Flaming nora what is it with Casualty characters and their completely judgemental attitudes?!

They've just heard a nasty rumour about Dylan, a guy they've known and worked with for years and instead of hearing Dylan's side of the story (or hell even take a neutral response like Elle) what do they do? They just take Seb's word without question whilst standing there judgingly towards Dylan.

And no that photo "isn't proof". Instead of using their "oh so intelligent" medical brains by thinking "but they could be hugging about anything, we need more evidence then that" they just went straight for "ZOMGZ they are huggings! Therefore Dylan has truly 100% kissied him!"

Max of course to his credit saw right through Seb's bullshit and like I said earlier Elle took the neutral approach (which to be fair I'm not going to have a go at her for) but the others make me want to punch my TV in frustration.

Louise in particular has got to be the most absolute worst, judgmental culprit of all! Every week we could always rely on Louise staring and commenting towards others in judgement as if she can do no wrong. Seriously God-forbid you make a mistake in the ever divine Louise's presence! Not kidding when I say every week I keep hoping Louise arrogantly makes a mistake so bad the other characters judge her for months, see how she likes it and it'll serve her right but doubt that's ever going to happen sadly.

My God I really need to stop being so ranty!

Saturday 14th January Spoilers

Spoiler
A scuffle at an illegal rave leads an over-enthusiastic sergeant causing serious head injuries to a 19-year-old man and later planting drugs in his belongings to corroborate his claim that he had been assaulted twice by his quarry.

Jacob is dubious about the sergeant's story and takes a police constable to one side in an attempt to persuade her not be an accomplice to her superior's crooked ways.

Elle's career is on the line as Connie goes on the warpath.

David struggles to connect with his son.

Cal suspects Alicia's infidelity.

Mangling two names together to form one doesn't really fit the definition of portmanteau.

Words like smog, or brunch or motel are good examples of a portmanteau, Eticia isn't.

Must admit I haven't watched Casualty since the 30th anniversary episode and scrolling through the last three episodes quickly I don't feel like I've missed much.

Am guessing Dylan trashing his barge at the end of the last episode... he's going to pin it on Seb and they won't believe him?

I think he was just taking his anger out on the boat ... I don't think it will come up again.

It seems to fit it exactly: Smog=smoke and fog, Eticia=Ethan and Alicia.

But a portmanteau is more than just combing two words together to make one. It's a combining of the meanings too so it just doesn't work with names. Eticia means nothing at all.

It all started with Brangelina, did it not??

Or was it Bennifer??

Anyway, it's alright when the names go together well but when they are mismatched it's annoying. Eticia is annoying imo. But then so are the "couple".

Agree with this. Can't believe anyone can criticise Ethan when Cal is such a completely selfish @rsehole. Finally Ethan acts on his feelings. Bet Cal still "wins" though. Probably Alicia will tell Ethan she's made a mistake and everyone will have a go at Ethan for going with his brother's girlfriend. Of course he won't tell anyone about the proposal that was stolen from him.

I can't believe that people think that Ethan's behaviour is acceptable. Two wrongs don't make a right. I'm not denying that Cal has been a prick to Ethan a good few times, but Ethan has still done something bad. Sleeping with your sibling's partner is one of the worse things that you can do. I don't care if Ethan liked Alicia first because he had plenty of opportunities to do something about it.

But he did really like her first, a lot, didn't he? He's given in to his brother so many times and covered up for him. Don't you think it's feasible that the stealing of the proposal was just the final straw that made him snap? I can totally relate to why he suddenly thought enough is enough. I cheered when they kissed at last.

I know he liked her a lot but not enough to just go for it before she went out Cal. When he kissed Alicia, he was more motivated by anger than how much he liked her. Although it wasn't even a snap decision because some time had passed before he went round to Cal's.

I can totally understand him being pissed off with Cal. However why didn't he go to Elle and show her that he originally wrote the proposal.

I don't see how anyone can support Alicia and Ethan. They are cheating. There's no excuse for their bad behaviour.

Not really , we would use brunch, smog (examples given in another post) etc in daily language we wouldn't find ourselves referring to a couple by a "mangled" fanfic name as opposed to using their real names any more.

I mean if you were having lunch with a couple you know David and Alison you would say I am having lunch with David and Alison you wouldn't say I am having lunch with Dalison.

This looks crap. I can say Casualty is in a bad place at the moment, and I reckon that loyal 3.5m who watch it week in and week out will start finding other things soon. Alicia - have her blown up, sent to another hospital - just go.

Don't Ethan and Cal live together in Ethan's flat? So technically Ethan just went home but I'm not sure why Alicia was there if Cal had gone to London for the night. As far as I can tell she still officially lives with Max and Jez doesn't she? Where does Robyn live these days?

I believe Ethan let Cal stay for a bit out of kindness after that woman fleeced him even though he stole from him and Cal being Cal he just carried on taking advantage of Ethan's good nature and stayed there. Ethan even said 'It's my flat!' In the last episode when Cal was moaning about three being a crowd.

My thoughts exactly- I can see Alicia choosing Cal because he needs her more.

I thought Ethan went to Alicia's shared house as the room looked more like that and there were stairs there ... Ethan's flat has always looked a bit more modern. Plus I'm
pretty sure he knocked on the door which he wouldn't do if it was his flat and Alicia shouted as she ran to open the door. So I think he went to confront Cal at Alicia's only to be told he had gone to London - which was also odd as he supposedly left his 'girlfriend' on NYE and after a long shift to go on a two and a half hour journey to London ....

It's interesting how we all see things differently. I don't think Ethan was more motivated by anger when he kissed Alicia. Remember he had already told her he loved her in the last episode, so I just think he felt that Cal had betrayed him once too often and so he saw no reason why he should hold back his feelings any longer.

Out of interest, do you like the character of Cal? If you do, maybe you identify with him more and see the cheating as being the main factor. Personally I don't like the character at all. He's selfish and a complete "player" or "F**k boy" as my daughter would call him. I never liked that kind of boy when I was younger and would always have gone for the more "geeky", shy guy, like Ethan. For that reason I guess I am on his side.
