Drop zone 4 was "too heavy"?
It doesn't matter which drop zone the jackpot counter goes in, it's still got to be pushed the same distance!
With 4 she'd have dropped loads of counters as well as possibly the mystery prize and the X2?!?!?

Yep, bizarre logic.

She's also timing most of the drops badly, which is why she's getting so many riders and rollers.

It's funny when Ben says at the end, and the jackpot counter's hardly moved, "As you know, at this stage, I would usually offer the trade".

Then he says, "I know what you're going to say, but I still have to ask you, do you want to take the trade, or take the money?"

So he doesn't "usually" offer the trade. He always offers it, every time. He has to, by the rules of the game, even if the jackpot counter's nowhere near the edge and he knows what the answer will be.

My thoughts exactly when she said that. Absolutely bizarre comment to make.

Confirmation there that they are forced to say something in the head to head, even if they've no idea of the answer.

(Ben reads out question.)
Bloke: "I don't know, I'm going to pass it over."
Woman: "I've no idea."
Ben: "I need an answer, I'm afraid."

Why does he need an answer? She's said she doesn't know it. Could Ben not just accept that? The bloke's going to get the counter. Why are they forced into saying something when they've no idea, which often just makes them look silly?

It's a silly rule.

I think if it were me and I genuinely had no idea but was forced to say something I'd say, "Trotsky", in a nod to the infamous University Challenge episode. I don't know how many people watching would get the reference though.

Most days I come home from work and catch the end of this when I'm waiting for The Chase to start, and from what I've seen when they don't win it outright, the majority of situations are hopeless and he says that line.
So at that stage rather than 'usually offer the trade', what he actually usually does is say that he would usually offer the trade.
When he actually usually doesn't.

Usually seems a stupid word now.

I've always felt Ben is a bit of a sloppy presenter though. He's often lazy with his choice of words, even his pronunciation at times. Some words trail off too quietly and merge with the next word.

Question: 'Which Welsh island was one of the settings for Gavin & Stacy?'
Answer: Barry Island.

Barry Island isn't actually an 'island', it's a resort town.

Despite some poor timing, I'm glad he won. He seemed like a nice guy.

Barry Island isn't the name of the whole town, though. The town is just called Barry. The island bit at the bottom is Barry Island.

I've been to Barry, and even I didn't know the island shaped bit wasn't actually an island. I just assumed it was. (In fact Wiki says it was an island until 1880.)

The question could have been worded better, though.

I find that too. I keep expecting someone to ask him to repeat the question.

It really annoys me when Ben insists on finishing the questions in round 2 for those watching. We don't care! Bradley doesn't do this in the Cash Builder rounds on The Chase!

Today's finalist, Anthony, must have been the worst finalist we've had for a while with timing his counter dropping. I lost count of the number of riders he got. Even so he went home with £3,900.

'Each of the three obelisks known as 'Cleopatra's Needle' were originally from which ancient state?'

>tumbleweeds< time runs out.

There were three of them available to answer this. THREE.

Yes. You'd have thought that 'Cleopatra' was a pretty good clue.

..... and the finalist didn't seem to know much about anything.
The jackpot counter didn't leave the top shelf and he went home with just over £2k.

Yes, that was a bit odd.

Maybe they all thought it was a trick question or something.

Having said that it's the first round, so it doesn't matter much, since they all get three counters to put in, and you can't get more than this by answering more questions right (except for the penalty pot). It's a mistake to buzz in unless you're sure of the answer, you're just risking a counter for almost no gain.

The bloke that won today made a howler like this in the first round. He only had one counter left, had no money in his bank, and buzzed in on the question, "Which London based reality TV series..." and said TOWIE. It was Made in Chelsea. TOWIE is based in Essex. That left him with no counters left and no money, so he had to get the penalty pot question right to stay in (which he did).

Are you allowed to shout at the other contestants?

Seriously that really irks me watching as a viewer when other contestants go ooh or start shouting when it isnt even their go.

At the risk of embarrassment, what is the answer here? As far as I knew they were separately built rather than ever being a part of any other structure and researching only seems to confirm this belief?
