I agree, I haven't really like Ffion and Jinx together for sometime. The problem with that is the situation with Arwen. They is no way that Ffion and Jinx could just quietly agree to share custody. There's never been a determination of legal paternity. Therefore the arrangement for Jinx to be Arwen's father could be challenged. Realistically under the circumstances it would be. The whole bit about the White's never being able to forgive Macs and therefore Ffion can do what she wants is poppycock. It just looks like they can't arrange for Rhys Bidder to come back to finish the storyline.
I also haven't like Ffion and Jinx for a while, which is a shame because I used to really like them. I don't like the nasty side of Jinx. |

I agree, Macs needs to come back to give closure to his own character, let alone the storylines he left. Does anyone know what Rhys has been doing besides a couple of Emmerdale episodes?

The problem with the Jinx and Ffion pairing is that it ended up being written differently than intended. I am sure they were going to do something with their families especially their estranged fathers and being first cousins but then they had money problems. The same thing with Macs being Arwen's father. That was supposed to be a big storyline for Jinx because of Macs and Jinx's past. Then Rhys left PYC. They wrote themselves into a hole and could never write their way out of it. |

Is Kelly just passing through, or will she and Jinx start up again?

Rhys did 2 (I think) series of his nature program for children and some live theatre.

Well I just watched the first episode of lan a lawr. I am confused as to how this drama which is twice as long as an episode of PYC is less expensive to produce and saves S4C money.

Honestly, if Rhys Bidder can't come back I'd even prefer they recast Macs (again) to finish the storyline properly rather than keep ignoring it or try and resolve it without him there.

I've only watched the first half of LaL so far. There is so much lovely scenery I started to wonder if it was part funded by the Welsh Tourist Board! |

I think it is only this week that it is longer than PYC, however I find it hard to believe that it will be cheaper than PYC to produce. The sets for PYC are already in place and they rarely film off set. Building new sets for LaL and filming at several different outdoor locations must surely cost more.

I just get the impression that the viewers are not being told the whole story behind the cuts to PYC or the very drastic decline in quality in the last year. |

I think you're right but I find it hard to believe that the BBC would want PYC to fold. They must have invested a lot of money in the new sets that were built 3-4(?) years ago. However I find it hard to see how PYC is going to get out of the downward spiral of less funding resulting in lower audience figures resulting in even less funding.
Is it that the audience is in someone's estimation too old and that's why its a target for cuts? That whatever these new dramas are they are more likely to bring in a more desirable viewer. |

In Lan a Lawr, I`m sure the character Gwen is the same actress who played Val, Ffions Mother in PYC.
Thanks for mentioning this little gem. I have very fond memories of my holidays in Gower as a kid, My grandparents had a caravan that we used to stay in during the summer holidays in the Llanmadoc area.. |

Also Beth Robert, who plays Delia in LaL used to play Lisa on PYC. She was the one who Dic Deryn's wife caught in bed with Dic Deryn in the 1991 episode that was shown during the 40th anniversary. |

I think you're right, though to me she looks younger in LaL. Wasn't she also in the last episode of Gwaith/Cartref as a relation of Gemma's?
