Do the losing contestants get to keep the money they earned or do they leave empty handed?

I don't get why it is not points and then the final it should turn into pounds.

Why give them money then take it away?

But .. this is Tipping Points where they seem to make up the rules as they go along

Wow! is anyone watching this? I have never seen 2 people who know so little general knowledge, don't know the Foo fighters, have no idea about anything in London, never heard of Charlton Heston, think that Johnny Depp is in his 70s!,lol

Apparently they need to have everything geared towards their age and have no idea about anything that happened before they came into the world.
Aye, chuck in "aquiline" and tarmac and you you have two completely dozy lumps

Lack.of general knowledge? On pointless yesterday Phil Taylor, (the power) proffered Isaac Newton as a 1921 Nobel prize winner.

're tipping point, yesterday's winner just couldn't go wrong. But her last 6 questions were quite hard. She did well to get 3 right.

Yesterday the answer to a Q was 'European Union' and Ben pointed out he 'could accept' the answer, as given, of: "EU"

Why did that need pointing out?

Also hate his insistence of reading the entire question during the quick-fire round again if the contestant interrupted all but the last syllable of the question when he originally asked.

Q: "In 2013, Sir Alex Ferguson retired as manager of which Premier League football (INTERRUPTED)"

A: Manchester United

....then at the end he'll repeat the entire question for the purposes of adding the word 'Club' onto the end.

Not one of the contestants today have dropped the counters at the optimum time to get them flat on the top shelf. A few fell flat despite a late release.

You would think that it's a requirement of going on the show that you have never watched the programme before playing it. Anybody with half a brain should be able to see that if you drop the counter late it stands up on the top shelf which leads to riders.

I wonder if Ben is looking forward to a cuddle from Paul at the end?

The worst contestant I have ever seen in the final. Poor general knowledge, coupled with epically bad drop timing. The jackpot counter was riding, and she had no chance from there, especially given her timing issues.

Ben almost got lost in that bear hug when our contestant actually got a correct answer!

Still, £1600 isn't bad for an afternoon's work.

That has to be one of the worst finales! Only £1,600 she didn't even get close the £2,600 average that most people get if they don't win the jackpot.

The latest batch of contestants don't seem to know how to 'drop' the counters han't everyone played the 1p and 2p games in arcades when they where growing up?

These shows are still repeats so I imagine it was all new to the first lot of contestants regarding timing etc.

The contestants are shown in the rehearsals when to press the button to create the maximum talking points for Ben. As has been alluded to previously, the coin is dropped into the machine by a flunky at the back, on the nod of a producer, So, even if the contestants do press the button at the right time, there is also the "nod-eyeball-brain-hand" delay which seems to screw up most contestants' drops. You can see when someone "in the know" twigs this, as their drops are usually perfect i.e coins hitting the top deck whilst moving toward the contestant. We must remember that a lot of production goes into these shows, the producer presumably told the £1600 woman yesterday to be "as annoying as possiible".

That's how the word "coxswain" is pronounced. I doubt whether she spelled it that way though!!

I always thought that 'coxen' is how it's pronounced.

Now that Alice is out, Ben will have to give Scott a big hug at the end of today's game

Contestant Phil committed suicide in the first round today. He answered the questions and passed to his opponents who scored highly. He was eliminated with just £100.

Today's finalist, Holli, has hardly answered a question correctly and she's still made the final with round mainly to the other finalist not answering many right too.

Poor general knowledge from all contestants today except for Phil who threw it away..

Then how do you justify your post #2241? Since coxswain is pronounced cox'n (and only that way) as other have said. If you still have any doubt, check out Wikipedia.

It may often be abbreviated to cox (e.g. in the boat race), but I think coxswain is used in the Navy.

BIB. Not sure how else I can explain that as it quite easy to understand.

I don't do Wiki .. I ask the people who know the sport.
