As for the episode last night, I agree that it was an improvement on last week's bizarre Wizard of Oz themed episode. There was just about the right balance between light and dark and for once, I could tolerate Connie. Maybe I'm a Scrooge but I did love the moment when she threw the small Christmas tree in the bin, reminding the staff that the decorations were an infection risk. It jars that they have someone like Dylan saying the ED is "understaffed" yet what you see for most of the episode is Elle, the clinical lead, whose main concern seems to be putting up decorations, along with other medics and admin staff doing the same.
Once again, Dylan / William Beck steals the episode. The writing for him is superb - yet so sloppy elsewhere. "Do you want a biscuit for a procedure we practised last week?" Love it, love it, love it. I'm not sure where this partnership between him and Seb is going, especially after the latter came on to him (genuinely funny moment when Dylan was taken aback) but it's great to watch.”
Yes, the news about Bernard Gallagher broke mid week but very quietly. Only a brief death notice rather than full obituary in the print copy of The Guardian. I didn't notice an acknowledgement or dedication on screen but I don't think they've ever had one for a former cast member dying.
I find Casualty so hard to watch now. I have to force myself to sit through it.
I did agree with Connie. Anybody could come into A&E at death's door, or with a relative at death's door any moment and aside from the very real infection risk, they emotionally probabky wouldn't want the debateabke happiness if Christmas shoved down their throat.
