I`m so glad Debbie got her necklace back. I`ve never seen such a beautiful necklace before, and the history behind it is just brilliant.
I hope this doesn`t mean that Liam will be killed when he goes back to Afghanistan. He has the potential to become a wonderful character given the chance.

I`m wondering why Clic cut out that scene of Sion putting make up on his face to hide his black eye. It was that scene that ruined the whole second half of Thursdays PYC.
Whoever is in charge of putting PYC on Clic should be fired. It`s not the first time they`ve screwed up.

No its not, there was the same problem a few weeks ago and it was never fixed. The fans who now depend on Clic need to be vigilant in complaining when they make a mistake like that. The reasoning behind canceling the subtitled omnibus was that the online services would be a good option. They need to keep their promise about that.

So am I. For as long as I`ve been watching PYC, Meic has been in it. Cwm Deri will be an emptier sadder place without him in it.

I agree, they`re treating the fans appallingly. They take away the omnibus which a lot of fans rely on. Then they will be giving us one less episode a week starting in January. And now they screw up PYC online on their supposedly new and improved Clic site. iPlayer is a waste of time for PYC...absolute rubbish.
This is not how loyal PYC fans should be treated. If they really wanted to be nice to loyal fans, and attract new fans to the show they should show classic PYC episodes in the Friday slot. I know they only have audio of the first show, but I`m sure in their archives they have thousands of other PYC eps to choose from.

So what did everyone think of the 40th episodes?

I came away with a big "meh" feeling to be honest. Especially when Kath and Stacey decided to leave tonight. I was like "is that it?". Just felt they could have done a lot more, and just wanted to see them and Mark interact a bit more. I was enjoying the backwards and forwards between them grieving Mark in Cwmderi and him actually alive with Liam and oblivious, but as soon as he arrived back and saw the funeral I thought the writing was appalling. It was all so rushed and no characters were actually given a chance to react to this massive thing which had just happened. A quick hug with Liam and Kath, everyone leaves the graveside (DYFF's graveside. Mark and Stacey's DAD's graveside, Kath's HUSBAND's grave - which is now open with a complete stranger sitting on top of him) and they all skip off giggling as if Mark had gone missing for a couple of hours. Two minutes later they're in the Deri joking about it, and Sion puts the phone down saying "thanks for sorting it out for us officer". Huh? Really? Poor, poor, poor.

The whole celebration has felt a bit damp to be honest, and I felt the two programmes S4C provided especially - the documentary and the 4 episodes with countdowns - were just very badly executed. It really had an air of "that'll do" about it. The BBC Two documentary, on the other hand, was brilliantly done. It was a true look back at the series - going into detail about memorable storylines and characters over the 40 years with cast interviews and insights, and I just wish S4C had given us more like this. It wouldn't have cost a penny.

I loved the Mark storyline. So much better than really killing him off. (Apologies to the script writers, I was wrong to say they lacked imagination.)

I agree with Flux about Friday's episode. It seemed very flat to me. No one was as amazed that Mark wasn't dead, or as angry with Gemma as I'd expected them to be. Where were Gaynor and Hywel? Gaynor was Mark's boss for years so they should have been at the wake. I felt short changed that we didn't get any interaction between Hywel and Stacey. (I didn't hear any mention of Hywel and Stacey's child, please can someone tell me what happened to him/her?)

The BBC2 documentary is great, well worth watching if you haven't already. http://bbc.in/1t195Jy

Thanks Nic. I was sure I could remember Stacey pushing a pram round Cardiff when she was at university but maybe I'm muddling Stacey and Nia up.

Looking forward to catching up on the week's drama later, so do any of you know if there's subtitles on all episodes when watching via BBC iPlayer this week? They weren't on any episodes last week, so I discovered Click after seeing that some of you watched via it & we had no problems. Thanks.

Nic is right, Stacey and Hywel didn't have a child together. I asked Shelley Rees-Owen, who plays Stacey, on Twitter, I thought that was the best way to get a definitive answer. I wonder how many other story lines from the mid 1990s I have completely misremembered!

Theres so many things have gone on in the last few years easy to get muddled)

Im gutted about Gareth /meic leaving. Denzil was a big loss and now meic.

Im not entirely happy about the Whites taking over The Deri. Although Brit would make an excellent landlady 'get out of my pub' Peggy mitchell style lol

Im not sure where the Gemma story is heading? I thought Kath jones should have knocked her out lol. They could have made much more of the identifying the body scenario ect.

I hope Meic tells Debbie he is ill. Makes me queasy seeing him back with Anita...after she cheated on him with Colin , the whole Moc scenario!! Debbie really loves him... X

There were not subtitles when I checked Iplayer on Thursday. I normally use Clic because they do a much better job with subtitles. There is a version of PYC on Clic with on screen subtitles as well as the normal optional.

There is more drama coming next week with Gemma, so stay tuned.

I liked the Whites taking over Y Deri. Sion's hypocrisy finally being exposed to the whole village a highlight of the week. Its going to make for interesting drama.

I completely agree about Anita and Meic, I have no problem with them being friends but married that would be too much. As you say there is Colin and the whole Moc scenario. Also Meic was in love with Debbie last week.

It's a bit of a gamble to have Cwmderi's most unlikeable family take over Y Deri. I think the Whites have reached a bit of a crossroads, I think it was either put them in the pub or axe them. Having said that, it could also be the making of them, and it can't be any worse than Ed and Sioned, which never worked. We shall see!

Ed was always too bland to be at the center of Cwm Deri. The Whites used to be one of my favorite families. I think the problem started when they put the Whites in the center of so many big storylines (the rape, the fire, the Moc storyline) and never really resolved them. Its been a cumulative effect of never having any consequences for bad behavior. However I think there is a lot of very good potential in actually resolving some of the issues, with Sion in particular.

Yes it's the making or breaking of the family . Might be a way of getting Rhys bidder back as Macs? Also Huw and iolo could be involved

Think the kids especially Aaron have potential to be nightmare teenagers Sioned style .

Especially when Aaron finds out the story behind his conception and who his dad is 😁😁😁
I used to have a bit if a thing for Sion white

If they can't get Rhys Bidder back, I think they should recast Macs. I hated the way they left things. Literally none of the storylines he was involved in were resolved in any way. Ignoring that and having everyone say Macs is evil does nothing for me at all. Macs is just too importaint to half the things that have gone on in the village not to try to have some sort of resolution.

No, Ricky spotted Mark and ran over to him. Mark went to his own wake so everyone knows he is alive now.

Poll results: http://www.golwg360.com/newyddion/cy...gymeriad-y-cwm Kath was voted to be the favourite character. I voted for Meic. I'll be very sad to see him go. Poor Debbie, I can understand why Meic doesn't want to burden her with his deteriorating health but she deserves to know the truth.
