generic is what I call her ..very annoying with no part to play
Oh come now, you're much too harsh. I'm pretty sure she was about to try and hang a bag of fluids upside down before catching herself on. She could find her niche as Nurse Who Appears Unfamiliar With Equipment Thus Painfully Reminding Us She Is Jobbing Actress. That's an important part.

I'm pleased Lily is sticking around. I don't watch Holby City but I am intrigued by Connie Beauchamp's arrival next week and how well the character will "fit in" to the dynamics of the show.

The patient storylines were OK tonight; interesting to see some topicality in the fracking storyline but, typically, this evolved into "soft soap" (Lily's words) and the customary soap revelation soon enough.

Watching Robyn, Max and Lofty / Ben is like watching an unfunny flatshare sitcom.

Has Iain left for good? I did quite like that scene between him and Big Mac. I wish they would give Big Mac serious material to work with more regularly.

This episode was the first time I'd watched Casualty for a few weeks. When I saw the Ethan/Caleb situation exactly the same as it was a few weeks ago, I was a bit disappointed. There are only so many times you can do the "please leave/stay out of my way routine," so I was expecting that this was going to be an episode filled with that. It was a relief that they finally started to put that to bed at the end of the episode and hopefully they move on from it now and explore some other aspect of their relationship/focus on treating the patients.

I'm glad Lily isn't leaving. She's definitely one of the better characters in the show at the moment, although that isn't really saying much given the current crop. It was nice seeing some vulnerability from her in the meeting.

Rita is ok, she can be a bit interfering, but she isn't unprofessional like Robin, who I can't warm too at all.

I'm not sure if there was a bit too much going on in this episode. The Ian/Big Mac situation seemed a bit rushed and I think the other patients could have been explored a bit more. They should have cut that Lofty/Max/Robin thing which just seemed pointless to me.

I'm looking forward to Connie returning next week. I hope they explain why a CT consultant has suddenly decided to go into Emergency Medicine. I can't see Connie being prepared to be under Zoe for long. The show needs a lift imo and she should provide that. It should also give us more screen time for Zoe, who I think has been underused for too long.

Are they going to revisit the Dixie and Rita kiss at some point?

So the protestor girl gives her boyfriend a fake name but uses her real one? I have to wonder what on earth Ethan was playing at here. It seemed to me he had three acceptable options: 1)Stick with patient confidentiality even though it meant the driver would be blamed for the accident, 2)Convince the patients to tell the truth to the police and 3)Break confidentiality and tell the police what really happened. Instead, he went for 4)Blow the lid on an undercover police operation. End result: The real villain of the piece gets away with it because some lovesick idiot who's gone native takes a dive for her. Um, yay? (Or are we meant to accept her pathetic "If I put spikes on the road, it's not my fault if someone drives over them" argument and think because she's pregnant she should be protected from the consequences of her actions?)

Well, I was expecting a pat ending to the Ash/Lily conflict and in a way that's what we got, although it wasn't too bad and I reluctantly accept Ash probably deserved the ticking off he got. Bit of an awkward juxtaposition to have Guy chairing the meeting a few days after he's been on the other side of the table in Holby City. Of course, that isn't the ending and it seems Lily's sticking around for no good reason. Can't help thinking Ash's decision had less to do with deciding he's misjudged her, again, and more to do with him not wanting to admit he failed to turn her into the doctor he thinks she can be.

Rita...I can't fault anything she did here but as ever her attitude makes it impossible for me to warm to her. (Frankly, I'd take Robyn over her any day.) Nice to get some more information about what happened with that marriage she mentioned a few months back.

Maybe I haven't been paying attention but I can't say I'd pegged Iain as someone who keeps running into dangerous situations, felt like something they made up on the spot to write him out. Lofty is apparently now permanent judging by the uniform. Can't get worked up about Cal and Ethan's reconciliation since with the inconsistent characterisation on this show they'll probably be back at each other's throats by next week. I notice Zoe said she was hoping to get a new consultant: Could the theories about Connie being foisted on the department against her wishes to lick them into shape be incorrect?

Paul Evans. What else has he been in? Very familiar. Want to say hollyoaks...
I was wondering this also. Strangely enough I didn't find any credits with the characters name - do they not show guest actors name in the credits any longer ?

***edit***

I'm watching on my Sky planner & have now realized that his name is Rob not Paul - I had a feeling it would be a false name that would come out as the program went on.

I think I would like too see some continuation as it has just seemed to have been forgotten about , this is what frustrates me about Rita she has no real story and had no development of her character .

I really hate it when the writers do this

Not sure about the credits but the actor is Matt Kennard. I got that when I googled Archie Doctors when someone here said he'd been in that.

Yeah thanks I just edited my original post. I was looking through the credits for Paul as I'm watching on sky planner & it's just been revealed that his name is Rob - which I expected that he'd given a false name (but only after I posted).

Ethan is such a loser. Caleb walks all over him - because he let's him.

The comment he made to the undercover police fella Rob "so what does that make you then ? a spy ?"

No you dumb ass he's undercover !

So now Dr Boring (Ethan) joins Robyn (fast food outlets) as a fellow confidentiality breaker. It must be so frustrating and annoying for any medical professionals watching.

I wonder if they suffer from any kind of backlash from such inaccurate misrepresented portrayal's.

I'm not sure if you realise this if you don't watch Holby City, but Guy Self (the character who was interviewing LIly and Ash) is a regular cast member in it. He's played by John Michie.

I liked the part when Ethan's patient was clearly in pain and shock and Zoe called him and his brother out of the room to talk to them leaving the patient on his own.....

I was aware of that but my point about Connie / Amanda Mealing fitting in with the dynamics of Casualty, in my view, don't really apply to him as a guest character. I know Nick Jordan / Michael French slotted in well, so I hope the transition for Connie will be as smooth.

Wasn't she rebuking them (like the naughty children they are - this is how infantile the storylines have become) for arguing in front of a patient?

Still, I agree with you in principle - she could have chosen a better time given that the patient was in difficulty.

I know it has been said before on here many times but it struck me again last night: nobody dies on Casualty any more. The wonders of Holby NHS where new consultants, doctors and nurses are recruited day in, day out. Crisis? What crisis?

The nobody dying thing has been bugging me for a while, I mentioned it to Oliver Kent after last week's episode and he replied with: "Oh be careful what you wish for..."

Well, w/o the need to split hairs here, if a police officer is working undercover, they're in effect attempting to spy on whoever they have infiltrated. Or else what would be the point of working undercover? Ethan wasn't incorrect in his surmisation. It was perhaps just a clumsy way of putting it.

I'm surprised by his reply. I don't think having patients not dying will sit well with Connie as Clinical Lead anyway. She's a character who will not fit with or suit a lovely, nice, comfortable Disneyseque A&E department.

I think his reply is basically implying that a regular character will die soon. (And if so, it's about flaming time as there hasn't been any regular deaths since Polly's in 2011, Series 25)

The woman who plays Rita is an appalling actress playing a rubbish part, why is she in it?
