What happens if both doubles drop at the same time? Does it become x4?

Can't see this happening to be honest. The double counters and the mystery prize counters always seem to be strategeically placed so that they would not fall together, there is always a first time though I suppose.

No, you don't.

I wish the finalist today would stop pretending she doesn't know the answers.
She definitely was playing up to it and making out she was guessing.
She defnitely knew the Tolkien question, for example.

Does anyone else think all the contestants should leave with the mone they've banked?

I think it's really unfair that their money zeroes once they're knocked out.

No. They have failed. End of story. However they do get to keep their free yoga lesson, or whatever other mystery prize they may have won.

It's the same with all "cash builder" quizzes.

Still I think it's unfair. If they were cash-building for a central kitty, like they do in the Chase, then fine. But in this case they've built up their own bank by answering questions etc.
It would also be more jeapordy for the finalist because they could plausibly go home with nothing whereas the first one knocked out could leave with £500 or something.

It only seems unfair as their "winnings" are represented as a cash value throughout. When really the counters everyone has taken out of the machine only gain a cash value right at the very end of the final round. So people who are eliminated earlier than this point are not losing any cash as they didn't win anything yet.

The system appears fairer if you consider what if the scores were recorded as "number of counters won" throughout. So you would have a much fairer (and less dramatic) representation with the Round 1 contestant being dropped with only 5 counters won etc.

The jackpot gamble would then be presented as "do you want to trade the 71 counters you have for three more to get the £10k jackpot, or sell them to me at £50 each for £3550?"

If you drop a ? with a x2 do you get two prizes?

Also, why is one of the ? counters in a slightly different font to the others?

Yes perhaps that would seem fairer. Only make it about a cash prize in the last round.

I guess they do it as money throughout so that the numerically challenged viewers don't get confused trying to work out calculations based on 1 counter = £50

That, and it is a greater drama to be playing for cash rather than points.

See also: The losing cash you've not won yet is very similar to the Apprentice candidates getting fired from a job they've not been hired for yet.

He's being polite to two people who don't seem to ever have attended school.

I can only assume that the cameras and the glare of the lights have their affect on some people.

I'm always more forgiving of daft answers when they are in the timed round. The added pressure can't help.

Ben doing an impression of Gary Coleman. Cringe. I bet he'll be accused of racism now on Twitter like the guys on Pointless last weekend.

Just out of curiosity, I looked up how much that Denbies wine tasting experience is. £14.

Yes, also that horribly insincere Thank You when she got knocked out.

Rubbish prizes (photography session, wine tasting) again.
