I missed todays episode but this must have been close to the record of the most winnings in the first round! Did it involve a large drop and a x2 counter?

I don't think the x2 is a good idea but I think the biggest improvement would be to not let contestants carry the score forward into rounds 2 and 3 (they could take the total sum they've earned into the final round). This way they have to get through each round and so can't win just by a lucky drop in round 1 like today's winner.

Alright, you'd end up with people taking through less money, but it would make the game fairer. And you'd probably see more people take the trade in the final round, as supposed to taking the money (assuming that the Jackpot is in reach of winning in 3 counters). |

Fish scales!
![]() Hahaha ![]() That's how they get their money though; lots of people enter the competition because the question is so easy, and because of that they raise the £16k or even more that is required for the winner. |

Actually, the silly questions are to get round the law. They don't expect anyone to get it wrong, but because there is an "element of skill" involved, it's classed as a competition. Without that, it would be a lottery, which is not allowed.
I mean, you wouldn't weigh a person using kitchen scales (you weigh food with kitchen scales, and my kitchen scales only go up to 11lb in weight), and fish scales are for weighing, erm, fish!

Yep, got over £1000 in round 2. Might as well have sent the others home at that point.
Thanks, yes I find it very boring when someone is so far ahead that it's a waste of time the others playing

The prizes on this show are so rubbish I sometimes wonder why contestants seem to chase them
"You've won an afternoon wine tasting" "A day out at Warwick castle" Personally I'd like to see the prizes actually be of decent value; a new iPad pro, a new sofa, a week in Italy - or be replaced by counters of higher value e.g: Pink counter - £150 Blue counter - £200 Green counter - £300 When you see contestants ignoring significant overhang on one drop to chase such rubbish prizes I wonder why they bother. Would also like to see a choice of jackpots - Get jackpot counter down with 8 categories - £5,000 - Get it down using 6 questions (the standard) - £10,000 - Get it down using 4 questions - £15,000 |

If that's the case, nobody is going to go for the four question one, it's just too hard. Get a question wrong and you'll only have a maximum of nine counters, and you need an awful lot of luck to get the jackpot counter out with as few as that. And the eight question option probably wouldn't work either. For a start it would take longer to play out. And there wouldn't be much excitement if the player had won say, £2,500 in the main part of the game and was now playing for only £5,000. Plus with eight questions instead of six they're likely to build up an extra thousand or so in winnings anyway throughout the jackpot round, so would probably end up with between £3,000 and £3,500 by the end of it. So the "jackpot" wouldn't be worth much more than they already had, it wouldn't be that big a deal whether they won it or not. Certainly nobody would be taking the trade at the end and risking all their winnings to try and win an extra thousand or two. |

Has anyone noticed how dumbed down the questions have been lately?
We've had examples such as: "Which sea is referred to as the Med?" "During a football match, which person is referred to as the ref?" "What is the highest value number on a telephone keypad?" "According to the advertisement, what do washing machines live longer with?" |

"According to the advertisement, what do washing machines live longer with?" I didn't know the last one, I had to look it up. While the first three of your examples I would consider it almost impossible for a player not to know the answer to, for the washing machine one you do actually have to have seen the advert, Which I haven't, or if I have, it didn't register enough with me to remember it. |

1) People that talk too much and provide a running commentary during their questions and drops. 2) People that try and be "wacky" or a "character", and think they are being really funny. They generally just come over as annoying. 3) People that think they are superior to the other people they are playing against and make sly (and sometimes not so sly) digs at their opponents' general knowledge, often in the head to head round, for example something like: "I think I know the answer but I'll pass it to Jackie because there's no way she'll know it". |

"You've won an afternoon wine tasting" "A day out at Warwick castle" They always look really pleased to get them, and I don't recall ever seeing an inappropriate prize such as "you've won a wine tasting course" to be met with "sorry I'm a teetotal recovering alcoholic Ben" or a grannie getting an extreme sports day etc. |

Something I wonder about this show - are the "?" spot prizes set or are they tailored to the contestant's hobbies and interests a little bit?

"An extreme sports day experience! You know, like rock climbing and bungee jumping and that sort of thing." "That's not going to be much use to me is it, what with my hip. I'm 78, you know." "Well, you've won it anyway." "Can't I have something else? Like an afternoon tea or something? At a nice hotel?" "Well we'll see what we can do." "With scones." "Yes." "And proper jam, not that rubbish you get in the little cartons." "CUT!" |

Holli has to be a combination of the luckiest and the most stupid contestant I have ever seen on any game show.
