of the poor calibre of the contestants. I thought it sad that they often revelled in their total ignorance/lack of general knowledge. I dipped back into today's and have to agree that it was shocking...the last two contestants were totally unaware of how stupid they looked with their flippant and ignorant replies to basic questions. They are either arrogant or thick skinned and hilariously even try to justify their wayward answers... when they should just say as people do on The Chase, "total guess"

He was helped considerably by his opponent in the final getting his questions wrong or passing them. He recovered from £800.00 behind to win by £50.00.

He took the trade and won. Well done him.

I didn't blame him for not gambling almost £4k to win £10k, specially as the jackpot counter was in an almost impossible position..
