I don't understand how the mugger died? And whatever is going on in Gemma's head, surely even she knows it's only a matter of time before Mark returns?

Gemma must want to get caught out. She was bound to be found out bullying Dani, cheating on Mark and trying to start the arson fire as well.

I hope in the end it turns out that Gemma is suffering from something like Histrionic Personality Disorder, and isn't just portrayed as a 'nutter', which would be as irresponsible as it would be tedious.

Does Gemma definitely know it's not Mark or was she so horrified at the sight of the dead body that she didn't look properly and just assumed it was him? I've watched the clip 3 times and I'm still not sure.
Is it a criminal offence to wrongly officially identify a body? |

Surely Gemma gets found out when Liam comes back and recognises the necklace she is wearing as the one he was going to give his Mother. It`s such a beautiful necklace.
I really like Liam and hope he will become a regular character. |

Quite sad, really.

I hope that doctor friend of Anitas will help Gemma out like he helped Iolo. Although with Gemma the way she is, I doubt if she wants any help. She may have to be sectioned under the mental health act before she receives help. |

Everything Gemma has done since is one large elaborate lie. She isn't lying to get away with something she wants to get caught. She wants attention that's what this is. She wants to create a big scene where she is at the center and everyone is looking at her. I bet next week will all be about the elaborate lengths Gemma goes to keep this lie going. |

Must admit, I was slightly disappointed by the 40th anniversary celebration programme last night. I was expecting some kind of behind-the-scenes doco, interviews with cast past and present, that sort of thing. But apart from a few dodgy top tens presented by a patronising pillock (couldn't they have got some prolific ex-cast member or something?), it was by-and-large just four (albeit very good) episodes from different eras. Ah well.
I think what surprised me is that PYC has always been so well written and characterised. Some dodgy actors, stories and continuity of course, but always well written. |

It seems to me that their one over riding concern is money. Everything is about money including storylines which are by and large just mild retreads of what they've done before. It is some ways unfortunate that PYC could never be justified for funding on ratings alone, the Welsh audience is small. It gets funded as a cultural institution by the BBC. I think the writers are more concerned with placating TPTB than the audience so they don't lose funding.
I don't know what else would explain the sudden change in writing, they were doing hard hitting storylines through August of last year with Moc and after that things seemed to change a lot. |

Partly down to ratings? They have collapsed over the last couple of years, dipping from around 90'000 per episode to now just 40'000. I don't think the show has deteriorated THAT much, so what has gone wrong?
![]() I think what has changed is the political climate and the source of funding. Even at all time ratings high PYC is not going to rival EE in viewers. So it really can't justified on a commercial basis. I think some would be happy to cut it all together. I think there is a funding problem, but I also think there is an intentional turn to writing more mild scripts so as not to offend anyone. EE can get all those complaints to Ofcom and BBC will stand by it, but I don't think that's the same for PYC. I think PYC in the current political climate is being funded more as an educational soap that promotes Welsh language learning rather an entertaining soap that does hard hitting storylines. |

So.... we've just finished watching the omnibus - watched on Clic as there are no subtitles on BBC iPlayer this week, for some reason, and my parents rely on it as they don't speak Welsh and, well.... I'm confused. Mark's not dead, obviously, and they identified the body at first by his bag, which was Mark's, and now that Gemma's lied, they're led to believe Mark IS dead, but wouldn't they do further checks, dental-wise? I'm guessing Mark will arrive home, and a week or so would have passed, as he was originally away in Bristol for 2 or 3 nights, meaning he'll return to his own funeral? And what do we think the deal is with Mike? I'm thinking he'll ill and that'll be his exit....

This storyline isn't all that complicated. Mark was mugged, then the mugger some time later was run over in the street with Mark's bag. The police thought it was Mark because he has Mark's stuff. The police called Debbie to identify the body, Debbie couldn't do it so Gemma did.

Did anyone watch the first Christmas episode with Nerys giving her Dad a gold watch for Christmas? Nerys was played by Gaynor Morgan Rees who was my Dads cousin. I was named after her......my middle name anyway.

Just a cannot believe how unsensetive & self centered both Dai and Sion were tonight, they both really got under my skin, horrible characters. Really felt for Debbie though she played a blinder of a performance, totally felt for her 100%. Heart wrenching.

Was that plant in the window supposed to be marijuana? To me it looked like a tomato plant or some innocuous house plant. |
