Ben's getting very touchy feely with Naomi.
And it looks as if she might win the £10k. . . . . . . She did!! And, wow, was that some bear hug!! |

You could genuinely create an algorithm that defined the extent of Ben's creepy hugging/borderline groping in tipping point.
The further up the scale of hotness/prettiness vs youth = an extended long hug, with the upper hottie/cuteness scales resulting in said girl being lifted off her feet. |

I've just turned this on.
One bloke had £50, the woman had £300, and the other bloke's just completed his second round, and he's got... £2,550. He must have got a hefty drop with the x2 counter. The game's effectively over. Whichever one of the other two gets through has no chance against the leader, and they all know it. Even Ben isn't bothering to pretend that there's any doubt who's going to win. They might as well not bother with the head to head. I'm surprised they still persist with the x2 counter. Presumably it's there to give somebody who's a good bit behind a chance to catch up. But It often ends up killing the game completely. |

It's not a great answer, but I don't think he really thought it had much chance of being right. The trouble is, if you can't think of the right answer, (Twelfth Night, which a lot of people probably won't know, or won't remember), you've basically just got to guess a Shakespeare play, and there are not really any others that sound remotely plausible as the answer. So any answer other than the right one is going to sound a bit silly.

Watching it again on +1, the bloke that won got fifteen counters including the x2, £1,500 scored in one go. The game was effectively over after ten minutes.
If this is a repeat I am surprised they showed it again as it was so one sided. It was obvious who was going to win almost as soon as it had started. |

The only thing I could think of was Epiphany which is obviously not a Shakespeare play. For some reason the obvious intended answer, Twelfth Night escaped me until you said it, but I don't think it's a Christian festival as such, is it?

Oddly enough, The Chase just had a "Which Shakespeare play" question, to which the answer was Macbeth. Which play does the character Hecate appear in, which I wouldn't have got. It's a long time since I've seen Macbeth. Turns out she appears with the three witches.
Edit: Ah, on checking, Greymalkin is a cat - the familiar of one of the witches. |

She is one of the three witches - the only one named apparently, though I thought Greymalkin was another - that is certainly mentioned during their get-together.
Edit: Ah, on checking, Greymalkin is a cat - the familiar of one of the witches. See the beginning of Act 3, Scene 5, the stage direction is :"Thunder. Enter the three witches meeting Hecate." I don't think any of the witches are named, although I could be wrong. |

You are right of course. (Hangs head in shame.) From the Shakespeare Online web site: Quote:
Hecate is the goddess of witchcraft, and one can view her as the ruler of the Three Witches. In Act 3, Scene 5, Hecate appears before the Witches and demands to know why she has been excluded from their meetings with Macbeth.
Not sure this is appropriate to the Tipping Point thread though

From the Shakespeare Online web site: Not sure this is appropriate to the Tipping Point thread though ![]() I regard any Shakespeare play question that I don't know the answer to as a tough question. ![]() Interestingly, reading up on it, the Hecate monologue is now considered by some scholars as possibly a later addition to Macbeth by somebody else, and some modern productions do not even include it, which might explain why I don't remember it. I didn't do Macbeth at school. I did Hamlet. |

Day 2: Anne Hegarty/Mark Labbett/Paul Sinha David Haye, who I see is also on one of them, appeared on a celebrity edition of The Chase. He made the Final Chase with Laila Morse (Mo from Eastenders). They scored seven steps, so taking off their two point head start, they answered five questions right between them in two minutes. It's on YouTube if anyone's interested. |

I went to a taping of the new series of Lucky Stars at Fountain Studios on Wednesday. The celebrities were: Jimmy Carr who managed to make the games terminology sound filthy. Charlotte Crosby from Geordie Shore and a boxer David Hayes.
Not sure if they'll use it but my favourite line came from Ben while talking to Jimmy about Charlotte's previous drop: Ben: Charlotte's top shelf is looking extraordinary there (audience laughs then applauses him) Jimmy: Now, Ben this is a family tea time programme! |

Nobody answered my question why trios when the usual Tipping Point starts with 4 people. Do they cut out round 1 for the celebrity version (never seen it)?
Edit: never mind, I looked up the Wikipedia entry which explains the different format. |

I was at the Monday morning recording of Tipping Point Lucky Stars. The celebrities were Linda Robson, Johnny Vegas & Ann Widdecombe.
