Being, ahem, between jobs at the moment, I've caught a few episodes of Tipping Point over the past week or two, and have a few questions.
First, what's the definition of a player being "in play" as it seems that this seems very much at Ben's discretion (or bad editing) and varies between a couple of movements of the top shelf, to half a dozen, as we wait to see if anything drops (or not)? Secondly, how do the counters themselves make that 'ker-ching' noise as they hit the shelf, or is it some sort of ITV 'fakery'? And lastly, as it seems counters regularly seem to end up on the floor as they "threw themselves out of the machine", hasn't anyone thought of sticking an extra bit of perspex along the bottom to stop them? 2. I didn't know that the counters made a kerching sound...... but then I only have about 40% hearing - if that! 3. I've always thought the same. If you have time on your hands, why not apply to go on the show?

Alun was brave and took the trade and deserved to win the jackpot.
I didn't think he would trade as throughout the show he had so many counters drop on the top shelf and get nothing over. His first counter drop in the trade also got nothing over the top shelf. I suspect he was panicking a bit then. |

I doubt the audition process for Tipping Point takes much notice of general knowledge, this is not Mastermind.

"What games console made by Microsoft has models called the 360 and 720?"
There's an Xbox 360 but there's no such thing as a 720, no idea where they got that from. The next gen after the 360 is the Xbox One. |

I know absolutely nothing about games consoles but a quick Google check reveals that the Xbox One was previously referred to as Xbox 720
http://www.denofgeek.com/games/xbox-...specs-revealed Don't know why they didn't just refer to it by the official, widely recognised name. |

Bill's chances of winning the jackpot today was completely ruined by bad timing and far too many riders. It's difficult to have any sympathy with them when they do that.

Why not say "I think it is Princess Anne" rather than saying he did not know who the other 2 were !! It's not clever to show ignorance ![]() Glad he didn't get the jackpot. |

Yes, bit of a shocker that he had no idea about two high profile royals..........Even more shocking that he won so much money with such bad timing.........Is it just me that loses interest when none of the players have a clue about timing ?
I will even turn the sound off when they become annoying. I should really not bother watching at all

Earlier on in the individual questions, Ben asked her the question "the Anglo-Dutch Wars refer to wars between England and which country ?".....and she answered "Denmark".
The icing...thick icing...on the cake would have been if she'd come out with the usual dense ones mantra "well... I'll make an educated guess" - which is usually anything but. Its funny....but when you think about it, theyre becoming the norm on these quiz shows. Cocky/deluded enough to go on though hey !!! |

Tipping Point
It was the pointless, constant irritating giggling and laughing all the time that got me. Every question, every drop, every bloody second.

That was a less than stellar performance in the jackpot round, to say the least.
Warwick the Starmaker was bad enough, but I think that was bettered by Judas Iscariot betraying Jesus for a hundred pieces of silver. When she said, "I had a number in my head before the answers came up", I thought she must know it's thirty. Then she said, "I think it's a hundred". Not to mention she was going for two point questions when the jackpot counter had hardly moved. The two point question on sport was probably one of the easiest sport questions I have ever seen. Who has the biggest stadium? Barcelona, one of the biggest, most famous clubs in the world, or one of those two powerhouses of the English game, Bradford or Bournemouth? Even somebody who knew almost nothing about sport would struggle to get that wrong. At least she managed to get that one right. And that was a two point question? I'd love to have known what the one point question was.
